Appearance

Khael sports somewhat-tanned skin, silver eyes, and fiery hair that's been streaked with a burnt orange. He's rather tall, and tends to wear any clothing that's non-restrictive. He rarely carries any visible weapons, but always seems to be able to pull a knife or small pistol from sheer air.

History

Pre-Calamity

Khael had a rather happy childhood, despite displaying signs of an anxious and callous nature from early on. For whatever reason, though he was able to somewhat sense aetherial traces, he spent much of his early years learning to ignore this, and training to become a hunter. He was raised by his tribe until he was about fifteen, at which point he was recruited by the travelling scholar Aya Numi and her companions, Agian and S'amie Malkoh. The fact that the female miqo'te is a Keeper confused him, though, because of her name, but he just assumed that it was an unusual naming convention, so he brushed it off. He left with the group when they departed, enamored with their research and hoping to learn a thing or two from the group, despite the fact that he's too afraid of using magick to ever dabble in it. The group seemed interested in him, but S'amie, more than anyone, had her curiosity piqued by him.

Sure enough, the group helped Khael further his melee abilities, most specifically with knives. Aya was careful about how much she taught him, but by the coming of the Calamity, he was a master of some pretty fancy knife-work. Aya also taught him to use guns, which he found much easier to use than typical bows.

Of course, then came the Calamity. Khael had been busy reading when he first noticed Dalamud, and he'd immediately run off to find the others. He found S'amie first, but she'd only given him a wild look and run away. Confused, he kept searching, this Time finding Aya and Agian. Moments later, he'd found himself unconscious, which he only realized when he woke up in a small cavern not too far from where they'd previously been. To his surprise, the landscape had been torn asunder by the Calamity, yet the three scholars were unharmed. Sami was nowhere to be found, though.

Khael tried desperately searching for his friend all throughout Thanalan, but largely came up empty. Finally, he turned to Aya and Agian for help, telling them that the girl had seemed genuinely terrified, and probably wouldn't be able to survive for long without them... if, of course, she had survived Dalamud's Fall in the first place. That, though, was when Aya revealed something to him:  The information in this section is currently a sensitive secret, knowledge of which could alter the behavior of players. It has been redacted and will be added as it is revealed during play.

Post-Calamity

Absolutely crushed - figuratively, you understand - Khael had no real choice but to continue following Aya and Agian. Before long, the three had formed a group of researchers known as the KLK, who currently have a rather secret and unnoticeable manor in The Goblet. The three are the group's head, though, and known much more than other members of the society.

Since the Calamity, Khael has learned more than some fancy bladework; Aya has been teaching him the benefits of staying hidden, to the point that he can be a ghost in both empty and crowded rooms. He's become an expert in stealthy bladework and gunplay, though very rarely has any use for it besides sparring with Aya, Agian, or one of the other scholars. Other than training, he typically spends his Time studying.

The more knowledge and life Khael is surrounded by, though, the more callous his personality gets, as so much information starts to flood him. The reasons why are yet to be revealed, but it's likely that it's not a natural sort of problem. He has tried controlling this influx of information, but is unable to block it out, leading to him staying away from most other people save for Aya and Agian. In fact, most of the other scholars don't even know of his existence.

With the (somewhat forceful) aid of Agian (after the albino had a hypothesis about how Khael's abilities worked, and gods above and below know there's no stopping him when he has a hypothesis), though, Khael has discovered that the closer he is with someone - physically or emotionally - the more overpowering their aura is to him. This has somewhat altered his views and goals, as he very often wants nothing more in life than to get the feelings around him to stop... whatever that may take.

Present

In exchange for his part of aiding Agian's studies, the albino offered up a piece of information to the miqo'te: they know S'amie's whereabouts. Not long after this, Aya revealed to him that she doesn't mind him knowing, nor does she mind him going to aid S'amie... so long as he doesn't reveal himself to her, exactly. Knowing what Aya told him about S'amie's actions just prior to the Calamity, Khael is tentative at first. However, he gives in to his overpowering curiosity, eventually going and watching from afar for a while. After seeing S'amie pledge herself to a cause with little regards to her own safety, though, he holds out hope that she has come to her senses, and that she now wishes to aid others without the help of dark Void magicks. How delightful!

Deciding that S'amie is not beyond morally saving, Khael has decided to help her. He had Aya craft a staff specifically for her, and while he's not always sure of Aya's intentions, one thing he does know is that she's always willing to help her disciples (she'd already given the Miqo'te conjurer a White Mage's soulstone; what more was a staff to suit her power?). Still, knowing he can't be revealed, he leaves the staff for S'amie to find and use on her own. For now, he's content merely to watch from the shadows - and on the top of bookshelves, or underneath all of her paperwork. He has recently begun reading S'amie's research when she's away or asleep, though he has a bit of a hard Time reading that which she writes in languages he doesn't understand. He uncovers and deciphers what he can, though, and has been absolutely amazed by her progress.

After heading back to the Goblet from a stalking, Khael was, unfortunately, stopped by a group of Barracudas (the soldiers, not the fish, I hope!). They accused him of... well, just being a generally all-around shady person, really. After some discussion back and forth, though, one of them, a Miqo'te by the name of Renia Folmah, decided to let him off with a warning, feeling that their accusations were as baseless as they totally were. Not long after this, on her way home from work, she was being harassed by several of the other Barracudas. Khael, being nearby, stepped in. Ever since then, the two have run into each other several Times, and have been aiding each other with various troubles and tribulations.

For now, who knows? Before long, this ghost of a Miqo'te may just make a physical appearance before the eyes of the 81st...

Personality

To someone he first meets, Khael will come across one of three ways: very flirtatious, very peppy, or very devious. All three are part of his base personality, of course.

Though it may not be obvious when first meeting him, Khael's personality will change depending on his location, his surroundings, and who else is in the room, as threads of all personalities and histories will begin unintentionally bleeding into his own. This is mostly muted whenever he's in the presence of someone he's close to, however; currently, this is only S'amie.

If you get to know Khael, and he is more comfortable around you - or you catch him unawares and he has no Time to switch into a peppy attitude - you'll find that he's actually a very callous individual. Having no idea if his feelings and emotions belong to him or his surroundings, he's learned to ignore all of them so that they don't ever get him into trouble.

Despite this, Khael is still caring; if an ally is in trouble, he'll rush to their aid without very little second thought. This is more of a subconscious response than an emotional one, but probably stems from ignored guilt he carried from thinking that S'amie died/ran away from him being unable to stop her.

In most occasions, you'll more than likely catch Khael in a flirtatious mood. He isn't as bad as some people - SPARROW - but he's a bit shameless in his comments and innuendos. He doesn't mean to offend, but there's no real point in trying to shake him off; he won't actually ever act on his flirtations unless the other party makes the first move.

Romantic Interest Sexual Desire Platonic Love Good Standing Neutral Standing Poor Standing Deceased

  • (PC) Aya Numi: Khael first met Aya Numi at the age of 15. He's been travelling with her basically ever since, and she's a mentor and master to him. Despite being somewhat afraid of her, he also greatly respects her. He's become aware that she's not quite a normal Scholar, but he's not exactly about to ask her about it... Regardless, he's almost always going to be reporting back to her, whenever anything interesting happens.

  • (Non-PC) Agian: Despite the two having very little in common, Agian is Khael's other mentor/master. Though Agian had been somewhat curt with S'amie, this is nothing compared to how cold and forceful he is towards Khael, though it's probably one of those stereotypical attempts to make him stronger, or something. Regardless, whenever Agian has a theory that requires testing, 11/10 Times, he'll force Khael to be his guinea catte. This has resulted in at least one occasion of Khael being forced to do some things that he'd rather not talk about, though Agian sees nothing wrong with it in the slightest. After all, it's just research, right...?

  • (PC) S'amie Malkoh: S'amie, despite being just a close friend all throughout their childhood, means quite a lot to Khael. She's the only one currently able to cancel out his empathy, and now that he knows just who he is, he feels even more protective of her. He's currently, of course, stalking her and basically convincing her that he's a ghost, but we're going to ignore that for now.

  • (PC) Renia Folmah: A Miqo'te working with the Limsa Lominsa Barracuda. She helped him get out of a totally unfair searching, and he helped her from soldiers who were harassing her. Ever since, they've been running into each other on their various trips, and Khael has become very... intrigued by her, to say the least! Of course, she has yet to return his flirting, but that doesn't mean he won't keep trying!

Other Notes

Religion

Khael isn't very religious himself after being around Agian and Aya for so long. He believes in other planets outside of their own, however, and will never chastise anyone for their beliefs, though he may playfully taunt them.

Quirks

  • Seeing the history/emotions tied to many objects often leaves him unable to, not only differentiate between their emotions and his own, but also to occasionally be unable to tell the difference between living things and inanimate objects.
  • He'll pretend to be a ghost, because A: his aura is confusing to conjurers/mages, and B: he's good at hiding. Like... really good.
  • He's very flirtatious - with both males and female - and will often act masochistic if you return his banter for long enough. It's all fun and games, of course! ...Probably.
  • He'll often get into fights with inanimate objects.
  • He'll often get into conversations with inanimate objects.
  • He talks to the walls, guys.

Known Haunts

Khael is currently haunting the 81st's manor, pretending to be a ghost so that he can stalk S'amie, because that's what totally sane people totally do, right?

OOC Notes

My shiny new OC! I may be somewhat uncomfortable RPing such a flirtatious character for the first few weeks, so I apologize! Other than that, feel free to PM me or walk up at any Time!
