Biography

Brought from Doma by ship as a toddler, Tanyuu was raised by a woman she calls “Uba.” They live in a small Limsa Lominsa apartment, where she was sheltered, fed well and isolated from others. One day, in her teens, Uba handed her a package wrapped in thin paper. Opening it revealed an outfit of plain clothes with a note instructing her to put them on and deliver a scroll to a man at the Bulwark Hall in the city. After reading the message and eyeing her thoroughly, the man sent her to Guildmaster Wyrnzoen, who began instructing her in the art of the axe. At first, it was very difficult for the young girl to wield such a heavy weapon, but in time her skill grew and soon she was in the 15th level of her studies.

This is when a courier arrived with a message for her guildmaster. Disgruntled but resigned, he told Tanyuu to return home, put her plainclothes on and visit the Dutiful Sisters of the Edelweiss. Thinking that she had not lived up to the task of becoming a warrior and was to be cloistered away, she sadly did as she was instructed. As she approached a large man at the doors to the “convent,” Lonwoerd’s massive and muscular Roegadyn frame made her apprehensive, but she showed him Wyrnzoen’s instructions and he let her in. Thus, began her education with Jacke, whom she instantly adored and crushed on.

The style and skill of the Rogue came easily to her and she fully enjoyed carrying out Jacke’s orders. She vowed to forever follow him and make him see how much she loved him so. However, Jacke would instead become the catalyst by which she discovered her true native calling – as a Ninja.

SIDE NOTE - After Tanyuu was sent to the marauder guild, mysterious packages and anonymous notes of encouragement started to arrive, delivered to her through her Uba or by Moogle. Some contained useful items, such as weapons and armor; others seemed frivolous: fancy dresses and glittery baubles. Tanyuu still has no idea who is behind it and Uba will not tell her, no matter how insistent she becomes. Tanyuu has tried to figure it out herself, but the busier she became, the harder it was to focus on her investigations. Someday, however, she has vowed to meet her shadowed benefactor face to face.
