P E R S O N A L I T Y

Despite being a very passionate woman, Vervara has a certain fear of losing control that she cannot seem to shake as the years pass. She is certainly more comfortable in her skin after seeing the ways of the world, how things are not so cut and dry, but old habits die hard. As such, when outer stimuli has not coaxed her otherwise, she appears sedate, her smiles are muted, quiet, and there is a certain air about her that suggests she may just vanish. She doesn't find it difficult to remain this way, and indeed she does not think about it, but as any close friend or attractive stranger can attest, her confidence bubbles beneath the surface and, whether she feels inviting or ready for a standoff, it won't take much to unleash it. She is, afterall, only hyuran.

A P P E A R A N C E

Vervara stands at 5 Fulm 4 Ilm and cuts an apparently soft—and comfortable—figure. Though she does not want for muscle or calluses, her shortcomings begging that she never get particularly lazy, recent years have found her a bit less strict with her diet. She is possessed of red hair, bottle green eyes and tanned skin, long of limb and expressive enough to make up for her recent withdrawn tendencies. She has inherited quite the maternal bearing.

If Vervara has any markings they would not be seen except by a lover or a close friend she might share a bath with--an entirely possible occurrence given that she is an unabashed sort. The woman, perhaps after some habit of at least attempting to contain herself, near to always dresses conservatively unless some venture or fancy begs otherwise. Similarly, given that her sense of humor is very much that of wicked playfulness, it has been said that she appears deceptively sweet.

L I K E S ■ Sunbathing. But no one has ever seen her do it... Vervara is very fond of the outdoors, preferring a hike to shopping, a swim to shmoozing and a roll in the grass to the life of any courtier. She was perhaps too indulged as a child, and she has her suspicions concerning why, but this allowance to roam away from the city has given her fair endurance and a mind content to be alone with her thoughts. ■ Children. But she has none of her own... Nothing can bring a smile to her face like a child's mirth. Where appropriate she will treat any child as if they were her niece or nephew, with due respect and affection. However, on the occasion she becomes more involved in the life of the child she will often become a bit more austere, watching from afar but always available and ready to listen. ■ Tonberries. But so many think it's some uncouth desire... The woman has taken in a fair number of these creatures and they live with her of their own volition. They are self-sufficient, but too misunderstood, too few and too green to live as a true part of the Eorzean alliance, even in the capacity of a beast-tribe. Thus, they have a mutually beneficial relationship with Vervara.

D I S L I K E S ■ Leeches. In particular. Vervara doesn't have many qualms when it comes to creepy-crawlies, enjoying the company of many, but also not shying away from stepping on what needs to be stepped on. These suckers, though, can make the woman turn green and even squeal in terror. No one has asked why. ■ Bell Peppers. Ick. Despite liking spicy food in particular, and vegetables, bell peppers that haven't been cooked into oblivion repulse her. The simple smell of them will make her nose turn up in distaste. ■ Prejudice. Too easy? If you take the above into account, she doesn't have many deep-seeded hatreds that actually carry any true weight with regard to her character. Despite seeing some things in her life as a once-vagabond, she has really only developed some run-of-the-mill, cliche dislikes. She has been fortunate. Perhaps it could be said that she hates when others remind her she has been so lucky in her life. As if it doesn't mean as much in contrast.

Q U I R K S ■ Flirtatious. It gets her in hot water. Any who think to look into the habit will notice she tends to use her flirtatious side in self-defense, as if to disarm an opponent. Others have pointed this out to her, as if she didn't know, and she reacts in a rather nonplussed fashion as there is no lie in her flirtation. Friends are not exempt from certain attentions either. ■ Taking in Strays. Mom said no to her critters too often. Aside from her Tonberry friends, Vervara is very likely to take on causes and individuals that aren't doing so hot. She has realized there are some who do not want her as a champion, but sometimes she just can't help herself. ■ Over-eating. Are you going to finish that? She'd be the first one to tell you she can eat her feelings. What are you going to do about it?

Expand Historical Timeline

1454 – Uthrick Rozthan is born. 1468 – Uthrick Rozthan participates in the Autumn War 1469 – Uthrick Rozthan and likely fated individuals are plucked from the battlefield and taken as slaves for a family in Ishgard. 1487 – Broderick Rozthan is born. 1500 – Kadir Svarthan is born. 1510 – An incident involving the young Svarthan prompts a plan for Broderick to work and buy his freedom, and that of those close to him. 1515 – Uther Rozthan is born. 1517 – Amalia Amnell is born. 1520 – Veronica Lundgren is born. 1533 – Uther and Amalia are married. 1534 – Kadir and Veronica are married. They have their first child the same year. 1536 – Broderick and Kadir purchase their freedom and that of their families. 1538 – After settling in Gridania and building a Leatherworking business from the ground up, Broderick succumbs to sickness. Uther takes up his mantle. 1540 – Noelle Svarthan is born; she is the fourth child born to Kadir and Veronica. 1543 – In light of her husband's bad luck when it came to starting a business, Veronica becomes a seamstress, primarily selling to the old family she once served in Ishgard. 1546 – Yurick Rozthan is born. 1552 – Vervara Rozthan and Kalin Svarthan are born. Kalin is the first male child born to the Svarthans. This also marks the year Theodorac claims ultimate power in Ala Mhigo. For the first time, living Rozthan's ponder the possible existence of family still in Ala Mhigo. 1557 – Garleans descend on Ala Mhigo. 1558 – Brodie Rozthan is born. 1561 – An unfortunate accident in the shop leaves Yurick scarred and begins an eerie streak of bad luck that has yet to cease. When asked, he will say Vervara was not present for the incident, but for whatever reason she feels responsible. 1568 – Vervara leaves home to pursue training after being turned out by the Conjurors Guild. 1570 – Vervara is turned away from the Arcanists Guild and inadvertently incurs the ire of a senior Scholar. 1572 – Vervara comes to the aid of the same Scholar during the battle on the Certeneau Flatts. She doesn't rightly know if this Scholar is dead. 1577 – Louizoix's effort to save the remaining combatants on the Certenaeu Flatts appears to have been successful.
