Character

General:

Kass is a female Miqo’te who frequently wields a bow.  She is often quiet and outwardly sweet, when not talking business.  She harbors some dark secrets and truly trusts very few people.

Appearance:

Kass is slender and tall.  She is only slightly shorter than a Midlander female.  Her skin is a golden tan color and smooth.  She often wears her long, straight hair in a high ponytail.  It is black with red highlights.  Her pale grey eyes have the vertically slit pupils of a Seeker of the Sun.  Her long tail hints at Keeper of the Moon ancestry.  Her slender form belies her strength; she trains almost daily with her bow and an assortment of blades.

Behavior:

Kass is a keenly observant woman.  She frequently watches those around her, filing information away for when she might need it.  For the most part she is incredibly calm, unless it involves the safety of her daughter.  If she feels someone may harm the girl, she acts with cold, calculated ruthlessness.

Abilities: 

Kass is slender and light and is rather quick as a result.  She trains with her bow daily and is very good at picking things off from a distance.  She is also proficient with blades.  She often carries an assortment of small blades hidden on her person.  She prefers to fight from a distance, however, as her height and small size would make her easily overpowered by a much larger foe.

Hobbies & Talents:  Kass enjoys alchemy and creating potions.  She dabbles in goldsmithing and blacksmithing and is currently designing and creating her own cannon proto-types.  She occasionally plays the flute, but not as often as she’d like.

Relationships

Family:

• Gwendolynn (Daughter):  Gwenny is Kass’ only daughter.  Kass has raised her mostly by herself with some help from an elderly Elezen named Nana Yaya.  Gwenny is adventurous and outgoing, she shows very little fear.  She has features of both her parents, but favors Kass in size.  She has the trademark Miqo’te ears and tail.
• Rosa Dawn (Oldest Sister): Rosa is a natural at all forms of casting and excelled under their mother’s tutelage.  A dominant personality, she would often pick on her two younger siblings.  Rosa left the family home before the calamity and the two sisters had improved their relationship.  Over the past five cycles they have grown distant again as Rosa blames Kass for their mother’s death.
• Isabella Dawn (Middle Sister):Isabella studies the ties between nature and magic.  She is so devoted to her studies that she often forgets the world around her.  Isabella lived with their parents at the time of the calamity and has had no contact with Kass in cycles.
• Ethan Dawn (Father):An accomplished conjurer and white mage, Ethan spends a vast majority of his time working at the Stillglade Fane.  Kass often wondered what kept him away from home so much when she was young.  Now she suspects that his work was his way to escape her mother.  Kass often described him as quiet and distant.  She has not spoken to him in over six cycles.
• Elena Dawn (Mother):A brilliant caster of both white and black magic, Elena’s one devotion was making her family the most important in the fane.  She was a domineering and cruel woman who saw her family as tools to accomplish her goal.  She is currently missing and presumed dead.  Kass may or may not have been involved in her disappearance.

Friends:

•  Alothia Starkwood (Oakenwave): The true leader of Corvus Cinis and Kass’ best friend.  Kass admired Alothia’s spunk, tenacity, and outgoing personality.  Aly disappeared around the time of the calamity.  Kass currently runs Corvus in Aly’s place out of respect for her memory.
• Endricane Feltaro: Kass’ former lover and the father of her daughter.  He had been missing since the calamity.  Kass was torn between believing he is dead and hoping that he would someday return.  She was devastated by the loss of the home he had built for her.  After meeting up with him again, Kass introduced him to their daughter.
• Leander Prideblade: Kass' former lover.
•  Fearless Wynn: Fear is Kass' adopted brother and she feels like she can trust him.  He is the other half of Team Sharktopus.
• Zenge Eien:  One of the first people Kass met in Ul’Dah.  He was Alothia’s second in command.  He is yet another person Kass has lost contact with.
• Burgenheim Rousa: A gentle giant and fellow book lover.  Kass enjoys spending time with him.
• Xenedra Ambreaus: A woman Kass had met a few times before the calamity, but has come to know and respect.  She enjoys watching Xenedra's antics and admires the woman's ability for self preservation.
• Endemerrin Rosethorne: The leader of Blue Skies and Xenedra's boyfriend.  Kass has met him a few times and finds his excitement for engineering and adventuring to be endearing and contagious.
• Abaigail Causland: the bartender/entertainer of tavern soliloquy.  Kass enjoys the tall woman's personality and easy going manner. She finds her blushing to be a source of entertainment, as she herself was once like that.
• Rakka'Li Kuhn: One of the Rakka twins.  Kass finds the young Miqo'te man to be attractive and enjoys speaking and flirting with him.
• Rakka'Sae Kuhn: The other Rakka twin.  'Sae does not speak, but Kass enjoys his company none the less.  She is sometimes unable to decipher his charades.  His youthful behavior almost makes Kass trust him and want to take care of him.

History

The Past

• The Early Years: Kassandra grew up in the forest city of Gridania near the Stillglade Fane. She lived there with her parents and two sisters. Her father was generally absent from her life, as he was almost always working or studying at the Fane. The youngest of the three sisters, Kass spent practically every waking moments with them learning magic casting skills from their mother. Kass developed a keen interest in archery at a very young age and would spend every free moment watching the archers at their practice at Quiver's Hold.

• The Spirit of Rebellion:During her fourteenth cycle, Kassandra began to rebel against the yoke of her mother's strict magic training schedule. Skipping entire lessons ensured that she was often the subject of her mother's angry diatribes and the sole target of her vile temper. Her eldest sister, Rosa, took offense to her frequent absences as well and took it upon herself to find small ways to torture Kass. One time Rosa even burnt the tip of Kass's tail with a fire spell. Rosa insisted that it was all a terrible accident, but Kass had her doubts. To this day, Kass is wary of fire magic and only casts the spell herself on rare occasions.

• A Daring Escape: After almost two cycles of careful planning, Kass stockpiled enough supplies to make an escape. Waiting until her mother was out of the house for an important meeting at the Fane, Kass slipped from the city and hid out in the Twelveswood. Kass moved from camp to camp, mostly sleeping in trees or on the ground. She honded her archery and survival skills during the many cycles she lived in the wood. By her best extimate she lived in the Twelveswood for six cycles without much human interaction. Kass believes she was around 22 cycles old when she left the woods for Ul'Dah.

• Corvus Cinis,a First meeting: Kass traveled by foot, and occasionaly cart, to the desert city of Ul'Dah. Upon her arrival, Kass tried to find work as an archer for hire. She eventually met up with Alothia Starkwood, the leader of Corvus Cinis, and Zenge Eien, her second in command. Alothia offered her a position within the company, which Kass gladly accepted.

Corvus Cinis and Other Events: Kassandra began working at Corvus Cinis as a general member, completing assignments for room, board, and gil. She developed a close friendship with the leader of the group, Alothia. The pair had a great bond and trusted each other with many things. Kass also became great friends with a man she would come to refer to as her brother. She and Fearless were often paired up in the early days. The even came up with a joking name for their pairing: "Team Sharktopus." Kass often had to use her tact to smooth feathers Fear would ruffle with his gruff nature.

Eventually she earned a promotion to the position of company Secretary. Kass relished the nuances of her new job, helping her fellow Corvus members. She was put in charge of correspondence, scheduling, building maintenance, and supplies. She developed an interest in alchemy and started producing potions and salves for Corvus members to use.

While working at Corvus, she met two men who would help shape her future. The first Kaliden, an Elezen man, was Kass' first boyfriend. The relationship did not last long however, as Kal had a penchant for wandering off for extended periods of time without leaving word that's he'd be gone or contacting anyone to let them know he was alive. Shortly after, Kass met Endricane, a highlander man in need of medical attention. Their friendship started with Kass stitching him up after he was stabbed in the side. Eventually, Kass grew to love the solemn man for his gentle and caring nature when they were together.

Moons later, she and Endri decided to leave Ul'Dah and live in the Twelveswood. The chose to settle in Quarrymill and Endri built them a house there. Not long after construction on the house began, Kass discovered that she was pregnant. The pair was delighted by the news and added a nursery into the plans for the house. As they waited and prepared for the birth of their child, tensions between Eorzea's three nations and Garlemald grew worse. Eventually prompting Endricane to take up arms to protect them.
