Backstory
Singing Raptor is the adopted daughter of a Lalafellin trader and his Ala Mhigan bride, who owned a shop selling pewter jewelry in the Golden Bazaar. While these two likely know more about Singing Raptor's parentage than they initially told her, they both died in the Calamity, so that information will remain buried. Being almost as big as her father at birth, and towering over her mother by her early teens, her adoptive family found it daunting to exert any control over her behavior. She would often run off to play in the desert instead of attending school, her teachers also wary of attempting to discipline a child willing and able to bench-press them. Thanks to this tendency, Singing Raptor is still weak in essential skills such as mathematics and reading maps, among other things. This has proven to be a substantial handicap; for example, an unscrupulous Ul'dahn businessperson was able to take advantage of her mathematical ineptitude in order to defraud her, leaving her with very little money to her name.
Current Plot
Singing Raptor trained under Hamon, master pugilist. Without land or money, she would normally be SOL in Ul'dah, but Hamon was impressed by her advancement and allowed her to sleep on a bench in the guild in exchange for buying him a pint every so often. Hamon then sent her to Forgotten Springs to win the favor of the U tribe by distinguishing herself as a strong fighter, and to learn numerous survival skills along the way. He reasoned that these skills would serve her in and out of combat. While traveling to Forgotten Springs, she was attacked by a horde of Ifrit's tempered. The ensuing fierce battle opened a chakra within her, starting her upon the path to monkhood. However, without an Ala Mhigan monk nearby to recognize this phenomenon, she had no idea what occurred. After concluding her training with Hamon, she eventually found someone willing to train her and instruct her in the ways of chakra, and she can now utilize what chakras she has opened to their full extent. In addition, various Mist residences have opened their doors to her, including that of the Coral Sea, many members of which she has befriended on separate occasions. Her current plot revolves around several strange occurrences, including strange abilities displayed by her company leader, Ventus Zeruel, and violent attacks perpetrated by the mysterious and dangerous Valen Stalhart.
Abilities and Preferences
Competencies
Singing Raptor is wholly at home in combat. Coordinated and deft, every blow is calculated to inflict maximum damage on her unlucky foe and backed by the full force her body can throw into it. When performing any physical activity, as a matter of fact, she throws the entirety of her strength into her movement, driving herself to exhaustion quickly. It was this willingness to devote her energy so completely to physical tasks that resulted in her current state of surpassing physical fitness, and it was this same willingness that caught the attention of Hamon, who has undertaken to train her personally. She has also proven to be a quick student when it comes to chakra, her tendency to put her entire body into her attacks translating surprisingly well to focusing her entire being on the quasi-physical manipulation of aether.
Incompetencies
As discussed above, Singing Raptor is academically dense, particularly in math. She is often susceptible to subtle suggestion, although if she senses she is being manipulated she may retaliate with her fists. She finds weapons unwieldy and awkward and eschews them in favor of unarmed combat techniques. In addition, unlike other Hellsguard, she is practically illiterate when it comes to magic. Having now mastered chakras, she is able to exert a little more control over her own personal aether, and Teleport is no longer out of her grasp. Conjury and thaumaturgy are not feasible as of yet, though, and arcanima, being largely geometry, is right out.

Hopes and Dreams
Class/Job Mastery: Singing Raptor would love nothing more than to become a top-class monk and exert total dominion over her own body.
Social Status: Singing Raptor harbors a secret longing to be accepted into Ul'dah's social elite, and have enough money that even she can't waste it all by being bad at math. She tries to emulate the cultured customers that pass the Pugilist's Guild on their way to the Platinum Mirage, but she's got a long way to go before she comes off as sophisticated. She has never disclosed this wish to anyone; she fears scorn or derision.
Make Ul'dah Great Again: Singing Raptor holds a somewhat idealized view of Ul'dah as an infinitely prosperous and mighty nation state - and the greedy, grimy reality does not sit well with her. She is cavalier with this opinion, harrying Brass Blades and stringing merchants along as her own shortsighted revolution.
