Overview

Hotaru is a short, Hingahi born Hyur from across the vast sea. Arriving around the same time as lady Yugiri and her people, Hotaru is often found within the Mor Dhonan area in Revenants Toll, assisting where it is possible.

Like most of her kin, Hotaru is fond of nature and the sudden, frail nature of the world. Nothing lasts forever and it is in the understanding of this that she finds some sort of solace.

Recently, Hotaru has become very ambitious. Taking up multiple trades and while mastering none she has found her stride as a weaver, apothecary apprentice and a part time cook for her own company. It is with this confidence she attempts to learn a martial practice as to not rely solely on her companions.

Appearance

Hotaru is the shortest person in her family (though, only by half a head, she would argue) Hotaru is used to relying on others for assistance. Her hair an unusually colored white-grey due to an aether-related illness. Her poise and standing stature often convey more height than she has. With hazel-Amber eyes due to long-mixed bloodlines of Garlean/Eastern origins, Hotaru skips out on the usually mandarin tinge skin of her kin, born with a lighter pale hue considered more fair.

Scars & Markings: Her skin is generally pretty flawless, and usually clean. Recently, however, Hotaru has obtained a few cuts on her fingers and bruises along her forearms and legs due to a new training regiment. Her fingerbeds home to hardened skin due to the tough labour required from a craftsman. A notable figure on Hotaru's face is a beauty mark, just on the lower side of her pink lip.

Voice: Despite her size, Hotaru has a relatively mature voice. A softness carried in her tone purposefully as to displace the more adult tones. Her vowels are often rounded and her accent is obvious.

Clothing: Hotaru dresses in garb from home or loose fitting, comfortable attire that breathes well in the Limsian and Ul'dahn heat. As a protestor of the cold, even the smallest travel north warrants a heavy woolen coat. A signature of the Doman girl is a hat, it is rare to see her without one.

Personality

A soft spoken and thought out individual at the best of times and a complete child at the worst of times. Hotaru's personality is vast and expansive depending on the familiarity of the person she is interacting with.

Her passions lead her to new horizons, the best fuel for poetry being the expense of ones own mind. Thus, Hotaru is often asking her friends and peers for assistance traveling around the vast lands of Eorzea. At times she can sometimes be found lost in her thoughts or thinking deeply on issues relating to herself. This leads to the common factor of Hotaru over thinking most situations and coming to the worse off scenario.

In reality, Hotaru's main reason for the lack of combat ability is her clumsiness. She is relatively light-footed but often she trips over her own feet before she can manage to move correctly. Thankfully, she recovers quickly from embarrassment (despite what the scarlet cheeks may convey). Saving face is incredibly important for Hotaru, so she often tries to only make a fool of herself in private.

Hotaru is not a very physically or magically capable person. Her life prior to Eorzea had been dedicated to the fine arts that was expected of a young noble lady. Thus, most of the time in a combat situation she relies on the assistance of her allies and companions to defend her. At times, this can lead to her hiring some relatively unscrupulous peoples.

Recently, however, Hotaru has taken up learning the short sword from a friend in Aethertide company, and while the work is hard it is equally rewarding. Her base understanding of how Doman blades are handled, however, does not assist her in efforts learning the Eorzean style of fighting.

Fishing

Hotaru is a very capable fisher. It is her main reason for traveling the vast continent thus far. Many of her prized catches hang on the walls of prominent guilds and despite her small size, she has no issue reeling in some of the deep blues monstrosities. Her favorite fishing location is off a private vessel in the Rhotano sea, she hopes to catch and prize a Nepto Dragon.

While Hotaru is not the best of fighters, she still knows how to handle a knife in very tense situations. Stolen from her brothers collection, this blade is always on her person.

A fishing rod that has caught many silver-sharks and megalodons.

Hotaru was born on a warm day, a unusually warm day for the bustling trade port city of Kugane. She, and he brother only minutes apart. It was with her first breath that she cursed her family the first time. Her mother dying shortly after the strenuous process leaving her father a Widower.

Childhood in a wealthy family went as one would predict. While spoiled and raised on the luxuries many of her people knew not of, she was raised to obey her fathers commands and meet his expectations. From learning the doman harp, painting and calligraphy, Hotaru worked extremely hard to please her family in need for the acceptance her brother so easily earned.
