Basic Info

Appearance

Rorongyu stands at a mere five fulms, around average height for Auri women. Her skin is a typical brown, and her pupils are a dull pink made brilliant by the brighter pink limbal rings surrounding them. As a Xaela she has dark-colored scales covering her entire body; these scales are more prone to shedding off completely around her facial area.

Combat

Due to her size and stature, Rorongyu has grown more accustomed to using magic than anything else. She excels in thaumaturgy, and has recently found an interest in astrology- although she is pretty mediocre at it, finding the cards and their meanings to be boring rubbish. She always keeps a rod close at hand, often times concealed from any discerning eyes.

Biography

Childhood

As is tradition with the Kha, Rorongyu spent most of her childhood immersing herself in the vast knowledge of the clan, learning of the various cultural exchanges her tribe was known to take part in. Most children of the Kha were not allowed to partake in these exchanges, as not all of them were safe (and, of course, not all of their guests came peacefully). As such, for most of her young years of life, Rorongyu spent her time sequestered along with the other children of the tribe while the elder folk mingled and learned; she awaited their lavish tales, reading anything she could get her hands on in the meantime.
Her long waits were always rewarded, though- she was practically spoiled silly with tales of faraway lands, decadent kings and queens living a life of luxury in opulent palaces, and glorious battles unlike the tribal displays of dominance common among the Xaela tribes of the Othardian Steppe. To her the wait was worth it, and every exchange she could not attend was met with glee and speculation of the stories to come.
It is from these splendid tales that Rorongyu’s lust to learn more of the world and its inhabitants was birthed, and as she grew so did this lust; a yearning so great, and worse still, for it never ceased in growing.

Young Adult

Finally at the appropriate age now to join her family in their exchanges, Roro began to actively seek out guests of the tribe in order to engage them in conversation, drinking deep of their words and knowledge, never quite satisfied and always wanting to hear more. Sometimes her desire for knowledge was a good thing and, very rarely, her insatiable hunger proved to be a bane, as could be seen when the Kha had a run-in with a small ragtag group of what appeared to be refugees, fleeing from their homeland. The tribe agreed to take them in for a while without qualm, their only terms being to answer their miscellaneous questions, pull their own weight, and share with them their tales.
The Kha elders, reasonably wary of this new group and the possible risks they presented, forbid the children from interacting with them, and for a long while Rorongyu knew naught of their guests, her patience wearing thinner by the day. It was only when these refugees earned the trust of the elders that Roro was able to intermingle with them and, having been starved of interaction for weeks on end, the questions poured forth without hesitation. Who were they? Where did they come from? Why did they look so tired, so afraid? It was from this that the young girl learned of the refugees: the group was composed wholly of Domans who had fled from their homeland, Doma, after their peoples failed in revolting against the much-stronger Garleans. Weak and defenseless, they could do naught more than run in fear for their lives.
Rorongyu did not understand.
Though she knew of their plight, she still held the sensibilities of a Xaela born of the unforgivably harsh Othardian Steppe. To her, if you could not defend yourself, you were better off dead. While most of her kin sympathized with the Domans, Rorongyu could hardly even empathize with them. Their answers left her momentarily stunned into silence, but once she regained her senses more questions came: Why were they weak? How long had they trained before they decided to revolt? The Domans were speechless, but Rorongyu persisted. If they could not defend themselves, she said, they deserved to die or be subjugated. They did not deserve a home or pity, nor did they even deserve the Kha's handouts. By now the girl was wroth; how could the tribe have allowed themselves to give handouts to those so weak and undeserving? They wouldn't have done the same with other tribes- so why make special exceptions to these refugees? Roro let the Domans be soon after that, avoiding contact with them out of disgust.
It is from this event alone that her ideals began to finally take shape and grow, into something her family was not quite expecting.

Present- Pre-Departure

Rorongyu began acting differently after the events with the Doman refugees, and this was very noticeable to the tribe. She became less interested in the tribe's exchanges and more interested in their politics and inner workings, spending more time among the elders despite her distaste for them (of course, this was in light of their past decision to allow succor for refugees). Soon the time she'd devoted to studying other cultures shifted to time devoted to training and improving herself and the overall strength of the tribe's younger children, secretly teaching them her ideals whilst the older Kha participated in the various exchanges that still took place.
Her dedication, though sudden, caught the attention of a certain faction of the tribe- one who noticed she no longer fancied participating in the Kha's plentiful exchanges or looked at newcomers with bright, wide eyes. This faction, though hardly seen when strangers were peacefully in the Kha's midst, were always there when brawls- and worse- popped up. These were the warlords and strategists of the tribe, those who prided themselves in war and their ability to conquer the weaker. One member of this faction, a warlord by the name of Aragibal Kha, personally reached out to Rorongyu and welcomed her into their group; soon after, she learned that she was not the only one who held such strict ideals regarding the weak and the strong. Aragibal and other warlords began to tell her of stories of the Kha's conquests, of deceits and the sacrifice of tribes and peoples once their allies in order to further the family's gain. Without these strategic and violent actions, the tribe would be a lesser one, not the thriving tribe it was today--and for this, the elders of the tribe could not reprimand the faction for their brash decisions.
Rorongyu, now completely enamored with the coterie of tribe mates, began working alongside them to further her- and their- views.

Present- Venturing Forth

It had been months since Rorongyu was introduced to Aragibal and his faction, and talks of leaving the tribe arose. Not permanently- but long enough to get a look at the outside world beyond what they were told by passing strangers and gauge the strength of the settlements beyond. The elders, upon hearing these conversations, practically jumped at the opportunity to temporarily rid themselves of some of the more problematic tribe members under the guise of subjugation and conquest. Rorongyu and Aragibal were among the first to volunteer, and off they went to the wide world beyond the Othardian Steppe.
