[edit]
Born in Garlemald, she was orphaned as an infant when her mother, Viridia tol Glaucia was murdered by insurgents. The whereabouts of the girl's father were unknown as he had left long before she was born and her mother never spoke of him. She was instead brought up by adoptive parents all her life. Do to her having no memory of who her birth parents were, Bellona cares very little when it comes to knowing about them. Believing it to be a waste of time getting attached to a dead woman she'd never meet and a man who didn't care enough to stick around. As far as she was concerned, her adoptive parents were her real parents.
Raised by Garlean nobility, Bellona lived a rather comfortable life with little troubles.Being the only child of her adoptive parents, she was somewhat spoiled growing up. At a young age, she took a strong interest in the arts (mostly dance). While her parents encouraged her love for the arts, they also encouraged her to take up a few combat skills. While not entirely sure she’d ever enlist in the military to put these skills to use, Bellona has some training in archery and swordsmanship. Despite being raise by parents who were very much for the Empire’s conquering and annexing of foreign territories, Bellona came to question her homeland’s actions. She believed that there were times when the Empire went too far or treated inhabitants of conquered territories too unfairly. Such poor treatment only fed the fire of rebellion in a few angry stubborn souls. At least that’s what she thought of it. She didn’t understand Garlemald’s need for conquest. Didn’t understand the extreme measures the nation often took. Whenever she voiced her thoughts about the Empire’s methods, she was often hushed and demanded to put such thoughts out of mind. And for awhile she heeded these demands…but Bellona knew she would only be content with this for so long. But there wasn’t anything she could do. So, she eventually came to the decision to simply leave. She knew that if she stayed, she’d only grow more and more malcontent with things. Later on, she would admit that it was a rash plan, one born of frustration and anger. But she left home and decided to make for Eorzea, knowing of no other place she could run to. It was never her intention to stay they (neither was it her intention to become involved with it’s troubles) but she did eventually decide to stay. Though she tells herself it is just until she figured out a better alternative. Until then, she has taken up adventuring, needing something to get by while staying in Eorzea. Though she deserted her homeland, she keeps where she’s from to herself. Bellona’s quite aware of tensions between Eorzea and Garlemald and isn’t sure how she would be treated by the Eorzeans if they knew where she came from. Bellona doesn’t hate her home…not exactly. She hates the many atrocities it has committed…but she doesn’t think she could truly hate it. Be ashamed of and disgusted by? Yes. In fact, she still feels some attachment to it. She just wishes things were…different. However, in Eorzea she has also found new friends she has come care about greatly. And thus, struggles with attachment to her homeland and her loyalty to her Eorzean companions.
About 4 fulm 11 in height, she has an average build for a young woman her age. Grey eyed and dark skinned with long raven black hair that falls passed her shoulders. She has jaguar-like rosette marks on her skin. The markings show on her cheeks, across her shoulders, and mid way down her back. The markings can also be faintly seen in her fur but one wouldn't be able to tell unless they were up close or she was in direct light.
Aspects That Stand Out:
Bellona in general is a rather friendly person Even with strangers. However, with people she doesn't know well, she tends to keep to herself. She doesn't like to talk about herself or her past and tends to become standoffish and impatient with those who try to pry. That aside, friends and companions know her to be rather snarky and playful but having a serious side when the situation calls for it. But she's also known to be painfully stubborn and reckless; two traits which have gotten her into trouble more than once.
