Biography

Dane does not share his past with many people. It is believed that not even those in his inner circle know the full story of his past.

He was born to a poor mother, possibly a harlot and was apprenticed at a young age to a Tanner on the outskirts of Ul'dah. We do know that Dane ran a small business as a mender directly before the cataclysm and that he managed to eek out enough of a living to afford a small hut on the border of Thanalan and the Shroud. --And then came the fall. Dane never talks about his loss during the fall, however anyone who knew him during this time could see the pain and suffering in his eyes. Despite the loss, he was still determined to go out and do what he could for others who has suffered similar or worse fates than he had. He made his way to Ul'dah in hopes of finding work rebuilding the city. Before he ever reached his destination, Dane realized an even greater need for honest goods to be delivered to the suffering people who had lost nearly everything. He was able to purchase a small cart with what little money he had, and began traveling to different cities, settlements, and hovels. He started by selling tonics, tinctures, and herbal remedies. He would mend peoples pots, pans, trinkets, and toys. He would sell when people had the money, trade when they had items he needed, or simply give things away where people had nothing. His generosity was not lost on those he had helped, and most nights he would find himself with a warm meal and a warm fire to sleep by. It is not known exactly when or how his fortunes changes, but one day, Dane returned to Ul'dah with a chest full of gil, scraps and bruises over his body, and eyes full of promise. The realm was finally getting back on it's feet and Dane know it was time for him to get back on his feet as well. .... This is where Dane's story truly begins.
