GENERAL INFORMATION

Koharu was born in Doma and relocated to Limsa Lominsa after the Garlean Empire razed the city.

Koharu is reserved, quiet and focused. Those who know her well often remark on her sense of humor. Only a select few claim to know her well. Her word is her bond, and once she considers you a friend, it is for life.

APPEARANCE

Koharu's complexion is fare-to-pale. At four fulms and 9 ilms, she is short even by Au Ra standards. Weighing roughly 100 ponze, it seems impossible that she could be anything other than a thief, rogue or ninja. It's only through her dedication, determination, and sheer force of will that she continues to maintain her standing with the Marauder's Guild.

While it seems that she is either returning from a battle or preparing for the next, Koharu insists on cleanliness. She has come to love the grit, grime and blood of battle, but she often leaves camp in the evening, heading to the nearest river or lake to wash herself clean.

While she carries the memory of fine clothing, dining, and grand balls, those days are behind her. And although she does love the finer things, she is driven to improving her craft, committed to being a better warrior today than she was yesterday. As such, she pours the majority of her meager earnings back into her craft.

Koharu often changes her hairstyle and color to fit her mood. Typically, she favors shorter styles as she finds these more utilitarian. It's typically colored white/grey, but can just as easily be pink. Her eyes have been described as a layer of ice covering a great sadness.

PERSONALITY

Intelligent. Quiet. Humorous. Loyal. Focused. With the exception of anything relating to the Garlean Empire, she prefers the path of peace. However, she is capable of great violence when necessary. She greatly values her freedom and believes people should be free to pursue their own path, provided they're not hurting others. She will go to great lengths to protect the downtrodden.

L I K E S ■ Duck. At some point, someone advised Koharu that, if she was lonely, she should get a pet. She bought a duck and takes it almost everywhere. It has proven to be a loyal companion and is, outside of her marauder activities, the only constant in her life. ■ Quiet Time. Koharu loves to sit outside The Drowning Wench and watch the sun set and rise. This provides her time to reflect on the day's events and her training. However, should a friend stop by, she's always happy to share that time and chat. ■ Chō. Koharu loves her sister and misses her greatly. She believes Chō is still alive and Koharu's overriding goal is to reunite with her.	D I S L I K E S ■ Egotism / Elitism. She abhors people who consistently put themselves first and those who believe they are better than others. ■ The Garlean Empire. S T R E N G T H S ■ Commitment & Discipline. Once Koharu sets her mind to a task, she pursues it relentlessly with a dogged determination. ■ Loyalty. To those close to her, she is loyal to a fault. She places great value on family and friendships. However, what she gives, she expects in return.	W E A K N E S S E S ■ Fear. Koharu's greatest weakness is fearing she'll be incompetent or not up to the task. It isn't a fear of failure, but rather a fear that she will fail others.	M O T I V A T I O N S ■ Revenge. She is hell-bent on bringing down The Garlean Empire. ■ Reconciliation. Her sister is Koharu's only living family and it her heart's desire to be with her sister again.

COMBAT & WEAPONRY

Great Axe – First and foremost, Koharu is a marauder. The feel of her axe cracking against an opponent fills her with joy.

Sword & Shield – During her infrequent breaks from training with her axe, Koharu devotes some time to the sword and shield.

White Magic – Acquired during her formative years in Doman, Koharu has the knowledge and skills to heal. It is not an art she spends time pursuing.

ARTISTRY

Mining - Koharu spends a lot of time in the field and has developed an interest in mining. Some day she may explore this desire more fully.

HISTORY

Koharu was born in Doma to a family of healers serving the city-state's political elite. Her father (Kiyoshi) and mother (Haru) were considered among the best healers throughout Othard. She spent her early years, along with her sister Chō, learning and practicing the art of healing magics. During the rebel uprising, which gave way to the Garlean Empire razing Doma, Kiyoshi provided some medical assistance to a few wounded rebels. The Garleans judged him and his wife traitors of the Empire and summarily executed them. As Doma burned and chaos ruled, Koharu and Chō became separated. Koharu searched the city for seven days, but as the final devastation began to rain on Doma, she was forced to flee with the remaining citizens. During the long voyage to Eorzea, she determined to set aside her healer's mantle and take up arms. She would learn the ways of battle and master the arts of war. She would seek out the Garlean Empire and fight to the death to bring it down. When her ship temporarily docked at Limsa Lominsa, Koharu snuck off and made her way to the Marauder's Guild.

She idolized him as he did her. He taught her the importance of truth, honesty, and strength of character. When he wasn't healing others, which was rare, he'd often spend time helping Koharu develop her healing skills. Haru Shaman, Mother. Koharu shared a strong and close relationship with her mother. Haru taught her not only the basics of healing, but foundational elements of being a good and independent person.
