Appearance
"Beaut!" —Romilda Rayne
Short for a Highlander at just under five and a half feet, Romilda Rayne makes up for her relative lack of size through strength. Boasting a muscular form, her toned arms, legs, and abdomen make the results of her training apparent at a glance. A head of short, blonde hair covers her head, usually unkempt and rarely brushed. Her dark-skin is bronzed further by the sun, giving her a golden-brown hue.
Romilda's face is somewhat boyish, even handsome with a slightly squared jawline, thick brown lips, and a small nose. Her sharp, golden eyes give her a fierce, bestial look that is often broken up by her cheerful grin and laid-back demeanor. A large, black facial tattoo marks the left side of her face, likely something the received shortly before she began her adventuring career. The only makeup on her face is a bit of eye black meant to cut the harsh glare of the sun.
Calloused and scraped from fighting, Romilda's hands and knuckles are tough. She cuts her fingernails short and never decorates them. Her left shoulder bears three scars, which are usually visible due to the sleeveless shirts she tends to wear. Various other cuts, scrapes, bumps, and bruises periodically appear on her body, but fade fast enough. Only the scars on her shoulder seem permanent as they reach around to her back and stop near the centre of her spine.

Biography
Romilda Rayne's family line had something of a history in the Fist of Rhalgr. Her grandfather, the master monk Radulf Rayne, was said to have unlocked six chakras in his life before devoting himself to teaching. Among his students were his only son, Robert, and a runaway named Hilda. Robert and Hilda became romantically involved and had their first child, Richard, in the year 1549 of the Sixth Astral Era. Ultimately, Radulf of the Levinfist gave his life to protect his students from the systematic purges carried out on the Fist of Rhalgr in the year 1552.
Born in the year 1554 during her parents' involvement with the Ala Mhigan resistance against Theodoric, Romilda Rayne and her family spent the first three years of her life hiding away in Ala Mhigo to avoid the tyrannical rule of King Theodoric. In the year 1557, after Theodoric's suicide left Ala Mhigo leaderless and allowed the XIVth Imperial Legion to take over Ala Mhigo, Hilda attempted to stand against the occupation. She was shot down in front of her children; Robert killed the imperial soldier and fled Ala Mhigo with his remaining family. During their escape, he lost his left eye to a gunshot.
Robert detested Ul'dah and left shortly after arriving; Romilda grew up in Little Ala Mhigo. Robert used his skills to protect the settlement from enemies, gaining the nickname "Red-Eye", but this led him to neglect his children. Richard took care of Romilda in his stead, but left home in the year 1567. Feeling abandoned by her brother and neglected by her father, the thirteen-year-old Romilda bullied other children and picked fights to get attention.
A few years passed and Romilda's behaviour didn't improve despite constant letters from her travelling brother. After the young woman ran afoul of the Corpse Brigade, Robert lost his right arm fighting for his daughter's safe return. After this, Romilda stopped lashing out at others and, though she and her father never became close, she enjoyed what relationship they had.
In the year 1572, Richard's final letter came from Carteneau after Dalamud turned red and began its descent. The Calamity struck, after which Richard seemingly vanished - not only from the world but the memory of any who met him. Richard remained in the precipice of Romilda's memory, his name and exploits only known to her through the letters he sent during his years as an adventurer.
During the first year of the Seventh Umbral Era, the amal'jaa captured Red-Eye Rayne and tempered him at Zanr'ak. Romilda put her fifteen years of training under her father to work, facing down amalj'aa in a rescue effort. She struggled in vain and fought her own father. Red-Eye slashed across Romilda's shoulder and back with his claws, leaving her three, permanent scars. In the end, Romilda slew her father rather than allow him to life as a slave to Ifrit.
After her father's death, Romilda left Little Ala Mhigo behind to become an adventurer in her own right. The young monk arrived in Ul'dah and searched for news about Robert to no avail. She made enough money working in Thanalan to travel elsewhere and continue her search. Over the course of five years, she traversed Eorzea and gained a reputation as a brash, valourous woman. Prior to the assault on Castrum Meridianum, Romilda joined the Immortal Flames to help end the Garlean aggression in allied territories.
