Character

General

Name: S'anhu Tia Nicknames: Only his family is permitted to call him anything other than his name. His little sister uses Anny.

Appearance

Height: ~5'3"

Body: Average build with minor muscle tone, as he is a hunter.

Hair: Orangeish-red with some white tossed in as highlights. His ears and tail have a bit of black fur at the end, as well.

Eyes: Golden

Combat

S'anhu was never formally trained by any guild. He learned how to hunt in the Sangolii desert from the older males of his tribe. He learned how to use a spear when they fled to the Black Shroud. He is proficient enough to catch prey, but he is amateur at best.

Personality

Take a laid-back Miqo'te and relax him some more. That's S'anhu in a nutshell. His main goal is to lead a simple life. He's a little lazy, but if he has a job he'll do his best to complete it. Hailing from a small tribe, he tends to be naive. Due to his young age and sheltered life, he is also emotionally immature and doesn't deal with stress very well. He's expressive, but doesn't like to talk about those things because they "bring down the mood." When meeting new people, he clams up a bit but isn't hard to lure out of his shell. He likes to joke around at the expense of others, but he doesn't usually mean anything by it. While friendly to many, it is difficult to get a deeper connection with him. If you can manage this, he'd travel across Eorzea and beyond to help the best he can. He's quite a loyal guy.

Likes

  • Long hikes in nature. He's always been outdoorsy.
  • Lounging and eating.
  • Freedom. He hates being forced to do anything. He values freedom in life above almost everything else.
  • Clear blue skies. They represent freedom.
  • His family. Though at times loathe to admit it, he loves his family dearly.
  • Lancers. Secretly, he wants to learn from the Wood Wailers. He became infatuated with polearms when the Keeper tribe taught him how to use a spear.
  • Poetry. He's not a well-read guy, but a poet from his tribe would never fail to entertain him. He's no good at writing himself, though.

Dislikes

  • Rainy and overcast clouds. He says it's like The Twelve put a lid on Eorzea.
  • Intolerance. He is surprisingly open-minded and doesn't like it when anyone is put down.
  • Beastmen. They were a constant nuisance when his tribe first got to the Black Shroud.
  • Heavy reading. Never the scholarly type, S'anhu was glad when he didn't have to look at books anymore.

Hobbies/Talents

  • Skilled enough hunter that he doesn't always go hungry.
  • He learned some basic gathering techniques so that he won't eat anything that will kill him.
  • Willing to get his hands dirty. Not in the criminal sense, but in the sanitary sense.

History/Timeline

Tribal Beginnings

S'anhu's tribe hailed from the eastern Sangolii desert. Before he was born, some Miqo'te believed that the strongest young were made from the bond between two Miqo'te in love, not simply the physical prowess of a male. Thus, the small tribe consisting of just a few families (his parents included) and some young females who wanted a reason to go see more of the world set out on their own. They settled not too far from a trade route, quickly losing the young women. Worry set in that the fledgling tribe would not be able to sustain itself. As it turns out, the young women that left had talked about the new tribe in their travels, and slowly families moved in. The tribe grew, and worries about survival led way to more mundane, everyday thoughts.

Young Life

S'anhu was born among a loving family. He was the first child of the union between his mother and father. His father was previously Nunh of the old tribe, and had already sired a son, S'bharan. As a young boy, S'anhu learned his basics of reading and writing. In a settlement near trade, it was necessary to know these things to communicate properly. As he grew older, he learned how to hunt with a short blade. On these hunting trips with his father and brother is where S'anhu learned to enjoy the land and the feeling of freedom. His childhood was free of strife, aside from the odd group of nomadic Seekers who scorned their way of life. The young Miqo'te never wanted to dislike someone for something he saw as an insignificant difference.

The Calamity

When The Calamity came, S'anhu's life was completely changed. Tremors throughout the earth caused the sands to shift and homes were destroyed. What's worse is that people were swallowed by the earth. One of those people was a youngling, a neighbor. S'anhu was watching the boy while his parents were out. As the land beneath his feet began to move...he ran. The small boy cried out for help, but the older Seeker pushed forward as fast as he could. When he looked back, he only saw the boy's hand as it sank beneath the ground.

The tribe took heavy losses. Families split, leaving to try to be accepted back into their old tribes. S'anhu's family and a few others headed further east, eager to escape the losses they had suffered. They met refugees everywhere, but never committed to a place. They reached the Black Shroud, and decided that a whole new life awaited them within.

Recovery

After months of living off of the land or in refugee camps, they wandered upon a tribe of Keepers. The Seekers were unfamiliar with the environment, and their hunting efforts were far less successful. The Keepers taught them how to fish with spears, what flora and fauna would be easy to gather and eat, and of the dangers of the forest. The tribes were friendly, but never too close and lived separately. S'anhu's family lives there still.

Relationships

A quick note about the naming scheme I've thought up (opinions welcome): Since the emphasis of the tribe is more on family units much like the Keepers, all the family names have a reference to the father (since they come from a patriarchal society). The use of Tia and Nunh are kept, but are used for when a male begins a new family. Young males keep the name Tia until they become of age. Then they are titled Nunh. When they start their own family, they add part of their given name to Nunh that the wife will take on. Daughters keep the naming convention of taking their father's name until they are wed, where they take the husband's.

Family

S'linkha LiNunh - The is gruff and prideful father. He hardly shows his emotions. His first son was his favored, and as a result S'anhu feels a distance between them. Even so, he respects his father for the hardships he went through for his family.

S'wynh LiRhuma - The ever-loving mother. She cared so much for all the younglings, and was their caretaker. She was broken when The Calamity claimed so many of the ones she raised. Desperate, she pressured S'linkha into having another child even though she was past healthy child-bearing age. She died giving birth to S'nahla.

S'bharan BhaNunh (goes by S'bharan Tia) - The older half-brother. After losing his pregnant wife in The Calamity, he's been a broken man. Refusing to keep his adult name, he generally mopes around. He is currently living in his father's home, not really contributing.

S'nahla Linkha - S'anhu's little sister and the light of his life. He loves her dearly, and wants to protect her from the harshness of the world. The thought of her being kept company by their father and brother almost made him stay. Wise for her age, she gave him her blessing to leave and a heart-shaped to keep him company.

Friends

Mizha, a Keeper female from the tribe that took in the Seeker refugees. They dated briefly, but didn't end on the best of terms. Their friendship survived, in a fashion. It was no longer as close as it once was.

Enemies

S'anhu hasn't been in the area long enough to make any real enemies, as far as he knows.
