Biography

Early Years

Lucient was born in city-state of Sharlayan, a fact he never hesitates to bring up if it serves to make him appear more knowledgeable and worldly. Valenteauxs were old money, preserved by generations of coattail riding. Their children were given the best of the best, and never knew struggle or want for anything that money couldn't buy. Except a unicorn. Lucient never got a unicorn and it still serves as a chip on his shoulder.

Unreasonably proud as he is of his heritage, he essentially grew up in the Shroud and not Sharlayan-- another fact he often neglects to add. Shortly after the fall of Ala Mhigo in 1557 his family moved to the North Shroud, just outside of Coerthas, so they could be closer to Luciaine's side of the family. It was a preemptive measure decided by the Sages of Thaliak, predicting a similarly grim fate for their city-state as the Garleans continued to expand their empire by force. It was also an opportunity to expand their ranks, taking on their pick of Ala Mhigan refugees fleeing their fallen city through the Shroud. Kael Copperblade was one among many.

He's carried a torch for the man since Lucient was still in adolescence, and it never quite seemed to burn out even after his six year period of isolation following the Calamity. The two were reunited after Lucient reached out to him with the goal to rebuild the Sages of Thaliak. Together, they raise Lucient's niece, Lisette, sharing custody with Lucient's younger sister. ● Sigurd Rainecourt - A fellow scholar. They explored Nymian ruins together with their team. Lucient has agreed to help him decipher an old tome. ● Xiaoli Vorgan - Neighbors! Lucient finds her dear, and the couple's young daughter even dearer. Still, he can't help but suspect something fishy and criminal is going on at their Free Company's estate and occasionally takes to peeping out the window Mrs. Kravitz style. ● Reinette Sompt - Sigurd's girlfriend. A Duskwight. He put too much effort into being totally not-racist that he came off as totally racist. Awkward. ● Renaud Becquerel - Lucient plugged his gaping, oozing flesh-wounds with his healy-hands as Renaud bled all over his pristine white robe. That was a thing that happened. He saved the man's life after Dhemgeim ran him straight through with her blade. That robe was never the same again.

NPCs Caiceroix Valenteaux, Father. Born Sharlayan. Founded the Sages of Thaliak in 1554 in Sharlayan. It fell with the Calamity, along with many of its members while they were exploring Gelmorran ruins. The deaths of his men, his eldest daughter, and her wife rattled him to the core and he chose escapism as his coping method, impulsively fleeing to Limsa Lominsa to work at the Bismarck and leave his past behind. Luciaine Valenteaux, Mother. Born Ishgardian. Followed her father to Sharlayan after the separation of her parents. She was, and is still, a sensational fashion designer and lived in Ul'dah apart from Cai for many years. Their separation was finalized shortly after the Calamity. Jeanne Valenteaux, Sister. Deceased. Feliciane Valenteaux, Sister. Lisette Valenteaux, Niece.
