Appearance

As a Miqo’te hailing from the Jaguar “Yah” Tribe, Y’shenn has a tanned complexion coupled with platinum blond hair. The strands of his hair darken towards the end, which are more visible under specific lighting conditions. Behind his messy bangs are bright magenta irises and black slitted pupils. His tail is fluffy and a bit shorter than the average Miqo’te’s. Y’shenn has a slim, athletic build due to constantly training his body, with particular definition around his arms and torso.

Personality

Y’shenn has quite a playful personality. He treats those close to him as if they were family, often playing the guardian role of a big brother. He is capable of reading the atmosphere, knowing when lighthearted jokes and teasing are appropriate, and when to be serious and firm. Although he does not consider himself a gullible person, he is willing to give others the benefit of the doubt. However, once you break his trust, he would rather keep you at arm’s length.

Initially, Y’shenn might come off as uneducated due to his lack of background knowledge concerning the world. Even though he has no formal schooling, Y’shenn does possess a sharp mind and can easily commit new pieces of information to memory, even in the heat of battle, allowing him to adapt his fighting style as necessary. This is more of an intuitive skill than something he is consciously aware of. Because of his flexible way of thinking, he can even offer new insight on situations from his perspective that others my have overlooked, making him a good candidate to confide in.

Being a pugilist, he is proud of his physical capabilities, but does not flaunt them about haphazardly. He enjoys the friendly spirit of competition and pushing himself to his limits. His love of physical activity makes it difficult for him to sit still for long periods of time, for which his abilities as a conjurer suffer for. He likes to encourage the same type of enthusiasm in his friends, often encouraging them to go for a run or train with him.

Background

Having lost his parents at a young age, Y’shenn grew up in a typical Miqo’te Seeker of the Sun tribe with little to no supervision. He would often leave the confines of the village to play and explore dangerous new places. Without the means to attain a proper weapon, he learned to let his fists do the talking, many times returning to the village bloody and bruised. Although seen as a bit of an outcast, the other children would be enticed by his friendly smile and exciting stories. As he grew older, he became one of the more accomplished hunters of the tribe, gaining more respect from those around him. Many expected him to challenge a nunh to a battle someday, but Y’shenn had little interest in local affairs. He wanted to see the world.

When he became of age, the blond Miqo’te set out for Ul’dah to train at the Pugilists’ Guild. Through his training discovered his innate ability to channel his aether, inheriting the Soul of the Monk. Through rigorous training, he hardened his skills and moved on to the Conjurers’ Guild to better control his powers.

Along the way, Y’shenn began doing mercenary work for various clients. His most common employers include the Adventurers’ Guild, the Sons of Saint Coinach, Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern, and the Crystal Consortium. Throughout his travels, he has become somewhat versed on ancient civilizations, but the monk would hardly consider himself a historian.

Abilities

Hand-to-hand Combat

Through natural ability and training at the Pugilists’ Guild, Y’shenn has developed his own style of combat, involving powerful strikes and swift movements. His attacks utilize both his fists and legs, catching opponents by surprise with feints and elementally-imbued attacks. Due to the maneuverability required for his work, he rarely wears heavy protective armour, rather opting to avoid attacks than take them unless absolutely necessary. Although he can endure a few heavy hits, he is somewhat of a glass cannon compared to heavily armoured units.

Craftsmanship

As quick learner, Y’shenn has gotten fairly skilled at crafting various things, given that he can carefully observe how the proper method is executed by a more experienced person first. His attention to detail is impressive, but it hinders him from speedily completing his crafts. Although he appears to be more skilled in leatherworking and weaving, he enjoys carpentry and blacksmithing the most. Alchemy and culinary arts are his least developed skills.
