-Sami'ra Lihzeh

Appearance

Standing at a height of 5ft 4in, Sami'ra is slightly below average for a Miqo'te. Now 21 years old, he's fully matured and has grown into a fairly athletic young man. His wavy, light brown hair falls down both sides of his face, one side brought forward slightly to cover a scar on his left cheek that he received as a child. A dislike of summer and beaches has Sami's complexion fairly pale, in contrast with his deep teal-coloured eyes. Sami'ra is quite slim in build, with a wide, bushy dog-like tail that he prides himself on keeping clean and well-groomed. He never received any of the traditional tribal Keeper tattoos, as he was raised away from others of his kind from birth.

History

Sami Lihzeh was the daughter of her tribe's matriarch, expected to follow on in her footsteps and ensure the survival of their tribe, settled somewhere within the Black Shroud. She was always uncertain of her future as a matriarch, and longed for a life where she wasn't bound by the conventions and rulings of her Keeper heritage. A childhood friend of her's, Koh'zi Tayuun, eventually became her lover, and the two were soon expecting a child in secret. They knew that Koh'zi was not considered to be of a high enough status to become Sami's mate, and that the life of a prisoner was not the one they wanted for their child, so they hatched a plan to run away from the grip of the tribal elders. However, they were caught gathering together supplies, and on the way to the ferry set for Limsa Lominsa, they were cornered by several hunters from their village. Koh'zi stayed to fight to give his love a chance to escape, and she made it onto the boat not knowing whether Koh'zi made it out alive or not.

Upon reaching the port town of Limsa Lominsa, Sami managed to secure herself a position as a waitress at The Bismarck. She was a favourite of the old Guildmaster, Wilfghota Bhalzantwyn, and upon learning that Sami was homeless and carrying a child, Wilfghota took her in and the two formed a close bond. Every week, as she slowly began to reach the end of her pregnancy, Sami would wander the port, asking after the man she'd left behind in the Shroud. However, each week she received the same crushing response: No Miqo'te since herself had traveled into the town from Gridania. It was a cold, stormy night when Sami took a troublesome turn and Wilfghota prepared herself to deliver the baby in their own home, as the raging storm outside made getting help impossible. Although she gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Sami herself did not survive the ordeal and passed away in her mentor's arms.

Wilfghota was left with a vulnerable child she had no idea how to care for. She considered giving the child up to a Miqo'te family so that he could live with his own, but the large Seeker of the Sun population in Limsa proved to be quite difficult to reason with. It was only when a group of Miqo'te Archers from the Shroud came knocking in the dead of night, asking strange questions about a Miqo'te 'criminal' named Sami that they'd been tracking down. Wilfghota knew in her heart that the Sami she knew was no criminal, and from the little that she ever did share about her past, she was running from something pretty terrible. On Wilfghota's refusal to help them with their questions, they drew their weapons, and through her past as a feared Warrior, Wilfghota managed to fend off the attackers and flee with her infant charge, Sami'ra, to Wineport. It was there that she hoped she could keep the child out of harm's way, so she did all she could to get herself taken on as a cook to a wealthy noble and his family there. He was willing to lend an ear to the Roegadyn, and offered her a place to stay for her and Sami'ra in exchange for her culinary expertise. In time, Sami'ra would grow to show an interest in Conjuration, and alongside his training as a cook he learned White Magic from a retired veteran who'd made the town his home.

When Sami'ra was nineteen, Wilfghota took up her axe once more to join the Maelstrom forces in their fight against the Garleans. Under the burning descent of Dalamud, Wilfghota Bhalzantwyn bravely gave her life in battle to protect other soldiers in her group. She managed to take out several more Garlean soldiers in her final moments, as only someone with her raging spirit could. When news of her passing reached her home in Wineport days after the Calamity, Sami'ra suffered a breakdown and for months he grieved the loss of his adoptive mother. After a long time drifting around from town to town, he crossed paths with Lady Leveva, an Astrologian who introduced him to her craft. She invited him north to Isghard, where the Holy See had recently opened their gates once more, so that he may further his knowledge and build on his natural talent as an Astrologian. Two years into his training, the young healer decided to return to the place of his birth, Limsa Lominsa, to find out the truth behind his birth and his family. It was here that he enlisted into the forces of the Maelstrom, in the hope that adventuring alongside the Admiral's forces would lead him closer to answers.

Personality

Sami'ra can be a the fun-loving flirt, or the sarcastic, whiny child who ruins everyone else's fun. There is rarely anything in between. Depending on the situation, of course. He tends to be very nice and polite when first meeting people, but when he's more comfortable around companions he's known for years, he has a tendency to complain about a lot of things, especially dungeon conditions if it happens to be bloody/cold/sticky/disgusting. In general, however, he adapts his attitude to the company he's in and knows when sarcasm is not appropriate. He tends to play more passive around people who are taller than him, playing into his attraction to Highlanders, Roegadyn, Au Ra, and any Miqo'te who are larger in size when compared to himself.
