Y'raja Lhiza (yah-RAH-zhjah LEE-zah) is a Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te who constantly wanders from place to place, never staying anywhere for too long.

((This bio is still a huge WIP and all of the info here is subject to change at any time. Thank you!))

Appearance

Y'raja is a slightly taller than average female Miqo'te. Her skin leans towards fair, with a faint golden undertone. Her eyes are a bright green reminiscent of peridot. All of Y'raja's hair is dark golden blonde, her crown sporting brown lowlights. Traditional tribal painting adorns her face, both on the forehead and the apples of her cheeks. Y'raja has a slender yet athletic build. She likes to wear clothing that is form-fitting and will not get in the way when she is running or fighting. This is also the reason she always keeps her hair short.

Brief History

Y'raja had a fairly normal childhood. She grew up in the Sagolii Desert, born into the small tribe of her father, Lhiza Nuhn.

Once old enough, Y'raja began her early years as a pugilist until she discovered her talent for thaumaturgy. However, because she was so used to the twitch-like movements of pugilism, Y'raja quickly found thaumaturgy tedious and began to pursue studies of how to apply magic to other forms of combat. For a few years, she experimented with lancing. It was during this time, when she about sixteen or so, that Y'raja packed up and left her tribe. If asked why, Y'raja will give no particular reasons other than the fact that it bored her and felt that she could not move on otherwise. She spent time in Ul'dah, adjusting to the big city lifestyle. All her money came from waiting tables or performing in taverns. Y'raja refused to seek aid from the Thaumaturge's Guild because she has always been a firm believer in accepting charity from no one, although she may give it out herself on occassion.

Tired of the desert setting, the girl moved on to Limsa Lominsa. Y'raja would find that she really liked the area and stayed for a few years, even becoming a citizen. For a short period of time, she actually joined the Maelstrom. It was a new experience Y'raja was interested in having. Eventually, that would also wear out its welcome, so Y'raja left. This seemed to upset many friends she had made during that time to a great degree. Ever since, Y'raja has made it a point to spend less time in the La Noscea area. Finally, Gridania temporarily became her home as well while she took up archery. This was a newfound love for the Miqo'te. She felt freer than she did with pugilism, and could even apply magic in a manner she found more flexible. Despite all of this, the Gridanian scene was much too serious for her tastes. It was at this point Y'raja simply became content with having the status of a drifter.

She is unsure of what she wants out of life, other than to enjoy it, of course. Y'raja wants to try as many different things as possible and see all that she can before she dies. Living for the moment is her life's philosophy.

Strengths

Y'raja excels at fast-paced combat that requires a lot of movement. If she is running, pouncing, and right up in something's face? She's comfortable. Standing still and chanting spells while deeply concentrating on channeling aether, or hoisting up a giant shield and becoming a living wall of protection are just not her style. Y'raja will also often imbue her melee attacks with magic, though it is not significantly powerful. Setting her arrows on fire or charging her fists with electricity is about the most she can manage in order to add some extra zip to her assault.

Socially, Y'raja typically flourishes. She can handle a conversation with most types of people, psyching herself up or mellowing herself out depending on the person's wavelength. If there is anything a person can usually get from talking to Y'raja, it is some golden nugget of advice or a motivational jab in the right direction... Even if she may phrase it in a way that isn't exactly straightforward.

Weaknesses

Y'raja has issues with commitment. Of any kind. Do not expect her to keep every promise, listen to every rule, obey every law, stay anywhere for too long, or keep a single lover. This makes it difficult to get to know her on a deep level, let alone trust her. Speaking of twhich, that's another thing she has issues with... Earning Y'raja's trust proves to be a difficult endeavor. She also bores quickly, abhors hard work, and dislikes taking sides. The last trait can double as a strength, but in scenarios where having a distinct stance is beneficial, her strong neutrality hurts more than it helps. When paired with the fact that she is easily swayed by petty things, it's possibly even dangerous.

For combat, Y'raja has terrible defense. She is speedy less because she wants to get more hits in, but more for protection. If one is able to actually catch her, it takes very few hits to bring her down. Distracting Y'raja probably is not difficult is someone goes out of their way. She is moving rapidly, occassionally singing to bolster defenses, attacking... Too much going on at once can disorient her.
