Esja has little to say unless spoken to, though her silence does not come from a place of spite. She has lived near Gridania for some time now, but it is not her home, and she does not feel comfortable letting her guard down just yet. However, while she may mean well, she tends to be a bit sarcastic and perhaps finds humor in things others may not. Some people would say that she is a pleasure to be around while a select few would caution you to take what she says with a grain of salt. Her disposition is a stoic one, and her expressions are often very faint and hard to read. Her smile may register as a smirk, and a furrowed brow may simply mean that she is lost in thought. She is relatively fluent in common tongue, but sometimes she struggles to comprehend the emotion behind certain phrases and words, hence her hesitation to convey a response without thinking it over. Esja takes great joy in observing rather than participating. She can be social and sometimes flourish, though more often than not, it requires a bottle of wine and a push for good measure. Being surrounded by good company doesn't hurt, either. If the need arises to break down her walls, the quickest way to get her to open up is to talk about her business. As a botanist and a merchant, she could talk for hours about her passion. On the contrary, her lips are sealed when it comes to her past. Esja is a very tolerant woman and does not discriminate against others regardless of where they hail from. When threatened, however, she makes it very clear that gardening wasn't always her calling, and while she isn't one to fight, she has a good eye and an accurate aim.
