Appearance

Azure is dark of skin and of hair. With younger facial features and yellow eyes, he is often viewed as attractive to most of his kin. Although impractical, he prefers his hair kept long as a way to stand-out among his soldier brethren (much to the distaste of them). He prefers clean shaven as he feels this gives him an air of superiority over his other less kept brothers-in-arms.

History

Azure hails from Ishgard. He was a stubborn and unruly child, who took to petty theft and fighting with other children. His grandsire, worrying for the future of his kin, took to training the child in the Art of the Spear. Being a veteran of the Autumn War and an accomplished Dragoon, he was able to curb Azure's mischievous nature and channel his energies into something that would be able to better the state of Ishgard. Over the years, Azure began to idolize his grandsire for giving him the skills to better himself and his people.

A call-to-arms was declared to repel a large dragon incursion into Ishgardian territory, and Azure's grandsire determined that he was ready to test his mettle.

The vicious Alpha of the horde was named Rathalos, and had frequently been spotted attacking fringe settlements with little repose.

With Azure as his squire, his grandsire led a company of Dragoons to repel the Draconian horde. With the battle turning against them, the grandsire led a desperate charge against Rathalos, slaying the beast in single combat. Azure himself even managed to slay a lesser dragon, securing his position as a Dragoon of the Ishgardian State. However, the battle was pyrrhic, with Azure's own grandsire suffering a mortal wound. With his dying breath, he urged Azure to become the best spearman this world has ever seen. As a sign of respect for his grandsire, he adopted the name of the fallen Alpha, so he would always remember the beast that ended his life.

Azure took his grandsires words to heart, and began his long and arduous journey to becoming a world renowned Dragoon. Studying under the watchful eye of veteran lancers and Dragoons alike, Azure raised in rank until he had learned all there was to learn.

He was granted leave from the Holy See to expand his horizons, eventually settling in Limsa Lominsa where he showed promise in the Arcanist arts. Where Dragoon had become his first passion, the Arcanist quickly became his second. He quickly mastered the basics of Arcanistry, and went on to study the advanced techniques of the Nymian Tacticians. He learned how to shield himself and others from damage, as well as mend wounds and cure disease. The tacticians claimed this vocation as the Scholar, and so it was that Azure was both sound of body and mind.

Personality

Azure is first and foremost, a Soldier of the Holy See. Therefore he has the utmost respect for the chain-of-command and his other fellow Dragoons. He can be competitive with his fellow brothers-in-arms, but frequently internalizes this. He rarely boasts of his exploits and prefers a quiet life of meditation and training. He is wary of strangers that have yet to earn his trust, but accepting of outsiders. Ishgard's recent opening of their boarders has alleviated much of his xenophobia, and he revels in the promise of potentially new warriors to learn and compete with.
