:Mathilda's parents were fairly easygoing none the less. Her father's father had merchant connections and when he got older, he passed it onto his son. Mathilda's parents ran the merchant troupe as well as they could, often bouncing between being on the rise and occasionally being on the drop. It wasn't until Mathilda was around 5 when her parents got lucky with a new business partner that rocketed them to "riches". The money was great and business was booming. The money was enough for her parents to "retire" to a nice little hamlet with friends and family while the business was kept afloat by key people her father trusted.

:From that point on, her parents had much more time to spend with her and it was amazing. She had a fairly enjoyable childhood, able to learn how to read and write without issue. Learning arithmetic, some geography, and her FAVORITE subject, HISTORY! While some history was absolutely boring, anytime there was talk of war or heroes, she perked up and listened incredibly intently. Growing up, her favorite things to do was play Guardmen and Sahagin with her friends, read adventure books, and any time a stranger visited the hamlet to rest and recuperate, to pester them as much as possible for stories.

:When Mathilda was in her double digits, the battle of carteneau had ended and, while an incredibly sad day for all those lost, her fathers business picked up a bit more instead of tanking. But clearly, the roads were weary with travelers and her father used some of that spare coin to build an inn for the hamlet for people to rest as they traveled by. Mathilda didn't quite understand what happened, but she was hushed away or pushed out whenever she'd try to ask a weary traveler if they were there. Or if they know what happened.

:Her parents had hoped she would live a quiet life. Possibly travel to Gridania for more schooling or possibly to follow in her fathers shoes and learn the business. Maddie had other plans, by the time she was 15 she had already absorbed so many stories from adventurers, that she knew what she wanted to do. Dressed in her best "travel" clothes, Mathilda told her parents she was leaving to go on an adventure. This is when her parents reminded her that she could barely cut an orange without supervision, how could she defend herself? This is where Mathilda decided she needed something to defend herself with. And thanks to the Inn, she was able to ask many travelers what the best weapon would be.

:Her parents had hoped she would live a quiet life. Possibly travel to Gridania for more schooling or possibly to follow in her fathers shoes and learn the business. But she had other plans. The stories of the famed adventurers and the history of wars had always interested her. She loved how inspiring heroes could be and how much went into pulling a victory out of a bad situation. Something she clung to was the stories and songs of past heroes.

:It wasn't a difficult question. Her favorite stories always involved Dragons, the Dragoons, and of course, the snowy peaks of Ishgard. Something about the majesty of a land like Ishgard fascinated her. Many adventurers agreed too that a girl her size and stature would benefit from a weapon like a spear. Plus...it was easy to pick up a stick or broom and start pretending it was a spear and swinging it around.

:Growing up, she had always tried to be center of attention like the traveling minstrel who visited from time to time. All eyes on you. Everyone hanging on your every word. Telling stories of battles and heroes. Inspiring others. It was all so amazing! As she got older, her interests were combined together. History. Battles. Heroes. Singing. Combine that with dancing and more upbeat songs though...

:By the time she was 17, Mathilda had made her mind up. She absolutely wanted to travel. But her parents begged and pleaded her to wait until she was 18. At LEAST give them time to better prepare her. But the impulsive young girl was still a freebird and it was only 7 or so months into her 17th year that she decided she didn't want to wait 5 more months and packed her bags early.

:Instead of going to school or trying to learn customer service to run a shop, Mathilda was in her room practicing how to sing. How to dance. And of course, how to tie the two together so she could create a show to keep everyone entertained. War was never going to fully vanish from the world. That much was clear to anyone reading a history book. People needed to be healed and inspired. Maybe she would inspire people with her songs and help turn the tide of a war!

:Mathilda has been on the road for a few months, mostly avoiding the war and fights going on at the Gridanian border with Ala Mhigo and The Garleans. Recently with an "end" to the war, Maddie has set out to the land of Ala Mhigo in order to do her small part in exploring. A chance for treasure, a chance to help people who need an adventurer, a chance for danger!

:She traveled to Ul'dah a few times to practice with others preforming their craft. Learning and absorbing things like footwork and how to put on a show, Mathilda was extremely excited to hone her craft and eventually become some sort of icon.

:With her dream pushing her on, the young girl travels between the major city-states trying to gain experience and connections to launch her career. Bow in hand, she travels the roads with a dream to become a global icon.

Biography

Mathilda Eloise Browne, the little one who tried to start her life feet first. Literally!
After a successful (albeit stressful) breech birth, Mathida lived a mostly quiet life with her parents. Being a baby was cushy. Food when she wanted it. Attention when she wanted it. And of course, the fun game of "scream really loud so it hurts your own ears and annoys you so you cry because it's annoying. But you don't realize you're the one causing yourself pain!".
Mathilda's parents were fairly easygoing none the less.
From that point on, her parents had much more time to spend with her and it was amazing. She had a fairly enjoyable childhood, able to learn how to read and write without issue. Commonly heard

"Oh, the flighty girl with light brown hair? I saw her attempt to take a running leap off the Skylift before realizing it was suicide and clinging to the railing for dear life. Kind of a spaz, that one" - Summerford Farmhand
"She is a bit...dense at times. She listens and absorbs information like a sponge, but when trying to apply it, she gets confused and...Well I turned her down when she asked me to mentor her." - Lancer townsmen
"I think her family is fairly well off. Not rich or anything, but they make good money as merchants. No clue why she's running around trying to get 'erself slain by a beastie." - Drowning Wench Patron

Occasionally heard

"Now don't go tellin' people, but I heard her family actually sent her away. Apparently she fell in love with a rival merchants son and the only way to avoid spilling blood was to send her away." - Moraby Dockhand
"I heard she actually found someone to mentor her once. Nice guy who was sweet with all of the ladies. He wasn't typically one to mentor anyone, but I swear I saw her going into his room on more than one occasion. We all know how she got training in handling a 'haft' hahah!" - Gold Saucer - Bunny Girl
"Aye! I remember that lass! Ooh if you wanna see some funny shite, just pour her a glass of ale and tell her it's honeyed water o' somethin. She canno 'andle her drink. Dances like me girls back 'ome. Nice girl though" - Drowning Wench Patron

Rarely heard

"Mmm, Mathilda Browne eh. I looked into her background, a bit. She hails from a hamlet in Eastern Limsa. Her family settled down there after a mess with her fathers merchant company. Apparently his daughter mangled a kid with a spear, punched a hole right through his lung while they were playing. According to some of the townsfolk, it mentally broke the girl and she doesn't recall it at all." - Parker - Limsan Private Investigator
