History

Before the Calamity

Selwyn grew up in a decent sized home on the outskirts of Gridania. He lived with his parents(Christof and Juliana Stryke), younger siblings(Chelsea and Manton Stryke), and maternal grandparents (Govan and Donna O'Criadhen). He had a pretty normal childhood (or what one would call a normal in Eorzea) for the most part up until the events leading to the battle of Cartaneu/Fall of Dalamund. Selwyn always considered the things outside of his personal life to have nothing to do with him. No matter what stories he would hear about the Beast Tribes, Primals, or Garlean Empire, Selwyn cared little to nothing about them. To him those problems belong to those who lived those groups, and nothing more.

He thought that line of thinking was fine until the day his parents informed he and his siblings that they would be joining the Eorzean Alliance to help in an upcoming battle. It was no secret to anyone in their town that Juliana was considered a first class Bard/Scholar or the Christof was a very powerful Warrior, but these things did not matter to Selwyn. To him these two powerful fighters were just his parents and they had nothing to do with this war. It bewildered him as to why they would risk their lives for people they knew nothing about.
