Not much is known about Serenity's birth or early years. She was happened upon one evening by an unnamed Hyur couple taking a midnight stroll along one of Limsa Lominsa's many piers. Not knowing what to do, the couple gave Serenity her name and turned her in to K'rhid Tia and the Arcanist's Guild. K'rhid took care of Serenity during her infancy, leaving her in the charge of the guild collective during his many extended absences. As she aged, Serenity showed a particular affinity for controlling aether, prompting the guild to attempt to teach her the ways of summoning at the age of 10. Sadly, Serenity was far too young to be able to control the manifested energies, and after accidentally summoning the destructive power of Ifrit-Egi without the knowledge or ability to control it, Serenity fled from the company, fearful of the powers she possessed. Now an orphan without home, Serenity lived as best she could off of the land, scraping together whatever simple food she could find and forage from the wilderness, and seeking shelter among the denizens of La Noscea. After barely surviving a year living in squalor, Serenity was forcibly taken in by a band of pirates, the hungry sailors hoping to groom her into an obedient wench. Serenity endured countless instances of abuse and exploitation at the hands of her captors, each time searing into her mind her hatred of all men. Her life nearly met it's end countless times, until she was finally able to escape during one particular drunken carousel. Her body and mind nearly torn to shreds, the twelve year old dragged herself to the steps of Ul'Dah, where she would spend her teenage years.

Ul'Dah proved to be a harsh mistress to Serenity, providing little relief from her life in captivity. Fighting tooth and nail to survive out on the streets, Serenity was forced to learn to use her body to eke out a living within the towering citadel. Her aetheric powers continuing to grow, Serenity quickly sought out the aid of the Thaumaturge's guild where she practiced and honed her skills in the darker arts of magic. As the years passed and Serenity matured from a waif of a child into a blossoming young courtesan, she found herself being called upon by several of the more prominent members of Ul'Dahn society. This meant more money for her, and what she hoped would be better treatment. Her hopes would not come to fruition, as wealthy members of society take grievous offence to being told 'no'. Serenity was trapped and forced to cater to the debauchery of high society, though the hope for a better life was kept close to her heart. This glimmer of hope would see her through the darkest of her times, straight through to her twenty-fourth birthday, and her escape from Ul'Dah.

Personality

Flaws

  • Impulsive - Serenity is quite prone to making her decisions based more upon her emotional state than thinking things through.
  • Clumsy - Never quite getting the concept of balance down to an art, Serenity is known to periodically walk or run into things or people, or drop that expensive item she was given.
  • Emotional - Tying in with her impulsivity, Serenity can let her feelings get the better of her if she feels strongly enough about something or someone.
  • Stubborn - Though she can be very easy-going about many things, Serenity is well known for digging in her heels when she's confronted about something she believes in.

Fears

  • Abandonment - Her early life experiences in Limsa Lominsa and Ul'Dah have left Serenity fearing being alone more than anything else.
  • Frogs - There's just something about the slimy green amphibians that send chills up Serenity's body. Ick.
  • Males - Though she hides it well, Serenity's mistreatment at the hands of the various men that have come through her life have left her painfully wary of any kind of male interaction.
  • Dhalmels - Have you seen one swing it's neck to defend itself? Serenity can't stand the sight of it.

Talents

  • Black Magic - During her early teenage years, Serenity was taken in by the Ul'Dahn Thaumaturge's Guild after witnessing her botch an attempted summoning of an Egi. Through a mixture of hard work and natural talents, Serenity quickly rose to become one of the more feared wielders of the destructive forces.
  • White Magic - To counteract her delving into the depths of the void to harness her powers, Serenity soon took to practicing White Magic to keep her mind from slipping completely into the darkness. Though not as proficient at the healing aspects, Serenity found the usage of Earth and Wind magic to be trivial.
  • Summoning - A culmination of her devout training in both the Black and White arcane arts, Serenity has now managed to perfect the arduous task of both summoning and maintaining a full and complete Egi, using a combination of Fire, Earth and Wind magic to rend her foes asunder. Serenity continues to train and hone her skills, constantly attempting to meld different magic abilities together to further her power.

Birth and childhood

Not much is known about Serenity's birth or early years. She was happened upon one evening by an unnamed Hyur couple taking a midnight stroll along one of Limsa Lominsa's many piers. Not knowing what to do, the couple gave Serenity her name and turned her in to K'rhid Tia and the Arcanist's Guild. Her life nearly met it's end countless times, until she was finally able to escape during one particular drunken carousel. Her body and mind nearly torn to shreds, the twelve year old dragged herself to the steps of Ul'Dah, where she would spend her teenage years.

Teen Years

This glimmer of hope would see her through the darkest of her times, straight through to her twenty-fourth birthday, and her escape from Ul'Dah.

Adulthood

As courtesans went, Serenity eventually became one of the best, servicing the wealthiest of the wealthy within the city. Every citizen vied for a chance to spend the night with her, and Serenity was all too happy to please. This caught the ire of some of her former clients, who were quick to spread rumors and scandals about Serenity's dealings within the city.
