Character

General

Zhi'ra Mhuneng (Zee-rah Muu-neng), fifth son of Zhi Mhuneng was born on the southern outskirts of the Twelveswood. Known simply as "Zhi" to those who find themselves befriending the man, Zhi'ra was raised by a mostly scholastic family, his mother being a great mind herself, pushing forward with research into the wonders of the allagan

He followed mainly in the footsteps of his parent - though not by choice - he still enjoyed greatly peering through tomes and knowledge of old, though his reasoning was two-fold; beyond simply indulging in the insight of such books, equally did he seek his mothers approval which he continues to thrive for and oft will he speak of the 'greatness' of this woman.

Appearance

Standing at 5 Fulms 9 Ilms, he is tall for his kind with cropped, pale blue hair accented with dulled white. His familial markings surround eyes of hazel and chestnut with fine, rounded features accented by the dark hue of his skin. While his body is not trained to the standard of many other miqo'te, the genetics of his race still gift him with an able frame. Despite being warm to those around him, he will be caught grimacing often as he toils with the constant afflication of headaches, varying in severity.

Zhi'ra will always be seen with a particular tome, old and worn yet holding a sense of importance to it as if it were a relic of yesteryear. Often will the keeper be discovered peering intently into the contents, head rested in palm as he tackles yet another onset headache as he tries to unravel the mystery of its pages. Never will the book leave his side and though he does not mind inquiring individuals or even showing the pages, it not once will depart from either his belt or his hand.

The book itself is an oddity to read, originally possessed by his mother, it was passed down to him when he was deemed most 'fitting' to use it. The first half of the book ranges wildly in topic from general arcanim practices to traces of allagan intrigues and history whereas the second half is made up of a strange scripture. Quickly however, intelligent minds will find that the more they read and understand, the greater their hunger to learn the contents of the book, yet struggle to decipher it's text.

Behaviour

Greeting the next stranger as a potential friend, Zhi'ra welcomes any who would seek to speak to him. With a rather husky tone, his voice seems to carry confidence but will often be found contrasting his demeanor at times. Due to his extended time in Limsa Lominsa, he will occasionally slip into the dialect of the city-state, mostly when excited or flustered which he promptly will attempt to cover, throwing out unnecessarily obscure wording as if to bolster his seemingly intellectual demeanor

Should those who approach him share interest in any pursuit of knowledge, a broad smile would be shown, revealing his desire either to learn more about what they should share, or just to be given a chance to prattle on about whatever subject comes to mind. Always would he welcome talking with anyone regardless of the subject, though commonly the young man will get too excited and end up spiraling away into a subject that may have little to do with his conversational partner.

Combat

Gifted with the scholastic knowledge of his parent and his own thirst for wisdom, he has found himself in possession of variants of Arcana which he puts to use, though they mimic almost entirely the same Arcana in used by your typical arcanist.

Although his mind is seemingly sharp and possessing a bountiful pool of aetheric energy, he seems incapable of using it correctly, his spells no more capable than the average magic user. Holding greater interest simply for knowledge, his usage of strategy is no better though he does have his moments now and again.

Should he find himself in an encounter, he would seek sooner to debilitate his opponent and pacify than attempt to kill, though this does not mean he is adverse to doing so.

Relationships

Family

Zhi'ra Mhuneng was born to Zhi Mhuneng and to a father he has no knowledge of. With a sizable family, he is the fifth son and holds fair relationships with his siblings, his brothers having all left to follow other pursuits having been subject to similar treatment from their mutual mother.

All sons under Zhi Mhuneng were born under different fathers, none of them are however aware of their identities.

Friends/Acquaintances

Currently, he associates himself only with a small a small number of individuals of minor import.

Enemies

As of yet, he harbors no ill will to anyone.

Rumors

(If your character was asked what they think or know about Zhi'ra Mhuneng, what would they say?)

History

Early in his years did his mother push him slowly towards intellectual pursuits, testing his mental capabilities at the young age of five. Proving promising, his education continued under her watchful guise until he was eleven years of age where he was escorted to Limsa-Lominsa to go under tutelage at the Arcanist's Guild. Only due to the weight of his parents' name was he accepted, though he tended mostly to the organization of the books and scriptures, Zhi'ra would constantly peer and steal deep looks into the multitude of books at his fingertips.

With his mothers eye now fastened upon him, he quickly began to win her favor amongst the others sons as she spoke of "promise" and "potential". He began receiving what seemed like therapeutic sessions where his idol would speak to him, ask him questions or simply read out a strange text to the boy. This would continue until he fell asleep each night and little did he know, continued for bells after.

Since these began, the boy had gradually been assailed with headaches of varying intensity as cryptic knowledge was being buried into his subconscious, slumbering away. Unbeknownst to Zhi'ra, the source of his affliction was something far more twisted than he could perceive as his mother 'crafted' something within the depths of his mind. Years did this continue until he was handed the very same book his mother read from, the worn tome now his belonging and his greatest treasure.

Shortly afterwards, his parent left to further her own goals, deeming her "experiment" a success and moving beyond to the next thesis. Zhi'ra however found himself lost in his new gained treasure and the studious young man compiled knowledge in attempts to understand and fathom this exotic text which continues up until the current day.
