[edit] Details Personality Rumors Gallery OOC Notes GENERAL INFORMATION Avlia Swift is an Ala Mhigan born Highlander with boundless energy and a feisty personality. A light-and-kind heart tempered and resolved through conflict and loss; Avlia will be straight to the point, the first to volunteer, and the last to give up. She's not a killer, despite her close relationship with conflict, leading her chosen weapon to be.. nothing. From a young age, she trained her body and mind through pugilism in the hopes that while she knows conflict in unavoidable, she could do as little 'permanent resolution' as possible. The good-natured, hard-bodied, blonde freedom fighter; Avlia Swift. APPEARANCE Shorter than most Highlanders, Avlia might be mistaken for her plains-dwelling cousins if not for her skintone and musculature. A dusty blonde with dark desert-dwelling skin, she is the very picture of an Ala Mhigan national, if not for her blue eyes. Her body, trained for nigh-on two decades through street-fights and later organized bouts, up to and now including spiritual focus through the reborn Fists of Rhalgr to say she was a 'fit woman' might be an understatement. Her form is defined and leanly muscled, her lack of raw bulk masking her true strength. Despite all this hard laboring, good genes have allowed Avlia to maintain her inherited feminine silouette; boasting wide hips and a generous bust. Her face, expressive and animated, is your classic 'pretty'. Sharp features, fierce eyes, and a big smile; she may not have the softness and 'cute' of Midlander, AuRa or Mi'qote, but she's the highlander brand of attractive. Though a childhood scar mars the right side and eye; it is deep but long-faded. Lastly, her hair is often tied into a braided tail, with her bangs acting as a cover for her scar. Occasionally, she's been known to cut her hair unreasonably short before pilgrimages or long trips. A practical hold-over from her youth. Aspects That Stand Out: ■ Her right eye is scarred, leaving it paler than its twin. ■ She loaths full leg coverings, and chances are you can see her thighs. Need to be able to round-house! ■ She is almost-always seen wearing thigh-high longboots and elbow-length gloves coated in a polished Allagan metal. Serving as her weapons. PERSONALITY Fiery, friendly, and well-meaning. It takes a lot to drive Avlia to true anger, and next to nothing to get a rise out of her for fun. She's not one for grim attitudes, melo-dramatics or high tension. Things are always simpler than they seem, and that's her outlook. Not easily offended, nor averse to having fun for its own sake. All in all, Av is a pretty care-free woman, especially now that Ala Mhigo is free. (Less annoying female Zell?) L I K E S ■ Bodily Focus. Working out, training, fighting, play-wrestling, racing, eating, running, jumping, falling, the occasional tumble and the opening of her mind to new sensations and experiences. All that is a Pugilist, all that is a Monk. Avlia is forging a weapon of her own body, and people are lying if they say their weapons aren't fun. ■ Honest Hearts. Avlia flocks to good-natured people. Altruistic, free-caring and helpful folk who put the wellfare of others beyond themselves. Performing an act of charity in front of Avlia is the quickest way to her heart. That, or just be an adorable innocent. D I S L I K E S ■ Villains. Selfish, greedy, power-hungry, cruel, misogynistic, overly-violent people and creatures. Being the antithesis of Avlia's personality, she simply won't abide these kinds of people in her company. ■ Mental Focus. Avlia may have honed her body to a razor's edge, but she lacked the funds and opportunity to inflame a passion for education as a child. (Refugees weren't often expected to perform anything beyond labor.) As such, mental-focused tasks and challenges prove endlessly frustrating for the woman. Often, she'll try to find some way to simply brute force the solution. "If the enemy's shield is invulnerable, just hit it HARDER." H O B B I E S ■ Exploration. Wander-lust has always existed in Avlia, and she rather enjoys finding new and unheard of corners to explore for fun, profit, and the better of Eorzean kind. Doubley-so now that she seeks Battlefields of Olde to open her Chakras. ■ When in doubt: Have some fun. Avlia's utter inability to cope with inactivity means that if she's left idle for too long, she'll find SOMETHING to do. This has manifested in various on-the-spot workouts and dances, as well as taking on whole side-jobs just to stave off periods of waiting. If the alternative is nothing: She'll do anything. S T R E N G T H S ■ Strong Heart, Strong Body. Avlia's biggest strength, of course, is her skills as a Monk and Pugilist. She's nigh-supernaturally strong, even for her frame (See: Unknowingly Using Aether to Empower Self). But beyond that, she's impervious to corruption, or just about. Avlia's moral compass comes first and foremost, and to get Avlia to act against her alignment even slightly would take some miraculous show of wordsmithing or some deep dark blackmail. ■ A Weapon Anywhere. Avlia quite literally cannot be disarmed! Save for the actual removal of her arms and legs, she is always ready and able to go to battle. W E A K N E S S E S ■ Exploit, Contain, Trick. Avlia's trusting and kind-hearted nature leaves her open for manipulation. While your typical brutish badguy will have a scrappy and frustratingly bull-headed opponent, a more subtle and cunning villain can easily turn Avlia's nature against her. Alternatively, you could just slap her wrists and ankles in some really strong steel and wisk her away. M O T I V A T I O N S ■ Betterment of herself, and Eorzea. - Avlia lost her homeland as a child, and recalls the horrors of life as a refugee all too well. She dedicates her life to ensure others never encounter the same fate. She is a freedom fighter through and through, and while Ala Mhigo has won its long-overdue victory there are plenty of others under Imperial yoke she has yet to clobber. I started way back in Dark Age of Camelot so I have seen quite a bit. Don't be worried about surprising me, really. I am a student and teacher, and while my schedule can vary wildly I do love to roleplay with relaxed and fun-seeking individuals. If I have to leave in a hurry, or I seem distracted please realize more than likely something outside of game has come up. Don't take it personally! If you're a chore to be around, we won't be in the situation to begin with. Personal RP Limits As far as the limits for roleplay CONTENT? There is none, really. If you can spin a convincing enough (and fun-sounding) reason for virtually any action I will respond as Avlia would respond. But, when in doubt, you can always feel free to whisper me and ask. ■ I will playany lore-abiding and character-motivated scene or sequence. If it fits in with the game's lore, and it isn't an action motivated by the player (EX. "We just made friends IRL, so now you're my best friend IC.") I am open to it. From lighthearted Manderville-style hijinks to the more brooding and brutal aspects of the story. If it fits the world, I'm in. If it fits I sits. ■ I won't play Storylines that assume actions by Square-Enix controlled characters. ("I'm Thancred's mentor, y'know.") Storylines that imply YOUR character is THE SINGULAR Warrior of Light. None of us is the Warrior of Light. Storylines that blatantly disregard canon. (I am completely fine with someone who doesn't know better, and is willing to adapt once they've learned. I'm in that same boat.) Storylines that are for some reason canon to OTHER Final Fantasies, but not this one. ("I'm from Midgar! You know, the Plate-City?" No. You're not.) Disclaimer Little Tidbits. ■ Post-Length and location: A post should be as long as is appropriate for the setting. If you're in a busy street, simply standing with your hands in your pockets and talking about plans for the evening? I don't need a full description of every strand of hair and how it catches the breeze just right. I won't provide one either. Dialogue-Only roleplay is just fine. On the other side of that: If we're talking a one-on-one session, be it combat or an intense physical challenge or something too lewd for Wiki? Single-sentence responses will be met with eyerolls and me squirming to exit the sequence. (If I post a 300~500 character action in a scene and I'm met with 'So-and-so dodges it.' I'll be a little salty. I'm not after perfect post-length matching, but use your better judgement and spin a yarn of the appropriate length for the moment.) ■ When In Doubt: ASK! ASK! ASK! If you're ever curious what my opinion on an action, or a type of roleplay, or a scene you want to do and need players for? Please go ahead and ask! I promise an earnest and helpful response. Again, you are very unlike to offend, and I tend not to be judgemental. (Not because I'm a saint, but because I simply have too many thoughts in my head to remember petty things like 'Remember that time so-and-so asked if you wanted to do Pokemon RP?' That sort of thing.) CHARACTER TIDBITS Potential Plot Hooks Avlia being the kind of free-spirited wanderer she is, hooking her into a plot is as easy as asking. ■ Avlia is not against treasure-hunting! If you and your company needs an extra hired hand, be it to help explore or just deal with critters she can be easily convinced to join along. For free if she thinks it'll help people! ■ Avlia is an employee at the Manderville Saucer as a Bunny. If you're after an easy way to get into some conversational RP with Avlia to get to know her, this is the simplest method. She literally serves drinks. Just chat up the waitress. ■ Imperial Hunting. It takes almost no effort to sign Avlia on board with any anti-Empire activity. For reasons that should be wholly obvious by now. Character Lore Adherence Avlia is what-you-see-is-what-you-get. She fits in line with the game's lore as closely as my own knowledge allows, but please do let me know if I've conflicted with established canon in some way and I am more than happy to adapt. ■ No changes required.
