Sebastian Qerel is a terrifying and powerful Dark Knight whose past had lead him on the path he walks today. He is confident, arrogant, wrathful and often troubled about his past. He arrived at Ishgard at the age of 19. After being accused of dark art practices, He was severely beaten and sentenced to death by the Paladin Inquisitor Grebix Brausin. He was then saved by a Dark Knight and soon to be mentor. Seeking vengeance, Sebastian requested to become his protege and the Dark Knight accepted. Within a year, Sebastian will become a Dark Knight but at a price. Sebastian got his vengeance but felt no satisfaction or victory but only dread as his mentor died in his hands. He will forever carry this burden with him along with many others in his past and continue forward but how long can he on this. Only time can tell.

The thing that sticks out the most are his eyes. The combination of his dark bags, snow white face, emotionless/ serious expressions, and the color of his eyes gives me a terrifying appearance. His very gaze can make the weak hearted faint. When he stares at you is as though being toss into the abyss. He wears all black Armour with a necklace tuck away inside. His apathetic expression can tell a faint story about his past. His horns have metal plating on their sides and a scar on his right cheek scale of his face. His hair his medium length and is in braided tail. His bangs cover the right side of his face.

He's not somebody to start fights nor back down when weapons are drawn. He strikes to kill and shows no mercy but He won't pursue you if you run away. He travels alone to avoid needless attention and only enter cities when repairing armor, stocking up supplies or picking up a job. Biography

Life In the Azim Steppe

Born from the Borlaaq tribe, as tradition he was given up on his first year and was given no name by his birth mother He was abandoned in the Azim wilderness wrapped in a Borlaaq blanket left to die. He was found by a Xaela huntman from the Qerel tribe, Barachin. Who barely recused the Xaela baby from a pack of gedan. Barachin brought him to his tribe and family. there, he would live with the Qerel tribe and his new family and was then given the name Koghun.

At the age of 10, he would train under Barachin to hunt and fight with a lance. Koghun looked up to his adopted father Barachin and wanted to become a great lancer like him. He also has three sisters who would make sure Koghun stays out of trouble and do his chores before sneaking off somewhere but life here wasn't without little hardship. Some of the other boys would avoid him, telling him that he's unwanted, a outsider and would get into fights with them.

At the age of 14, he (along with the other young hunters in the tribe) went through the Qerel rite of passage But before going on his trial. Brarachin wishes him luck and passes his lance to Koghun. Then presented the Borlaaq blanket that Koghun was found in, telling him how he was found and where he came from.

:Barachin: "No matter where you're from or what others will call you, You will always be Koghun of the Qerel Tribe. Son of Barachin of the Qerel Tribe."

Koghun would be the last to return but successful from his trial. The tribe hosted a celebration in honor of their success on that night. Unfortunately the proud moment was shortly lived for the they were caught off guard by a night raid from an unknown tribe. Barachin ordered Koghun to take his mother and sisters away and keep them safe. Koghun took his family away from the chaos and rushed back to aid Barachin, disobeying his orders. In the mists of the fighting, Koghun was bested by one of the attackers. Moments from death, Barachin rushed in, shielding him and taking a fatal wound to the chest but managed to kill the attacker. Koghun stood there helpless as his father laid there dying before him. The Qerel were victorious but suffered many losses; Among them was Barachin. Koghun, full of anguish and guilt, will forever blame himself for his death. If he would had been stronger, then Barachin wouldn't had to sacrifice his life to save his.

At age 15, He leaves the tribe to roam the Steppe to become a stronger warrior. He would wander the Steppe, meeting new tribes and avoiding others. His travels would lead him to the Othard's mountainous eastern reaches where there he would meet a sweet Raen girl named Aisuru, after attempting to steal some of the livestock. He would visit the Raen village, just to see her. Everyone in Aisuru's village were a little intimidated by Koghun's rugged appearance and piercing purple eyes. So they would leave to the outskirts of the village and would spend the day talking, Learning each others customs and each other, He stood near the village for 4 months but Koghun knew he could not stay any longer and leaves, but before going, He makes a promise to Aisuru that he will come and visit again.

Weeks later he joined a small warband led by a young Xaela warrior named Burilgi. Burilgi and Koghun became close and evenutally became Brothers of War. A title given in their warband, symbolizing a brotherly bond between comrades.

From ages 15-18, Koghun would roam the steppe with Burilgi's tribe, warring with other tribes and sneaking away to visit Aisuru, eventually falling in love with her. Burilgi noticed that Koghun's fighting spirit began to waver at this time. To Burilgi, it seems that his brother was growing weak. He confronted Koghun in concern asking where does he run off to. Koghun trusting Burilgi, He told Burilgi about Aisuru and her village and he may have found his mate. Burilgi warns Koghun to stay away from her. That if he kept visiting her, he will become weak and cowardly like them but Koghun disagrees with Burilgi, then began to argue ferociously which lead to them fighting. Koghun defeated Burilgi in hand-to-hand combat and told him that he's leaving the warband.

Three days later Koghun goes to visit Aisuru at night, They talk about her father, his death and Aisuru's dream to leave to travel the lands. She was preparing to leave but won't unless he was at her side. Koghun and Aisuru confess their love to each other and he would go with Aisuru. Shortly after, they spotted a luminous glow in the background where Aisuru's village should be. The glow of flames, Aisuru's village was being attacked by Burilgi and his warband. Koghun and Aisuru made haste to stop the attack but were overwhelmed and captured. Koghun was pinned down to the floor Burilgi's men, across from Aisuru, unable to break free.

:Burilgi: "Koghun, You have allowed yourself to become weak by this Raen! I will not tolerate weakness but I will not kill YOU brother. No, For the source of your weakness lies across from you. You'll understand one day that this was for the best. Koghun, for you to become strong again, I will free you from this weakling!"

Aisuru said her farewells as Koghun watched helplessly and in disbelief on what's happening. Reality sank in when Burilgi beheaded her with his ax a few feet from where Koghun laid pinned down. Filled with sorrow and bloodthirsty vengeance, Koghun broke free, punching wildly at those who attempted to grab hold of him. He manage to get a hold of his lance, killing a few members of the war-band. Burilgi yelled out the order to stop and allow Koghun through. Burilgi axe readied, urging on Koghun. They fought with such ferocity, it startled the other war-band members. At the end of this savage confrontation, Koghun thrust his lance through Burilgi's abdomen, Burilgi fell to his knees as blood gushed out from his wound. " Cur..Curse you Koghun!! I hope you suffer till your dying breath and beyond!!" Burilgi shouted out, Koghun slit Burilgi's throat and violently plunged his lance into his chest, piercing heart and pinning him flat on the ground. It was there he repeatedly stab into him in the same spot so violently that Burilgi's lifeless body would lift off the ground. The other members of war-band fled as they witnessed Koghun pierce Burilgi's repeatedly. Koghun slowly stopped his savage attack when Burilgi's men had fled. Koghun, covered in blood, Overcame by overwhelming sadness at sight of his beloved severed head and Burilgi's betrayal. Koghun wept uncontrollably over Aisuru's body as the village burns around him. He took Aisuru's necklace and buried her, covering the grave in flowers. He would also bury his brother in arms with his ax in a different location. With his lance in hand, He would leave the Azim Steppe just as Aisuru and him have promised, never to return.

The Days in Coerthas

At age 19, Koghun travels the lands, grieving over the his beloved Aisuru death, Barachin death and even the killing of Burilgi his trusted comrade. He would end up in the Coerthas Regions. There, he would travel with a group of Au Ri, Barely earning a living working in the mines and blacksmith in Whitebrim being treated unfairly by some of the residents of Whitebrim. They welcomed him into the group but Koghun, still grieving, kept to himself. He learned about the Orthodox Church, The Temple Knights, The Inquisition, and The Dragonsong War. He stood with them for a few months and Koghun began to open up with some in the group and some of the miners he worked him. He made friends but still kept a distant, Unfortunately this moment of peace living will come to an end. One day during a ice storm, Koghun was returning from the mines with a few Ishgardian miners, they were attacked by a roaming Aevis. It devoured all the other miners until only Koghun was left standing. He ran fast as he could but could not outrun the beast. The Aevis fell from the sky and slammed into the ground before him. Mere seconds from death, the beast as struck by a ball of purple energy, stunning the creature. Koghun took this opportunity and ran from the Aevis. In the white out of the storm, Koghun witnessed a dark figure emerged. A man holstering a Greatsword on his shoulder, clad in black armor walked towards the Aveis. Koghun turned around and witnessed the mysterious warrior fighting off the Aevis as Koghun ran to safety. Koghun returned to the group of Au ri and told them of what happened. A Few Days later, an Inquisitorial squad came to Whitebrim, In search of Koghun. Their search would them to a Au ri camp just in the outskirts of Whitebrim where Koghun just arrived from hunting. A temple knight addressed the entire camp that they has been charged with the Involvement in the Dark Arts and conspiring with heretics and was sentenced yo death. The group of knights un-sheathed their weapons and attacked the camp. Koghun rushed into the camp, spear in hand as he tries to fight off the knights but to no avail. Shouting out "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS, THEY DONE NOTHING, PLEASE STOP!!" But his question will fall on deaf ears. A mist of all the violence he witnessed the death of some of his friends and thoise kind to him. Unable to do anything about it, just like with Aisuru. The mere memory of it was enough to ignite Koghun in hellish fiery as he fights for his life, taking the lives of three temple knights in the chaos with his lance. Witnessing this Xeala fury Grebix Brausin, The young captain of the squad, Noblemen and a skill Paladin within the Church stepped down from his horse and approached Koghun. He unsheathed his sword and introduced himself but Koghun charged at him but was no match for the skilled knight. Grebix gloats as he fights Koghun, easily dodging his attacks. Grebix defeats Koghun, leaving him severely beaten and covered in his own blood. Grébix rolled Koghun onto his back, grabbed and lifted him by Aisuru necklace and began to gloat. Telling him how inferior he was to him and they don't deserve to stay in Coerthas. He then ordered the remaining knights to dispose of him and leaves, giving Koghun a distasteful but disappointed stare. Koghun faced death at the hands of the remaining Temple Knights but was saved again by his unknown savior. The same man that fought off the Aevis, Using the same attacks he saw from that day on the knights, A Dark Knight named Sebastian.

Sebastian easily defeats the knights and get Koghun to safety. he then mends to Koghun wounds in a abandoned house in Western Coerthas. Once Koghun was well enough to travel, Sebastian offered to take him to the town of Tailfeather but refuses. Koghun wanted justice for the people of his group and revenge on the Inquisitorial Captain who nearly killed him, Grebix Brausin. He asked Sebastian to teach him how to fight like him. Sebastian, seeing the vengeance in his eyes agreed to train him. Within a year Sebastian would train Koghun in using a greatsword and teach him of the ways of Dark Knights, Using his rage to harness power from the Darkside and use its power. Koghun will quickly realized that Sebastian was a very eccentric middle aged Elezen. If they weren't training, they often will be in the a dinky tavern in Tailfeather. Koghun would sit there keeping to himself and watched his "mentor" get drunk and flirt with every woman that would walk in. This always resulted in Sebastian passing out in the tavern or just outside. At times Koghun couldn't believe that this drunk old man was the same man who fought off the Aevis or kill those temple knights. Sebastian would later tell Koghun about his experience and his convictions, to protect the people from those who abuse their authority, From the Orthodox Church. To bring justice to those who think themselves beyond its reach. He also warns Koghun of the dangers that all Dark Knights face, about the war they fight within themselves as they carry on through their lifetime. One day, while on a supply run to Tailfeather, Koghun asked about Sebastian's past and about the jewel around his neck. Sebastian told him that is was the source of his power, The Dark Knight soul crystal. he tells Koghun

Sebastian "Hmm...well, This crystal houses all the memories of those would had it before me and I see them as if they were mine. With it, I can fight as they did, using their experiences to become stronger, but there is one wielder's memories that I enjoys seeing from time to time." Koghun goes on to ask Koghun "And Whose memories are those?" Sebastian reluctantly replies in a low spirit tone Sebastian "My son....There's only one way to obtain a soul crystal, and that is through death. Vengeance can blind you young Koghun, turning you into something unrecognizable."

At age 20, Koghun has became Sebastian's protégé. Aiding Sebastian in escorting people to the town of Tailfeather away from the Inquisition's unfair trials and sentences and the unfair treatment of Nobles. On one expedition, Sebastian and Koghun were escorting a group of accused heretics to TailFeather where they were ambush By Grebix Brausin and his squadron. They charges the squadron, protecting the refugee's retreat. Sebastian and Koghun place their backs together as they fight off the temple knights. Grebix infuriated, He joins the fight and split them apart. Koghun charged at Grebix with his lance. He remembers how Grebix beaten him nearly to death and it filled him with fear but Koghan was determined to not hold back. Koghan fought with everything he got, Grebix, intimidated by Koghan's attack began to fight seriously, Slowing overwhelming Koghan. He left himself open, hoping that Koghan will take the bait. Koghan, out of desperation, fell for Grebix's trap. Grebix dodged Koghun's attack, breaking Koghun's lance with his sword(The lance that Barachin gave him) and then slicing Koghun's back. Grebix prepared to deliver the final blow, but in the last minute Sebastian jumped in and took the blow. Then Grebix shield bashed Sebastian towards Koghun, pushing them both back. Koghan spotted the point end of his lance and quickly threw it into the Paladin's leg, halting his advancement.

As Sebastian laid there dying, He passes on his soul-crystal to Koghun and with his final breath.

:Mentor Sebastian: "Use it...well my friend."

Koghun grips the soul-crystal in his hand as he was consumed by hate, anger and vengeance. The memories of those lost and been taken from him began to flood his mind. He took Sebastian's great-sword and it engulfed him with dark magic. Grebix removed the lance from his leg and used Clemency to heal the wound. The two faced off once more, Koghun fought with every amount of strength he had, letting rage and anger fuel him. With every swing infused with dark magic, he brought his unrelenting wrath upon Grebix. This dark magic was too much for Grebix and began to waver over Koghun's newfound strength. The Temple Knights watched in terror as Koghun began to overwhelm their Captain. Koghun then cut off the Paladin's right arm and thrust the great sword straight through Grebix's chest. Grebix then said his final words. Words that would haunt Koghun and echo in his mind.

:Grebix: "I pity you, creature. Cursed to live a life, that's far worse than death."

Koghun then rips the great-sword from Grebix body out to the side, slicing his body. The temple knights fled in terror at the sight of it. Koghun then falls to his knees exhausted and in pain. Placing the great-sword in the ground in front of him and resting his head on the Pommel. He has avenged his mentor and the refugees made it to safety but felt only defeat. He then noticed the great-sword and himself covered by a blood red aura. Koghun has become a Dark Knight.

Descent into the Abyss

Mourning the death of all those he lost and failed to protect, he roams The Coerthas Western Highlands alone.

As the months pass the mourning dark knight continues on with his mentor's work, protecting people from power drunk murderers of the Inquisition but the people he protected were distress by his fearsome reputation that Koghun he never got any gratitude from them. Koghun's grief began to weigh heavily as the words of the dying Paladin still haunts his fragile mind. Not just Grebix words, but also of all those he lost in the past. He begins to fall deeper and deeper into despair and regret as he re-lives those horrifying moments of his past in nightmares. He would often fight Mylodons, Yetis and other beasts that he found while wandering in the wilderness. Using them to sharpen his skills as a Dark Knight, But also served another purpose. To find solace from the voices in his head. Rumors reach him that some of the Temple Knights along with the Paladin Captain were killed by a voidsent while pursuing heretics. He heard nothing about him or his mentor assuming that the Inquisition has reported them dead to avoid embarrassment or to hide their failure. One night during a snowstorm, He stumble across footprints in the snow that lead him to a middle aged Elezen man, surrounded by a pack of white wolves. Koghun saved the man from the beasts and lead him back to his town. Outside of his home, The man wanted to show his gratitude and invited Koghun to stay the night but he turns down the kind man's invitation. The man then asks him for his name.

:Koghun: "...Sebastian"

Then man's family comes out, hugging him and giving thanks to Halone for his safe return. The man told them that Sebastian saved him but when he turned around, Sebastian wasn't anywhere in sight. For some reason, Seeing that family having such a tender moment, gave Sebastian hope. Hope that there's good and he must continue what his mentor has taught him and fought for. 2 days later Sebastian returns to the same town and sees a gathering. It was a hanging of heretics, among them was the same man from 2 nights ago and his family. A group of temple knights surround the heretics as the Bishop read the charges, As Sebastian watched from the edge of the crowd. Before the executor can pull the lever, a ball of dark magic ran through the ropes, freeing the prisoners. The crowd and The Temple Knights turned to see Sebastian, sword drawn and ready to fight. The crowd disburse as the fighting begins. Sebastian has gotten stronger since the night of his mentor death and so he easily cut down the Temple Knights foolish enough to engage him, then turned to the Bishop.

:Bishop: "Those who would use Dark Magic don't deserve Halone's divine mercy, so show it none men, Kill this Vile creature in the name of his Holiness!!"

The knights rushed him all at once, But in the end they were no match for Sebastian Even with numbers on their side, Sebastian cut them down one by one. The bishop began to run but Sebastian knocks him down with an Unmend. The bishop Cowardly begged for mercy and to spare his life. He promised him salvation and to absolve him of his sins. This filled Sebastian with such unholy fury, remembering the horrible atrocities he witnessed the Inquisition has done, The killing of innocents and his mentor. With disdain he answered the cowardly bishop

Sebastian "I don't know the meaning... of mercy."

Sebastian impaled the bishop with his sword over and over again, releasing that he had held in over the years. His wrath, his torment, and his anger. When he finally stopped, he noticed the townspeople expression of horror on their faces, They were terrified by the sight of dead knights that surrounded the black armored Xeala. As he begins to walk out of the town, the people run in terror from him. Saying things like :"It's a demon!, Stay away from it!. Hide the children!!, Monster!!, Its gonna kill us all, Someone get the Temple Knights here!!" Hearing their comments reminded him how others perceive Dark Knights to be, but after this, He would disappear into the darkness. Till this day, the people of Ishgard are convince that it was a Void-sent that attacked the town and Sebastian will be referred as "The Void-Sent Knight". Following the events that brought the end of The Dragonsong War, No one has seen him but an high bounty as been placed for his capture. His whereabouts are unknown and It's unclear whether or not he's alive.
