Appearance & Personality

Zera is on the taller side of the Au Ra female height spectrum, but compared to other races this is still of short stature. Her most noticeable physical trait is her fiery red hair, followed by her bright silver eyes. Her skin is a dark grey, her scales the typical blue-black that Xaela Au Ra share.

Her voice is husky and smooth like a heavy rolling fog. She often comes off as sleepy, shy and docile, but it is a front for her true dangerous nature. She just generally holds a disinterest to the world around her, unless something piques her curiosity. She's independent and confident in her world views, morals and expertise in battle. She can become aggressive if need be.

Biography


1. Was born into the Ejinn tribe in the Steppes. A very curious child, she had a tendency to stray from the group, drawn by curiosities and adventure. At a very young age Zera did just this to explore an underwater cave. Something disrupted the cave above ground, which caused some heavy rubble to break from its ceiling and hit Zera on the head which caused her to black out. Her unconcious body was whisked away by a powerful current which carried her down many rivers. By the time she came to, she was in unfamiliar territory. Though scared, she found this to be a once in a lifetime chance to explore new places, and so she allowed the rivers to take her out into the ocean.

2. Her travels found her in the Ruby Sea, far from her homeland. After what seemed to be a few suns, the Confederate pirates discovered her and took her aboard. They brought her back to Onokoro, their headquarters, where they began to care for her. It was then that she learned a mixture of Common and Hingan language and, in return, she aided them in their fishing excursions. She grew into her late teens here.

3. Old habits die hard, however, and one particular session of wandering off lead her right into the hands of the Red Kojin. Fond of her crimson hair color, they captured her. She wasn't treated particularly terribly, but they handled her roughly and much like an object. Eventually the Garleans heard word of the firery-haired maiden and approached the Kojin. They bartered with the Kojin so that they could take her back to Castrum Fluminis in Yanxia.

4. Shortly before the Empire reached the Castrum docks, Zera found the slightest chance in opportunity to jump ship when the airship was close enough to the water's surface. She swam as deep as she could to avoid being tracked and headed Westward. She swam for her life. Worn out from the urgency in her strokes for what seemed like bells on end, she finally arrived on land to rest... where a curious but friendly Namazu approached her. They met an understanding after Zera attempted to eat the beastman out of starvation. With promises of food and shelter and most of all, kindness, Zera agreed to spare the Namazu.

5. Zera enjoyed the peaceful, albeit quirky company of the Namazu. It was a welcome change of pace to settle down in the Yuzuka Manor with them for some time, and it was then that she grew curious of the strange weapons and armor that the beastmen sometimes gathered from Garlean wreckage. Fascinated by the power and devastation that they held, the Namazu allowed her to experiment with them, albeit worriedly. Zera learned to operate firearms and grew quite proficient in them. Once she was confident enough in her learned self-defense, on top of growing stir-crazy once more in her twenties, she thanked the Namazu and head off on her own, now finally in control of her own life.

6. After further years, Zera became a seasoned traveler and adventurer. She makes a large sum of her gil from selling the fish she catches, though she does adventuring on the side to sate her wanderlust. She entertains the thought of joining a pirate crew due to her Confederate-influenced past.

Miscellaneous

- Although Zera does speak tribal Xaelic, her knowledge of it is limited to that of a ten-year-old's. She is far more fluent in Common and Hingan.
- One of Zera's hobbies is cooking, though she's feels she's nowhere near professional.
- She is not interested in the concept of a romantic relationship. One may possibly happen over time, however, but this is not something that is even on her mind.

1. She is always on the lookout to sell her wares: freshly caught fish from regions both near and far. She carries several satchels of them on her person, though the larger and heavier specimens she carries in her arms or on her back to better showcase them (fish may or may not be available as actual items).
2. In the back of her mind lingers the desire to join a pirate crew, be it sea or air.
3. As an adventurer, she is open to the possibility of adventurer-related things: taking on minor quests, retrieval missions, beast hunting, treasure hunting, etc.
