Pardon my dust) Samuru Lantis is a well known Master Alchemist, having dedicated nearly his entire life into perfecting his craft. He seems to have a more motherly personality which he imparts on all he meets, a warm and welcoming demeanor that seems to please those around him. Aspects That Stand Out: ■ Samuru has heterochromia, which gives his eyes two separate colors. The right eye is green while the left is blue. ■ He is extremely feminine in both build and fashion choice. Many mistake him for a woman at first glance, but the slight thrum to his voice usually gives him away. ■ He is very short for an average Elezen. Standing at only 5'9", many have dubbed him a 'teacup Elezen' thanks to his small stature. He doesn't seem to mind, and if anything likes the nickname. ■ With a very bright and vibrant fashion sense, it is easy to see that his favorite color is blue. He tends to pick peacock palettes to match his unusual eyes, sticking with blues and greens on average. About Samuru Lantis, birth name Samuoux, was raised in the heart of the Black Shroud. He was the only son to two purists parents, both of which held strict world views regarding the Elezen race as superior. This behavior may be more suited to Ishgard, but in the Shroud not as many were keen to agree. This caused Samuru to contend with a great deal of push back and bullying. To make matters worse Samuru didn't appear to be interested in any of the professions Gridania was well known for, much to the annoyance of his father. Young Ru spent a majority of his time studying alchemy and toying with plants, and his father was persistent to break him of 'foolish habits'. He tried to force Ru into taking up Lancer as it had been his profession in his younger years. Ever defiant and insistent on doing what he liked he continued to practice alchemy in secret, intentionally going against the wishes of his family. While he did adore his mother she never seemed to stand up for him, causing a bridge to burn between the pair. While studying to become an Arcanist he came across a plucky midlander Hyur. A bit over his head for a mission he'd been sent on, this Hyur came to his aid and rescued him from peril. Ru would come to find his name was Isen and he didn't seem keen on having friends. After being bullied and pushed away most of his life by his peers, the brush off didn't impact him and he continued to follow Isen around. What started off turbulent eventually became a comradeship and Samuru made the choice to leave home then and there. His parents were furious with his life choices and disowned Ru once they learned of his secret practices, and his new found friendship with an 'inferior' race. From then on Samuru became an adventurer, with Isen by his side. They traveled from one end of Eorzea to the next, taking on the world. Notes: ■ Samuru is a very motherly, doting sort. This means he typically gets along with everyone although this can be tested. ■ He is a Master Alchemist and a Summoner, both professions he takes a great deal of pride in. But some would dub him a 'mad scientist' for the experiments he likes to perform. ■ He is extremely loyal to his long time partner and husband. He considers Isen his entire world and would strike down any attempting to get between that. PERSONALITY The epitome of a gracious host, Samuru is a very welcoming and helpful sort. He opens his arms to those that are in need and he always has a cup of tea waiting for visitors. A good way to describe him is akin to a 1950's house wife. He has always dreamed of marriage, settling down and raising a family. While he did do adventuring for a time he considered that a part of his life that was a stepping stone toward what he has now. It is not to say that he doesn't have aspirations or other interests. But he has put his husband and home as the top priority on his list, and he intends to take care of both. There are times he can come off as arrogant and even a know-it-all, believing his wealth of experience gives him an advantage. He is compensating for an isolated and cruel childhood which lacked much in the way of love and acceptance. But even when he does dictate it comes from a place of good, intending to try and save others from the pain he himself had suffered. On the whole he is a fiercely loyal ally once you gain his trust, and his stack of skills come in handy in a pinch. A bit of a pacifist, he prefers a sneakier approach when intending attack. In one on one combat he hones the skills of the Summoner, inflicting painful and unpleasant diseases on his target. While they aren't permanent, the intense burn and nausea that come on will make it feel like an eternity. Usually he will cast and run, using his abilities as more of a distraction than a method to kill his opponent. If all else fails he will use his strongest skills, tapping into his devoted grimoire to release deadly beams of light that render flesh from bone. These occurrences are rare, however, and poison is usually his first choice. ✦ Weapon: His two most notable weapons are his grimoire that he keeps by his side at all times. He also has a cocktail of different poisons and disabling agents that are quite potent depending on the dose. About the only roleplay I tend to avoid is anything combat related. I'd much prefer to build characters and stories than do fighting sequences, unless they are story arc based. ■ Teir 1 Combat: An old Tier combat system from Cheetah/Yahoo Chat days. This system is something I grew up using and enjoy thoroughly. This system uses detailed paragraphs (I don't expect 4+ paragraphs) to explain actions that are being placed in combat. It uses a roll system which the person playing the attack will roll and the defender will need to roll higher to defend. Critical hits are welcomed in this system and often are considered if the difference between rolls are over 700 (using ingame /random rolls) ■ Designated Personal Systems: Everyone has their own system for group combat RP which they themselves made or they made for their Free Company. I am open to discovering, learning, and uses all kinds! ■ Slider Scale: While I do not mind a slider scale of abilities, I would very much like to limit my usage of this system in any roleplay. ■ Freeform/Honor System: I will only acknowledge the honor system with people I trust or know won't be literal jerks in RP. I will often request the basic roll system (See t1) for fights with people I do not truly know but am willing to Freeform/Honor system it if you can prove you are not going to just Naruto/Bleach up the fight as well as avoid EVERYTHING thrown at you, even within less then an inch of the attack. OOC NOTES OOC INFORMATION Player Note I have a very clear distinction when it comes to OOC/IC. They must remain separate at all times if we are to RP together, especially on an extended basis and I reserve the right to end interactions should this be impeded upon. I've been burnt heavily by people mistaking IC care and OOC friendship and attention with romantic regard and honestly I don't wish to go through another such debacle once more. If my character dislikes yours that does not mean I hold the same sentiment. If my character loves yours that does not translate to me feeling the same for you, though I might feel a platonic equivalent. I am not my characters and they are not me. Respect this and we shall get along famously. Personal RP Limits I don't have very many hardcore limits honestly as I feel consequences must be adhered to when RPing any character regardless of whom they might be. However there are a few exceptions to this and they are as follows. ■ I will play Almost anything that isn't described below. ■ I won't play Death, Rape, Maiming, ERP only Plots. I don't mind romance but it needs to be earned and respected. Do not try and force your character on to mine. If I feel this is the case I will quickly end the RP and speak with you OOCly to either correct the issue or end the RP connection between the two in a faithful manner both parties can agree upon. I can get pretty into RPing out consequences however and while I do my best to make sure permission is had and everyone is comfortable I'm not perfect. If you have a problem speak up. ■ This is a broad statement for all my characters, but I have a hard limit of at least two months before I'll allow my character to enter a relationship. A good friend mentioned their own rule regarding this and I greatly respected the idea of it, so I'll be putting it into practice myself. I've been burned far too many times by hasty RP relationships and want to make it clear from the get go so there is no misunderstanding. If your character is trying to romance my own, be prepared for it to take awhile.
