Arietty is a 24 year old Raen Au'Ra who was born blind. She lived with her family in the Raen homeland for a few years until she was 6 and her thirst for learning was apparent. After some deliberation parents decided to send her off for more schooling. Ari was moved to Sharlayan and placed under the tutelage of an older scholar who taught her Alchemy and everything he knew about botany but that wasn't enough for the young Raen. According to her whenever she was released with some free time she would attend any open lectures and found herself enjoying Allagan and Nymian histories the most. Around the age of 15 Arietty soon learned a forbidden spell to use Aether to see at the cost of her own lifeforce, she swore only to use the power very little counting on her near perfect ability to recall anything from memory including pages in books, smells, sounds and how something felt.

After training for many years her Alchemy master died and left enough for Arietty to live on including his very small and bare house. She took this opportunity to continue to learn as much as she could until Ari felt it was time to get out into the world and realize her own dreams despite her limitations. And so she arrived in Eorzea.

Demeanor: Arietty is a pretty easy going woman. She could spend hours lost in a book, toying with a new object, or just out and about enjoying the sounds and sights of a city. She's graceful but can be very slow moving.

Nature: Arietty considers herself to be extremely warm and kind but can be quick to anger if someone is being a fool. She will freely donate her time to helping people learn if they request it.

Habits: Arietty's habits are fairly general. She likes to touch and examine things with her fingers, her head is usually tilted to get a sense of where people or things are around her. She plays nervously with her clothing, hair or anything in reach that her hands can touch.

Common Appearance: Arietty has long red hair that is usually left to fall around her shoulders or tied up to be kept out of her way. She has teal coloured eyes with grey limbal rings on the outside. Her skin is usually pale since she spends most of her time inside. Otherwise she keeps herself fastidiously neat and clean.

Scars & Markings: Arietty only has one small scar above her eyebrow from a particularly bad fall when she was ten. Ari considers herself lucky that she has nothing else.

Voice: Having lived in Sharlayan for almost her entire life Arietty has a soft accent when she speaks Eorzean but can switch between the two languages with ease. Her voice is usually soft and quiet and she tries not to speak loudly unless she's angry.

Clothing: Arietty isn't particular when it comes to clothes. She favors robes when she is busy working but otherwise is not picky but she does have a decent fashion-sense.

Strengths

Arietty is very good at using Aether to not only see but sense the world around her and use it in her creations. Since she's blind she also has extremely good memory and hearing. She can follow someone as they walk around and Ari adjusts her head to follow them, she learned from a young age that just staring ahead made people uncomfortable. Her fingers are also sensitive and Arietty uses them to find out many things her eyes can't tell her.

Arietty doesn't like to use her ability to see Aether to read the world around her much, so she prefers to use her own heightened senses and this can lead to many mishaps, like tripping and hurting herself. She can be very quiet and soft spoken which makes her hard to hear and her temper can flare up quickly. In battle she's not as good as most people and so prefers to stand back and heal but isn't afraid to jump into the heat of things to protect something or someone. Prolonged Aether exposure makes her feel sick and so she tries to avoid using or being near it for long periods of time.

Arietty isn't that great at combat. She favor's the way of the Allagan Scholars because of her lack of sight but can also summon her own egi's in combat and direct them with a somewhat deft hand. She prefers not to use her enhanced vision as it drains away her life but she will jump into the fray with a weapon if it's needed.

History

History

Lavi was raised in the backwoods of Gridania by incredibly dedicated Nophicans. Her parents wanted her to take over the family farm, but Lavi wanted nothing to do with that, greatly resenting the extremely humble life her parents lead. She eventually convinced them to let her sign up with the Wood Wailers, and from there she worked with the intention of getting out of Gridania and somehow finding and easy life.

Eventually she gained enough regard to be sent on missions to other countries. In Limsa she found a much better homeland. The sea so beautiful and it's architecture so unlike Gridania's, she began to spend more and more of her time there, and soon found a style of combat that fitted her much better as well. Summoning a Carbuncle as an Arcanist not only gave her an adorable companion, but meant far less actual physical exertion.

As Lavi continued to adventure she began to acquire more power and more wealth. Often she would allow her Egi's to fight battles for her and then upon finishing whatever the days task, she would visit the Culinarian's Guild and feast upon rich delicacies. When she gained access to the Gold Saucer things got a bit out of hand and she did little but sit around playing games all day and eat. Her weight ballooned and had Ishgard not recently opened its borders she would probably have retired from the adventuring life. Adventuring in new lands helped her shed some of the weight though it was hard going for a while. Recently though she finds herself once again spending more and more time at the Saucer and in restaurants with only her desire for pretty baubles getting her out and about.
