Aspects That Stand Out: ■ Zen was born to a mother who went missing, resulting in himself becoming a slave to the stronger. ■ After being an experimental subject, he is found to be capable of great power. ■ Eventually he escaped, fleeing to a college within the Mist. About Zen's screams were well known in the labs of Limsa Lominsa. His blood would be found dotted about them, his tears to be seen every single day. Born to a mother who quickly went missing, Zen was taken at a young age, and forced into slavery. He was reluctant and proved to be resiliant to their punishments when he refused to do as he was told. He didn't believe in slavery, yet also had the will to fight, unlike the other slaves who simply submitted to the rich and powerful. He was different. Soon, his masters became tired of his refusals, and so he was given to Dr Semai, known to be crazy for experimentation, especially on Miqo'te. Truth was, little was known about the race and how they functioned, and so he yearned to find out more. However, his methods resulted in inhumane experimentation, as such only disobedient slaves were taken into his labs. Zen was simply another experiment, one who would teach Dr Semai so much more. Zen faced the horrors of the experiments for years on end, losing the will to fight, losing the will to live. He begged to be killed. They'd marked him, the side of his face showed a dark blue tattoo, claiming him as theirs. None of the other subjects had the mark, he didn't know what caused them to put one on himself. He also lost part of his eyesight to the experiments. One of his sea blue eyes had faded to white, due to Dr Semai's curiousity on his vision. The white eye was completely blind, useless. Dr Semai found Zen to have capabilities beyond the usual Miqo'te. He had magical power within him. As painful as it was for the subject, he had proceeded to implant a 'Soulstone' into him, testing to see if he could handle the power. When he was proved alive, he was quickly restrained more from then on, the experimenters knowing he had a great power within him, that if he learnt how to use, would destroy them. Zen ran from the labs, fleeing to a nearby college. He began to learn how to use his powers there, meeting new people and finally beginning to move on from his past. He was completely fine until he realised they were searching for him, resulting in him having to flee from them whenever he was found. Eventually, he was kicked out of the college when they discovered his past, not wanting anything to do with it. Zen soon fell in love with another Miqo'te, Y'rhin. He began to learn more about the world and the people in it from his new lover, as well as begin to gain the confidence to really be himself. He began to look at himself differently, learning not to hate who he was and his past, but to move forwards and do what he wanted to do now that he was free. Notes: ■ Zen has the White Mage Soulstone implanted into himself. ■ Zen does not know how to use his power as of yet. ■ Zen does not know how to live as a normal being, how to exist in the open world. PERSONALITY Zen is typically quiet, appearing to be shy and nervous. He is kindhearted however, understanding how tough one's life can be. He will always do his best to help people, despite what may become of him. He prioritises others over himself. Zen becomes afraid easily and is untrusting of others, due to his past experiences.
