Overview
By all appearances, just another drab and uninteresting Midlander.
Closer inspection unearths more questions than answers.
Appearance
Imposing is not a word that could be applied to Victoria without a hearty, scornful guffaw immediately following. She's about five and a half fulms in height, all slender limbs, slim hips, and narrow shoulders. The word 'unhealthy' seems to click into place around her like a set of manacles tightened round a wrist. Her skin is the same sickly-white shade of a fish's pallid underbelly, and her washed-out grey eyes are perpetually underscored by bruise-colored smudges born of many stressed and sleepless nights. What nails she has are bitten ragged nearly down to the quick. Her hair is sandy blonde and cropped short.
Victoria's features have enough definition to make themselves known, but the soft angles of her face give away her youth, despite the marks indicating that she's been through some form of accident or ordeal. Her face, hands, and upper body are spattered with what seem to be shrapnel scars. One in particular streaks across her nose, another splits her left eyebrow a third of the way from its end, and the top of her left ear is nicked and tattered.
Personality
Victoria seems to be an extremely anxious person. She's prone to shrinking from conflict or dogged inquiry, cringing away from perceived aggression as though she expects violence. She flinches when touched and pulls away from physical contact as soon as possible.
When asked about herself or what happened to her face, her answers are vague and evasive. If pressed, she will simply insist that she doesn't warrant any extensive interest, or really any interest at all. She is, in her own words, not anyone.
Any verbal misstep or other variety of blunder ends up inevitably followed by a mumbled apology. She seems to expect the worst possible outcome as a penalty for her mistakes. All in all, she apparently strives to avoid any serious scrutiny.
Combat
If questioned about her abilities, Victoria will swear up and down that she cannot fight.
Despite her protestations, she does seem to have some degree of familiarity with the firearms that occasionally pass through her workplace.
History
A blank slate, or so it seems.
No criminal record, no guild membership, not even a bar tab. Questioning the average hyur on the street yields nothing but shrugs and confused looks, and digging into census and citizenship records of any of the three Eorzean city-states reveals that no one by the name of Victoria Castle technically exists before 1579. On paper, she is almost a nonentity.
The fact remains that despite a near-total lack of documentation, there is someone by that name currently in Ul'dah.
Relationships
- Zwynskaet Waekahtynsyn (NPC) Her boss, the seemingly-out-of-place Sea Wolf owner of Waekahtynsyn Arms & Engineering. While canny enough to own a small but fairly successful shop near the Sapphire Avenue Exchange, he's a curmudgeonly old bastard and thus not terribly inclined to answer any probing questions about one of his few employees without a strong incentive.
