[edit] Details Personality Relationships Rumors Gallery OOC Notes GENERAL INFORMATION Hailing from Limsa Lominsa, this well built young man is an amateur Astrologian and, up until recently, served as the navigator on a merchant ship, using his knowledge of the stars to help it chart its journeys. APPEARANCE The identical twin of Graeham Ridgefield, William bears a strong resemblance to his brother, although his face is kept smooth and clean shaven and his hair more meticulously coiffed. He stands at 6ft3 and is broad shouldered, but not as well muscled as his powerfully built brother. Aspects That Stand Out: ■ Piercing blue eyes. ■ Taller than the average midlander,in spite of his age. ■ Tends to be well dressed, donning fine garments. PERSONALITY Having managed to avoid the turmoil that the Calamity wrought for the most part, William has had an easier life than most Eorzeans. Nonetheless, the disappearance of his father and lack of any real insight into who his mother was has left the young man with many questions, and caused no small amount of grief in his life. He maintains a stoic, friendly demeanour and remains free of cynicism, although he is also known for his impatience. L I K E S ■ Astrology. William's father was a healer, who taught him something of the mending arts. Yet, it was only after he met a traveller from Sharlayan that he truly gained a passion for aetherology, putting his trade to work for the benefit of The Wailing Siren and its crew. ■ Books. Confined on a ship most of the time, William has taken advantage of its surprisingly well stocked library, and as one of the few literate crew members, has almost exclusive access to books spanning topics from the flora and fauna of Vylbrand to the ancient city of Mhach. ■ Chess. In his free time, the youth is often found playing this game, amongst others, with the ship's captain. D I S L I K E S ■ Tardiness. As he is responsible for charting out the routes of The Wailing Siren, William does not like it when others dilly-dally, causing the ship to be late. ■ Recklessness. Being of a cautious and guarded demeanour, William expects others to put the same thought into their actions as he does. H O B B I E S ■ Reading. A consequence of his love for books. ■ Aetherology. In spite of his Garlean blood, William is prodigious in being able to channel aetheric energies, and so enjoys spending his free time summoning these and manipulating their flow and shape. S T R E N G T H S ■ Steadfast. Although he may not look it, William possesses the warrior's resolve for which his Garlean ancestors are famous, or perhaps, infamous. ■ Mental acuity. William excels at tasks that require memorisation and agility of the mind. W E A K N E S S E S ■ Pride. The hybrid can be a little cocky at times which, when coupled with his inexperience, can lead him to fall into compromising situations. ■ Naivety. Most of William's life has been spent on a luxurious merchant vessel. As a consequence of this, he has been somewhat sheltered, and can be blind to the dangers pervading Eorzea and the world at large. ■ Impatience. Owing to his intellect, William can be somewhat irritated by those who are slower when it comes to grasping matters of fact, or with those characterised by a boorish or churlish demeanour.
