Basic Info

J'takra is a high functioning alcoholic, with an ego the size of Eorzea and a chip on his shoulder over many stupid things. His entire existence is based on the denial of things that bother him, and he has embraced a meaninglessly hedonistic lifestyle. He does have his good qualities, but finding them tends to require time and effort.

Appearance

Lean, wiry, and perhaps even a little slim from infrequent eating, J'takra is rather light on his feet. Typically armed with either a cocky smirk, or a grumpy frown, you can be sure that he's never seen without a bent and battered cigarette between his lips. His hat has also become something of a fixture, and always seems to find it's way back to him, even if lost. (Like some kind of fashionable boomerang.)

He is a couple of inches taller than average, which doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, since he's still a tiny miqo'te. His skin is pale, and his face framed with long, brilliantly red hair that reaches down to just below his shoulders. His ears are particularly fluffy towards their base, and his tail moreso towards the tip, ending in a few slightly darker stripes.

He looks like the kind of person who would make you want to keep an eye on your wallet, that much is certain. His voice is quite smooth, perhaps from all the drinking, and has a certain sensual quality to it, at least when he's not yelling insults. The last feature of note are his eyes, which are golden-yellow in color, and betray the sharp, predatory intellect that he hides behind his personality wall.

Personality

Something of a sociopath, J'takra finds it highly difficult to relate to other people's feelings. Because of this, he often comes off as incredibly selfish and inconsiderate to those around him. He has a tendency to just say things without any thought given to how it may impact someone else, and it takes a lot of effort on his part to force himself into not being a total jackass.

He has a mean sense of humor, and a highly addictive personality. He often finds himself fixating on things, which he then has a lot of trouble letting go of later. Nowhere near as oblivious or uninformed as he lets on, he often uses his behaviour to keep others at a distance. Drinking a lot also helps to dull the fact that he is very much aware of all his own contradictions and shortcomings. In spite of everything, he somehow manages to maintain a giant ego.

He has a rather fiery temper at times, but generally isn't inclined to let it escalate into physical violence, though there are exceptions. Behind his arrogant, hateful and joking wall of indifference, he is actually a bit of an insecure depressive, but that rarely shines through due to the fact he hates talking about himself.

Habits

Drinking and smoking are the most blatantly obvious of the lot, but there are plenty others, and some are harder to pick up on. J'takra is a habitual liar, and will just lie about anything, even when he has no reason to do so. Not everything he says is a lie, obviously, but he will weave them in fairly consistently.

He tends to make jokes, or throw out mean comments to distract people from topics he doesn't like to discuss. Or in some cases, just flat-out runs away from his problems. Any mentions of homosexuality or feelings tend to make him pissed, and he regards anyone taller than he is with great disdain.

Perhaps the biggest, yet least obvious one, is his fixation on pushing situations until he gets his way, or 'wins', and then immediately backs out instead of following it through. There are exceptions, depending on whether or not the thing he wanted outweighs his pride, denial or fears on the matter, but pulling such a move is not uncommon for him.

RELATIONS

Romantic Interest Platonic Love Good Standing Neutral Poor Standing

J'sahr Tia : Tak's twin brother. Once close, the two haven't spoken since a difference in opinion led to a massive fight, and a rather wide rift formed between them. They went their separate ways after leaving the tribe two years ago, and are still on terrible terms. Perhaps one day they will speak again, but both are stubborn and unwilling to make the first move.

K'hatos : One might say that Tak's life is essentially bound to this Seeker. Never has a conversation been able to swing from pleasant, to angry and resentful, and then back again in such a short period of time. K'hatos tends to be the more reasonable one, with a few exceptions, while J'takra provides most of the conversational drama. When talking with K'hatos, the smallest things can set him off.

Leodaire Beltardois : A tall, well dressed Elezen from Ishgard. Leo and Tak have very little in common, but somehow became friends through the magical power of back and forth insults. Leo is still something of a mystery to J'takra, appearing for unannounced visits, or sparking up sudden conversations over the pearl, before disappearing again, just as abruptly. Not an easy person to figure out.

Oyuu Dataq : A tall, slightly imposing Au Ra who has agreed to be Tak's thaumaturgy teacher. (Lets feel bad for him already.) Strangely enough, J'takra held a lot of hatred towards Oyuu in the beginning, but has already come to respect, and even kind of like the Xaela. He won't actually admit it, but he places high value on the lessons, and is very eager to learn more of what Oyuu can show him. Provided he doesn't keep messing it up.

Shiori Eikitaika : a friendly and pretty Raen who works as a healer at the carbuncle. This is probably one of the most straight forward friendships Tak has, which is good because the rest of them are a mess! (He just isn't good at friends, okay?) Somehow she can deal with all of his shit, and even if he won't say as much, he appreciates her for it. They got off to a rocky start, but that just tends to happen, because Tak is an ass.

Naomi Bril : The manager of the Ruby Carbuncle, and Tak's boss. He once had a bit of a thing for the female keeper, but a few too many beatings, slappings and screaming matches learned him his lesson! He has learned to tread carefully around her, as he sees her as a little mental and inconsistent.

Kenji Eikitaika : Friendships sometimes spring up in strange places, and that is certainly the case with this Au Ra. After a few punches, many gay jokes and a lot of arm-breaking threats, the pair shared a conversation that changed their dynamic. Not to mention the fact that Kenji agreed to help him with his aiming skills, which are, quite frankly, pretty shit.

OOC notes

Anything said or done while in character is just that, purely the character. I like to let RP pan out naturally and that can sometimes lead to all kinds of crazy situations. I'm very casual about these things OOCly, and seeing as I play a rather abrasive character, would just like to note that nothing said or done by him reflects my personal feelings.

Something I don't condone is tying up someone's character in RP, and then leaving them hanging. That's just not cool, man. The same goes for stealing RP away from others. I very much like to let my character do what he would do, but if it ends up stepping on any toes OOCly, I will back out. It's meant to be fun, after all!
