Character

General

Jedrek Av'tias has a rather 'different' feeling to him. He is often seen wandering about the wilds of Eorzea, wearing his usual brown robe and sandals. All those who have approached him in hopes of striking up a conversation with him have different story to tell. Some claim to have been given large quantities of Gil or having been supplied with generous gifts just for saying hello to him. Other however say that he just stopped in his tracks and stared at them, making them feel uneasy as he watched them until they finally managed to hide away was his eerie gaze. All in all this Miqo'te is a friend to few and a oddity to many. Some say he has a wish he is looking to make come true. What exactly it is, only he would know for now.

Appearance

Jedrek Av'tias currently has long black hair with red highlights. He stands taller than most other Miqo'te and has a well toned physique due to his prior 'pilgramage' with his past partner as well as to the fact that his race tends to be rather gifted when it comes to physical capabilities. His two most noticeable physical traits are his golden eyes which never seem to lose their look of alertness, as well as a black star shaped tattoo that he has on his left cheek. It is rumored that he had this applied so as to remind him of what he is meant to do and become...

Personality

Jedrek's personality tends to change along with his mood. He can be very kind and easy going, quick to find a reason to laugh and willing to help a fellow adventurer if the chance presents itself. He has been known to randomly supply equipment of the highest quality to those who seem to be in need of a bit of help. He doesn't mind treating others to a warm meal and sharing a tale or two over a cup of ale. He likes to have a good laugh now and then and doesn't mind the company of others. Jedrek is loyal to the few he would consider his friends..but one would probably not ever know it until the chance to prove his loyalty presented itself.

Yet there are times when a dark cloud seems to loom over him. No matter how kind and easy going he can be, there still seems to be something a bit 'off' about Jedrek. When he is not in a talkative mood, he keeps to himself and can be rather cold to anyone who would even try to initiate a conversation with him. He can become very focused on his present goals and close off everything and everyone in order to concentrate on achieving what he wants. It is this side of his personality that has kept him from developing any 'deeper' relationships with anyone. Jedrek does seem to have some minor trust issues and his motivations for doing certain things can seem rather cryptic.

Jedrek also has a tendency to be rather random at times...seeming if only for a fleeing moment to have the innocence of a child. This sort of thing would be hard to explain...it would just be best for one to experience it in person to be able to understand.

Combat

Jedrek had dedicated himself to learning many different skills that he could use in the battlefield. From wielding a axe to healing with a staff, He has dedicated himself to mastering all these arts and gaining a deeper understanding of their root teachings. His motivation for learning all these things was in hopes of protecting the 'one' he loved most and always being able to protect her. Due to events from the past however, he now dedicates himself to this in order to help motivate himself to 'move on'. One can often find him out in the wilds of Eorzea continually honing his skills and searching for ways to better improve his abilities. He has had some people who were apparently aware of his abilities approach him to ask for his mentorship...but he always seems to deny them in the rudest of manners. Why he does this nobody really knows.

History/Timeline

(1554-1571) (Before The Calamity)

Jedrek was brought up by his Hyur mother Sephie Av'lanor in the forests of The Black Shroud. His father, from what his mother told him, had been a Seeker Of The Sun Miqo'te who had left behind his tribe and traditions in order to be with her. For a while apparently his father and mother had lived happy simple lives with The Shroud, but that was soon brought to a abrupt end when his father was slain during a a raid by some of the local bandits that had one night decided to make known their distaste for their current neighbors. Sephie had escaped with her life, along with her son, all thanks to the sacrifice of Jedrek's father.

As the years passed, Jedrek grew and became interested in learning more about his father's tribe and customs. He had heard tales from the local traders that the tribal Miqo'te were something grand...and that the women left every man wanting for their company. At the age of eighteen, Jedrek decided that he would journey to Ul'dah in search of a tribe in hopes of being taken in and being able to learn their ways. His mother had tried convincing him otherwise, saying that it wouldn't be as simple as just walking up and asking to join a established tribe, but Jedrek being the rebellious teen he was decided to go regardless of his mother's pleas.

When Jedrek finally did find what he was looking for, he was not welcomed as he had thought he would be. The Nuhn of the tribe made it obvious that he was not welcomed there and even made it clear that he didn't even consider Jedrek to be one of 'them'. At first Jedrek was devastated by the sudden harshness of those who he had come to seek, but at learning more of their customs and their lifestyle...he decided it was probably best if he wasn't allowed to join them to begin with. His father had loved his mother...and seeing how these tribes saw their women as nothing more than a means to a end..he could now understand why his father left this lifestyle behind. Yet what the Nuhn had told him caused a fire to rage inside of him. Yes he might not be one of 'them'...but that didn't mean his father's blood didn't flow in his veins. From then on Jedrek took on the surname 'Av'tias', in honor of his mother and his deceased father's ancestry.

(1572-1573) (Before The Calamity)

While in Ul'dah, Jedrek took up training with the Pugulist's Guild and found that the art came rather naturally to him. However it was during this time, 1572 of the Seventh Umbral Era, that the tension between Eorzea and The VII Legion begun to grow in a alarming pace. The Empire had begun their march the year before and now with the addition of the cult of the Lambs Of Dalamud, Eorzea suddenly found itself in what one could consider an apocalyptic state of unrest. While many of his newly found friends and companions decided to join the Grand Companies in their war against the empire, Jedrek felt it was time for him to go home and watch over his mother. It was while on his way back to The Shroud that the Battle Of Carteneau came to take place. Jedrek could see that the Crimson Moon of Dalamud continued to fall closer and closer to Eorzea...yet it soon became clear that this was no moon at all. The sound of Bahamut's rampage could be heard throughout the land, and one wouldn't had been able to help but think that the end of the world had come. Due to the chaos that had suddenly broken out, Jedrek was not able to continue on his way home.

A few weeks after all had come to happen, Jedrek finally made it home, only to discover that all he had known and loved was gone...including his mother. She had apparently been in the process of healing those who had succumbed to injury during one of the more recent raids when Bahamut begun to wreak his havoc throughout The Black Shroud. She had done all she could to help, and had been killed in the process. Jedrek had been overcome with guilt, blaming himself for not having been there to save her. It wasn't until someone pointed out that it was probably for the best that he had NOT been around...for he would most likely had met the same fate as the many other victims had. After mourning for his mother, Jedrek finally decided it was time for him to begin his journey in earnest. He was determined to do all that he could to help people, such as his father and mother had done.

((From here on out, I find events that actually DID occur ((FC Drama on other servers...it happens >3< )), during my journey in Eorzea, and use it as material for my back story. I hope you enjoy it! Some names have been changed...))

Along Came Tsu... (1573-1575) (Post Calamity)

Jedrek adopted the habit of constant traveling and never staying in one place for too long. Many times he found himself trying to set his roots in one of the many free companies that had been formed by eager adventurers, but he soon found himself on the road once again. That all changed when he had a life changing encounter with a rather ambitious lalafell by the name of Crolus in the Waking Sands. Crolus spoke of how he wished to found a Free Company that would come to change the world of Eorzea, putting a end to the Primal threat as well as taking the fight to the Empire when the time came. Jedrek had heard of MANY Free Companies that wished to do just that, but he decided to join forces with Crolus, having found himself moved by the young lalafell's determination. After that day, Jedrek once again came to be part of a family that not only looked out for one another but for those who ever found themselves in want of protection from the enemies of the Eorzean people.

Months after the Free Company of "The Rising Dawn" had been established, Jedrek met a Seeker of the Sun by the name of Tsu "'" while on a trip to Gridania. Jedrek couldn't help but admire at how dedicated she was about reaching her goals and becoming one of the best lancers to ever live. He convinced her to join the company and from then on the two came to be inseparable. At that time Jedrek had been studying as a member of the Pugulist's Guild in Ul'dah, but Tsu made it clear that there was so much more they could both accomplish...such as mastering the skills presented in ALL the guildhalls found around Eorzea. At first Jedrek thought this to be rather obsessive..but at seeing that it was indeed possible to do this...he decided to join Tsu in this endeavor. At hearing of Jedrek's and Tsu's desire to achieve said perfection in all styles of combat, Crolus was quick to tell Jedrek that if he did go along with such foolishness he would have to renounce his position as one of the leaders of "The Rising Dawn". A leader had to be available to those whom he served at every moment, and going down this path would require Jedrek to be gone for very long periods of time.

In a way, this came to offend Jedrek. The Free Company whom he had helped build had become more of a shelter than anything else. At first the requests were small and trivial, but then soon came the "leeches" so to speak who preferred to be carried through even the most trivial tasks asked of them. Some of Jedrek's equals even chose to look down on the newer members of the company..something that he could not stand. He had brought all this up to Crolus one night in hopes of having him take action and make the necessary changes. It was all for naught however, since Crolus instead told Jedrek he was reading to deep in between the lines...that he was unreasonable to expect perfection from everyone. It was the memory of this that moved Jedrek to turn in his position as one of the Leaders of the Company and join Tsu on her adventure. He was now considered to be one of the 'lower members' of the company, and Crolus made sure to show that that was now the case. At first Jedrek felt guilty, thinking that maybe he had turned his back to his friends. Yet this feeling soon came to pass after a select few of the Company members showed their support to Jedrek and Tsu.

Throughout their journey, the two Miqote's came to grow even closer than before, which lead to them becoming more than just friends. They made sure to dedicate time to one another, which wasn't hard since they were always together. Jedrek had heard word that the Sanctum would soon become a place in which Many of the members soon came to look up to the both of them, while others resented them for having done so much on their own. This soon came to form a divide within the company.

One side admired Jedrek and Tsu for having taken their lives into their own hands and accomplishing in days what many of the higher ranking officers hadn't been able to in weeks. They showed that, on contrary to what the current leaders of the company said, one could 'change their stars' on his or her own no matter how big the obstacle. There were those though who showed their distaste for the two. They feared that the actions of the two would move others to think that they did not NEED the guidance of Crolus and his other four leaders. This all reached its climax during a confrontation with one of the beast tribes...

The company had received word that the Amal'jaa once again. Jedrek and Tsu were familiar with this tribe, and had found themselves in battle with them countless times. The higher ups of the company however did not have the success Jedrek had experienced though. The feeding and babying of the Company's members had caught up to them sadly and many did not have the experience to carry their own weight in the battles which resulted in the death of two of the members of the Free Company. Crolus's anger blazed against Jedrek that night at his return to the home they had built in Lavender Beds. He shouted at Jedrek, accusing him of turning his back on the people who had come to see him as a friend. The rest of the members had watched silently as this all happened before their eyes. It wasn't that they didn't want to help him, but the loss of two of their own had hit them all so hard that they didn't have the energy to come to anyone's rescue. Before Jedrek could drown in his own guilt however, Tsu stepped in and quickly silenced the angry little lalafell. She challenged his authority and told him to pick out a group from the Company, and she would accompany them to confront the Amal'jaa in a coming surprise attack upon one of their many camps. Crolus was quick to include himself along with six others, three of whom served in leading the Free Company with him. Jedrek was not included within the people that Crolus chose to be a part of the group, something that everyone came to notice immediately.

Jedrek knew that something was afoot, but Tsu would hear none of it. She would silence the doubts of their Free Company Leader, no matter how incompetent the others would be throughout the battle. After a few days passed, Tsu's group along with a few others from surrounding companies decided the time had come to take action. With a kiss of the cheek and a promise to return, Tsu bid farewell to Jedrek and made her way to Thanalan along with the others.

Two nights passed before the return of the group. Not all of them had survived the confrontation though...and amongst those who had passed was Tsu. Jedrek was devastated beyond words but even then he still noticed the attitude of the five that had returned. They were not as down trotted as they had been during their prior losses. Something had happened...something was wrong. When Crolus was confronted by Jedrek out in the darkness of The Shroud, he claimed that Tsu and the two other members had been slain by the Amal'jaa in the battle. The faces of his companions told otherwise. It didn't take long for Crolus to admit to the crime they had committed. They had left Tsu along with the two others in the heat of battle. They had refused to heal their wounds and had allowed them to be slaughtered along with any who went to her aid. "We will do anything to keep The Rising Dawn from falling.", Crolus had growled as the other surrounded Jedrek. "Her many skills did her no good when it came to surviving..I doubt they will do you of any good here as well Jed.."

Four bodies were discovered the next morning by some members of another Company during a Hunt. Two of them had been burnt to death it seems , while the others had been beaten beyond recognition. Crolus's body was soon discovered a few yards away from where the others lay. He had seemed to have been torn from limb to limb by whatever beast had come upon them. Jedrek's body however was never recovered. What happened that night in those woods only he knows...and the details of it all has disappeared along with him.

(1575-Present Day) (Post Calamity)

Ever since his disappearance Jedrek has been wandering throughout Eorzea continuing to study the arts he hoped to master so long ago. Some have come to know him as a criminal, a murderer who killed his own Free Company leaders after allowing himself to be overtaken by rage. Yet there are others who still see him as being nothing more than just a victim of a twisted man's desire to rule over others...a victim who took matters into his own hands and put an end to his reign. This however occurred years ago, and though many now have forgotten of the tale, Jedrek still seems to carry some of what happened with him. He does a good job of hiding it however, and though he swears on his own mother that he has left the past in the past, Jedrek continues to journey on his own...ever the perfect student when it comes to studying the arts of combat as well as crafting.

He has supposedly been spotted now and then within the cities, enjoying a warm meal at one of the local inns or taking up a job or two in order to have some gil in his pocket. It is hard to keep track of where he will appear next, but when he does show himself it isn't long before he vanishes into the wilderness of Eorzea once again...
