"For someone like me, my past is irrelevant, filled with infinite possibilities that may never be confirmed nor denied. Rather than focus on what could have been I'm going to focus on what will be; I've been given a second chance whether I wanted it or not and I have every intention of using it, it's the only thing I know I have."
-- Hiro, during his last night at the First Light Orphanage.

Wandering Bladesman Hiro Ayami (24th Sun of the 1st Astral Moon) is a young man without a past. Waking into a strange yet familiar world, Hiro emerged the aftermath of the Fall of Dalamund with no recollection of his name or past self, deeds, or memories. Despite injuries that had been deemed impossible to recover from, he spent two years with those that rescued him from the ruins of battle and rehabilitated himself. Soon after he set out to explore the world once more, to study and observe, hopefully to regain his lost history, and create a new one at the same time.

Years later he continues to wander the realm, at times acting a mercenary, or an extra farm hand, and at others a taciturn Guardian who's motives are only known to himself.

Basic Info

A man without a past, there are seemingly none who know of the Doman before he surfaced in Eorzea shortly after the calamity. Found amongst survivors he was taken in by an orphanage where he recovered from the injuries inflicted by the fall and worked amongst the caregivers to pass time. Once physically fit he sought to earn money t repay the people who'd taken him in and assisted him through his ordeal.

Eventually he found easy coin partaking in fights within the Blood Sands. Marketed as an exotic warrior from across the seas he quickly made a name for himself besting opponents with a combination of martial prowess beyond his years and a deadly foreign martial form. A participant for over two years he would be brought into the fold of adventuring. Using the name he'd built up for himself he sold his services as a sword for hire, guarding expeditions many would shy away from. {br}>Brb> By chance he fell into a sum of money that would eventually lead him to becoming a financial supporter of an aspiring Paramilitary Organization, Enses Azorium, a group of mercenaries and adventurers who took on larger militaristic jobs. His new found role put him into a side lined position, and eventually had his expertise utilized for reconnaissance and intelligence gathering on behalf of the free company. Over the years he has turned a small unit of agents beneath him into a vast information network that spans the entire continent. It has become a network that has become ingrained within the various layers of society, one that many know exist but let be both out of respect for it's uses and weariness for potential backlash from an force of unknown proportions.

  • Hiro is not a Scion nor does he possess the Echo.
  • Despite his appearance he has an abnormally high constitution, requiring less time to sleep, specially honed reflexes, and strange knowledge of otherwise exotic subjects. All are byproducts of his former life, and while not indications of super natural abilities, they could be viewed as signs of specialized training and perhaps minor tampering to those who are keenly observing his movements.
  • Hiro has been ICly and OOCly been building this network since 2.0's release, if you are interested in joining his group of informants do not hesitate to contact me (Hiro) in game or on the RPC (Hiro), the group is six linkshells deep certain individuals becoming part of multiple as they change and grow. Provided you follow the guidelines as laid out it is a very easy group to become a part of and should not restrict your characters other RP in any way!

Personality

Often perceived as being cold and aloof, his stoic persona is wrought out of necessity, the only reason he hasn't gone mad from his memory loss and circumstances surrounding it. Unfortunately, while his ability to step back and rationalize situations and circumstance has saved him, it is also the only way he's been able to approach the world, and at times has put him at odds with friends and allies. Despite his outward disposition and contrary to the belief of some, Hiro is not devoid or stunted emotionally, in fact he has a surprisingly good ability to gauge other people on an empathetic level. Capable of reading subtleties in mood, speech, and body language, he has a frightening robotic approach to the human condition, registering and quantifying such interactions with cold analytical reasoning.

On a general level, Hiro is a fairly honest person, usually willing to answer inquiries as simply as possible, not one for mincing words or causing misunderstandings. He also has a strangely cynical view on romantic relationships, though its something founded more upon observation of circumstances and requirements. In his own logic, he simply doesn't have the time or ability to commit to such a situation, believing himself unable to devote the necessary focus to such an arrangement. It also is something he believes will change his current 'self' something he does not wish to tread into while he continues his seemingly reckless way of life.

His search for his past is something he tends to pass off as a secondary goal, and while that statement is more often than not the truth, it has become one of the reasons he is so detached from society. Innate fears of who or what he once was and the guilt of imposing that onto another keeps him from yearning for intimacy, worries over a past that may come to harm those close to him keeps him at arms length from his friends. He wanders between Cities due to these fears and seeks solitude once the anxiety reaches a breaking point in his mind.

Rumors

Rumors, PC and NPC alike, feel free to add any you'd like!

"Saved by an' Old Elezen Swordsman I reckon, used to come here together a while ago, back then though the kid could barely walk. Fine lad too though he seems oblivious to the finer of the sexes of you ask me, might be that he's sly y'know? Not that I'm judging or anything." -- Momodi [NPC]
"Ain't laid eyes on his type of skill in a while; sure there's talent out there, then there are those who're born killers- like him." -- Flame Corporal [NPC]

Relationships

Hotaru Gin - "You are my fortunate future." (Good | Romantic/Physical Attraction)

The two first met by passing chance in the Quicksand, a brief encounter that sparked several others of a similar nature though seemingly little more beyond that, in truth he would be meeting the love of his life. Hotaru has been an unexpectedly important figure in his existence, one that he has grown to love and care for contrary to his somber and often cold perspective. She has a habit of bringing out the more hidden aspects of his personality being one of the few people he's allowed himself to maintain any sort of closeness to, practically the only person he trusts openly. With the recent acceptance from her father, Shirogane Gin, the two are arranged to be wed, something that he does not often share openly as private as he is, but is quite proud of.

Nylesa Tou - "You really should try being more personable Hiro." (Neutral)

A strange girl he encountered in Ul'dah with a penchant for Sandwiches. She's quirky and energetic with a hidden serious side to her that Hiro has more than once explored. Despite their differences and clearly varied views on the world they're capable of working well together. Along with their mutual acquaintances, Nylesa seems to have taken it upon herself to try and make Hiro a more personable individual despite his bland protests.

Their relationship is rather strained these days with Hiro thrown entirely into work he has little to no time working alongside one with so little focus. He has since made plans to alter their business arrangements and resume his work alone realizing the woman's focus and his own do not mesh. The revolts in Ul'dah have only strained this arrangement further as Hiro is very much aware of how cold and uncaring his point of view may be. Her relationship to Dresden Voltaire only strains things even further as he now views her as a very likely threat (and possible casualty) in the event that their spy games meet a crossroads.

Menelwen Veara - "I'm really glad to have met you." (Good)

An elegant Elezen woman he met through Nylesa. She has come off to Hiro as the groups self appointed caretaker, standing in almost a motherly figure or 'big sister' role. Despite her connections to Nylesa and her own occasional teasing of the matter, she seems one of few who do not seem pressed to correct Hiro's lack of approachability. Strangely enough the two have spent time in reversed roles and despite himself, Hiro has found himself monitoring her emotional and mental state, using his own indirect means of spurning her onward.

Her level head has lead Hiro to trusting her judgement, and as such he does trust her with some intimate secrets that he would not normally. Even so, while she may be one of the closest friends he's opened up to, there are still a great deal many secrets he keeps from her.

Rhysati Lhea - "You're the only competent fool I know of." (Good)

Rhysati is a strange woman, caring and matronly in her own way though her taciturn and cold nature manifests itself quite often, especially in her interactions with Hiro. He appreciates her plain spoken manner and seems to be able to understand her methods of thinking easy enough compared to others. He views her as Enses' matron, a strange motherly figure who naturally assumes a leadership role through her nurturing habits.

Dresden Voltaire - "Are you sure you aren't a homunculus?" (Neutral)

When Hiro and Nylesa first joined the Piquant Pumpkin staff Dresden was one of the first members they met. He has a playful demeanor and often teases Hiro, others he seems genuinely concerned at Hiro's lack of action regarding his Hyur tendencies, comparing him to a construct of some sort devoid of desire.

Recent events have put the two against one another. Having thwarted and killed several Ishgardian Spies due to various circumstances, Hiro suspects Dresden is either carefully watching him or, preparing to strike out against him. Even so, Hiro bears the man no ill will, though is weary of those that share their inner circle, as none have ever seen him truly bare fangs at an enemy, and he fears once they do, Dresden may not be the only one he needs to strike down.

Deverell Jinx - "Why hello there~" (Good)

An employee of the Piquant Pumpkin and mutual friend or acquaintance to many Hiro knowns. He has a playful and upbeat personality when he isn't brooding over something, or someone. For the most part he offers a nice change of pace whenever he is around.

Gus Pumpkinweed - "Coitus!" (Good)

The Owner of the Piquant Pumpkin Cafe Enterprise. He is an outgoing and direct man of business with many strange habits and actions that fascinates Hiro. He approached Hiro with a job offer, and while not sure what his position is entirely, Hiro has found himself swept up in commotion of the Pumpkin Cafe and all of its Spooktacular strangeness.

Bird - "Tweet tweet." (Good)

A chubby little bluebird that Hiro made the mistake of feeding whilst in Gridania. It has since followed him, and while initially an annoyance, taking care of the feathered creature has developed into a habit. Nylesa seems to believe the animal makes Hiro more approachable and appreciates its presence, others continually suggest renaming it to something other than 'Bird'. Hiro often jokes about Menelwen preparing it for dinner, or that he merely keeps it around as an emergency meal.
