Hair: Her hair is a warm plum color, with light grey-blue highlights. Having no time to deal with long hair, Rievienne prefers to keep it short and mostly pinned back.

Eyes: Her eyes are a light, mossy green, with a hardness to them similar to an angry coeurl.

Body: Similar to most Elezen Rievienne is long and slender, and her frequent explorations into the unknown in search of material has allowed her to keep her body fit and in shape, if a bit curvy.

Skin and markings: Her skin holds a natural tan and boasts many small scars spread plentifully about her form. On occasions that she decides to don a shirt rather than a robe, one may be able to glimpse what looks like a disaster zone of scars on her left wrist that trails slightly onto the back of her hand and is assumed to stretch upward to an unknown length; she has never confirmed the existence of such a thing.

Clothing and Apparel: Prefers to stick to the classic mage robes in nearly all situations, believing them to be more "practical" than any other outfit she may own.

Personality

Rievienne is a brilliant Elezen, but she suffers painfully from an inferiority-complex that drives most of her actions and gives her a mean stubborn streak. Fiercely dedicated to her work she rarely associates with anyone she believes won't actually further her research or skill. When first met Rievienne comes off as cold, aloof, and haughty. This continues for the entire relationship if you fail to garner her respect or kindness (as nonexistent as they may seem). In all reality Rievienne is simply shy and desperate to reach her goals, believing that people will only get in her way or try to inhibit or steal her work; she realizes this, but refuses to wait for others to catch up to her if they can't on their own. Despite her brilliance Revienne [furious scratching]; believed to be caused by [more furious scratching].

Likes: Tinkering, reading, studying, practicing magic, research, alchemy, background noise (and lots of it), waterfalls, music of all kinds, breaking things in order to see how they work, magitek and machina, the twilight hours, snow, cookies, strategy games, animals

Dislikes: Idiots, braggarts, those without manners, any alcohol stronger than wine, those that harass the weak, being spoken to without prior invitation, thunder storms, onions, lazing about, mud

Odd quirks:

• When distracted (either due to anger, confusion, or being wrapped up in another plan) she tends to walk into walls, hard
• Has the bad habit of breaking her glasses when annoyed if she is wearing them
• Despite showing immense physical strength in fits of anger she cannot wield a weapon (other than her book or wand) without hurting herself or those within a 10 foot radius

History

Rievienne was born into a house of scientists and scholars, all excelling marvelously in their respective fields. From the beginning only the best was expected from her and she always tried to reach her greatest potential; being born shorter than most already put her at a severe disadvantage as far as her parents were concerned. Though she poured her all into her studies Rievienne couldn't help but love and be distracted by the wonders of magic, what she could create and destroy all in the wave of her hand. Eventually her parents grew tired of her lackadaisy attitude towards real scientific studies and they gave up on her, preferring to treat her like the disappointment she was. Rievienne couldn't handle being so worthless in the eyes of the ones that brought her life, and she immediately set out to acheive all she could in her favorite scientific field; magitek and machina called to her like no other. She conducted experiments and worked in secret, hoping she could come up with something that would truly make her the envied prodigy of the family; she had heard about the magitek infused soldiers, and she couldn't resist. Instead, suddenly one day she was cast out, her father having come home bruised and bloody and roaring about his insolent Garlean-minded daughter. Her entire family turned on her then, and she fled.

Rievienne was hurt and angry, knowing that she was better than what they knew and dead-set on proving that. In order to escape the leering, disgusted hisses of her family she changed her name and made it her goal in life to become the most respected scientist of her age no matter where it took her.

• Note: Rievienne did not make the five year jump from the Battle of Cartenau-forward because she refused to participate in the fighting. As a result of Bahamut's fury the estate in which she was living in at the time was destroyed and she lost much of her work. The next five years were spent rebuilding her library of information.
