Abilities

Adventurer:
  • Daggers
  • Dragoon/ Lancer
  • Black Mage/ Thaumaturge
  • White Mage/ Conjurer
Strengths:
Lyriell is a fighter-type and thus prefers to use weapons instead of magic. Her expertise is the use of two weapons, preferably daggers. However she has also shown to be capable of fighting with two-handed weapons like Axes or Long Swords. She's also a skillful user with the Bow, although her skills in that department might have gotten a little rusty lately. Lyriell isn't really made for the Arts of Magic, however she shows a huge potential at effectively fighting with and controlling Weapons that are enchanted with magic.
Weaknesses:
As stated she is pretty bad if it comes to casting spells or even the use of Alchemy. So bad that in most cases it would actually backfire than do any good.
Crafter:
  • Tailoring
  • Goldsmith
Strengths:
Lyriell is quite proficient in the Sewing department. She knows how to use the Needle and is able to create even more complex clothings. She has also started to delve into goldsmithing, however she's still learning it and thus she's still an amateur at creating jewelry.
Weaknesses:
Even though she love's eating she is probably one of the worst cooks in Eorzea. The only thing she's even worse at is Alchemy. Rumors say that she once tried to brew a potion, which resulted in a small explosion and the hyur girl being covered in black dust. She never tried it again.
Other Skills:
  • Singer
  • Writer
  • Swimmer
Strengths:
Lyriell likes writing a lot and has became an average writer over time. She tends to make entries into her journal on a daily basis, even though she rarely shows these to anyone. Lyriell is an excellent singer, despite never having trained for it. Her voice seems to be changing when she starts singing, almost as if she's a different person. Her voice while singing ranges from a soft tone, to a strong almost aggressive voice to an almost alluring voice that stays in the ears of everyone who listens.

Her swimming skills are above average and she tries to take any chance to go for a swim.

Weaknesses:
Since she tends to be of a shy nature she rarely displays any of her abilities in front of others.

History

Before The Calamity

Lyriell's birthplace is unknown as of now. Someday in 1570 she was found barely alive in front of the Corvus Cinis HQ. The members of Corvus Cinis eventually tended to her and she recovered over the course of a week. Eventually the Note of a man called Therius Ner'ok was found along Lyriell's belongings, aswell as a Dagger that was glowing in a green colour and a distorted picture of an old man. Lyriell had no memories of her past and those Items remained a mystery to her for a while.

The contents of the Note were as follows:

Dear Alothia Starkwood...

You may not know me but I know you very well indeed. I have been told that your Company finished a lot of hard missions in the past with success.

This is why I ask you for your help. The hyur that you found goes by the name "Lyriell Aluria". I found her lost in the forests near Gridania and I tried to help her find her hometown. I believed it to be an easy task, but I was wrong. After the third night we got attacked by soldiers...from what I saw they seemed to be from the Limsa Lominsa army. Im not sure why they wanted to kill us but I think it has something to do with that dagger.

I am not strong enough to do this myself as this mission is way out of my league. That's why Im asking you, Alothia, and Corvus Cinis to bring that girl home and find out more about that dagger.

- Therius Ner'ok

As time passed by Lyriell got to know a few people from Corvus Cinis a little better. She met Alothia, the leader of Corvus Cinis and became friends with her. She also met Tessa Jalloh and Miunih Evans, two strange, yet interesting Miqo'tes so she thought. Eventually she also met a Miqo'te that went by the name Lenneth Yanglea. Over the time she became more and more close to Lenneth and the two of them seemed to share a special bond.

However, as Lyriell was finally getting used to her new life in the Corvus Cinis guild, her past eventually catched up to her, when the man that saved her, Therius Ner'ok, was eventually found dead in a small pond in the forests of Gridania. The following is a small snippet of what happened that day.

Meeting Therius Ner'ok

Sunlight. Sunlight was the first thing she saw when she woke up. The young hyur woman that was known as Lyriell among the Corvus Cinis Members. It was just 2 Weeks ago when she was found severely wounded infront of the Corvus Cinis headquarter.

Thanks to Kelaynu and Alothia she survived and she would be forever thankful for this good deed. However, Alothia's Job, and with that the job of Corvus Cinis wasn't done yet. They wanted to help Lyriell to regain her lost memories as she couldn't remember anything of her past. Furthermore there was a Note among Lyriell's belongings, written by a certain Man called Therius Ner'ok, who asked for the help of Alothia and Corvus Cinis to bring Lyriell back to her hometown. However, Lyriell's past was still hiding somewhere in the dark corners of her mind and thus she still stayed at the Corvus Cinis HQ.

Only one thing seemed to be clear: Soldiers from Limsa Lominsa were searching for Lyriell everywhere and they didn't seem to be looking for a long lost friend.

All these thoughts went through her mind when she dressed up and did her morning routine.

She slowly went down the stairs and to the common room, smiling as she saw that Lenneth had prepared the breakfast already.

"Good Morning...mhm this looks delicious"

She said smiling towards Lenneth and began to eat, but soon they were disturbed by a knock at the Corvus Cinis HQ.

"Huh..? Who might that be?"

She slowly stood up from the couch and moved towards the door. When she opened it she was looking around for a bit, wondering who knocked at the door, but finally as she looked down a bit, she saw a Lalafell standing in front of her.

"Ahh...hello Zeth..what brings you here..?"

She said and smiled at the Lalafell while Lenneth moved towards them, waving at the Lalafell in a greeting manner.

"Well...I made some cookies and I thought I would give some to you and your fellow Corvus Cinis members..."

Lyriell smiled towards the Lalafell once more and nodded slowly.

"This is so nice of you Zeth..thank you..."

But then, all of a sudden, a ring from Lyriell's linkpearl could be heard.

"Huh? Excuse me for a Moment..."

She said and activated the pearl, wondering who called her.

"Hello Lyriell....Souyo here...I think I found him....I found...Therius Ner'ok you should come here quickly..."

Lyriell's eyes began to widen as she listened to him. She just nodded and started taking notes for the location of Souyo.

Zeth and Lenneth looked over to Lyriell, wondering what was happening, as she still didn't seem to believe it.

"H-He found him.....Souyo found...Therius Ner'ok..."

She was barely able to speak, then she slowly looked over to both of them.

"I need to go there...immediately...would you two...please come with me..?"

She asked nervously and it was clear that she was scared of that encounter.

Lenneth and Zeth nodded and both of them smiled a little.

The three of them made their way to a lake near the Tam-Tara Deepcroft. Lyriell was running the last few Miles as curiosity got the better of her.

She saw Souyo infront of the Lake and with a serious look on his face.

"W-Where? Where is he?"

She said while panting a little, trying to catch her breath as she seemed to have overexerted herself a little.

"Follow me..." Souyo just said, his voice seemed calm, yet with a hint of feeling uneasy about the whole situation.

As he and Lyriell moved closer to the Lake, Lenneth and Zeth followed closeby.

Souyo stopped after a while and slowly stepped to the side to reveal the dead body of an unknown man.

"W-What!?"

Lyriell screamed lightly and shivered a little.

"D-Don't...tell me..."

Souyo just nodded once more, he then closed his eyes and sighed a little. "I found a journal with his name on it aswell as some scrolls that were signed by him..."

Lyriell's body began to tremble and she was shaking a little.

"N-No....please...this can't be true..."

She said as fear filled her voice with every word she spoke. She put her hands on her face and tried to hold back the tears, but the situation seemed to be too much for her.

The man that wanted to protect her was dead, and she felt responsible for it.

Lenneth placed her hand on Lyriell's shoulder and tried to comfort her, meanwhile Zeth and Souyo examined the dead body, looking for some clues.

Zeth frowned as he examined the wounds and both he and Souyo soon came to the conclusion that the fatal wound was caused by a small dagger. As he continued examining the body, something else came to his mind aswell. He made some Notes and slowly turned towards Lyriell.

"Lyriell...I hate to say this but....Therius Ner'ok...never wrote the Note that was adressed to Alothia..."

Lyriell looked over to Zeth, her expression mixed with fear and confusion. "W-What...? I don't understand..."

Zeth sighed and looked away for a moment. "You see...this man....Therius Ner'ok....was already dead before the Note was written..."

Lyriell shivered some more, and some tears were running down her cheeks. "W-Why...? Why would someone do that...? If he didn't wrote it...who did..!?"

Zeth sighed again and it seemed he wasn't happy with the things he had to tell her. "That's not all....the wound that killed this man...was caused by a dagger..." Souyo nodded and agreed. "There is no doubt...it looks like it was an assassination"

Lyriell shivered and remained silent, not being able to think clearly. More tears were running down her cheeks, as she knew that she also possesed a dagger when she was found at the Corvus Cinis HQ.

She slowly began staring at her own hands in disbelief, her body still shaking. "D-Did I...? W-Would I...do something...like that...?" she asked in fear and seemed to be close to a mental break down. The world around her started to black out and she felt dizzy, it was too much for her and she started to throw up a little.

Lenneth again tried to calm her down and slowly Lyriell seemed to get back to her senses.

"Please...get me out of here...I just want to be far away...from this place..."

She almost begged and Lenneth, Zeth and Souyo nodded. They bid farewell to Therius Ner'ok and Souyo gave him a proper burial.

Once they returned to Ul'dah Lyriell knelt down a little in front of Zeth, looking into his eyes with a sad expression. "Zeth...a week ago...I asked you to examine that strange dagger...that I carried with me..."

He nodded slowly and kept listening, wondering what she wanted from him.

"Please compare it...with the wounds of that man....and make sure....it wasn't..."

Zeth immediately shook his head, knowing what she was going at. "Don't even think about it....you would never do such a thing...im sure of that!"

Lyriell nodded slowly, trying to smile a little, but she couldn't really smile with all those things that happened lately.

After that Lenneth and Lyriell walked back to the HQ, while Zeth went back to his company as he wanted to uncover the truth about that dagger.

It was already night when Lyriell and Lenneth arrived at the HQ and they both walked into their room.

Lyriell layed down on her bed and buried her face into the pillow. Darkness. Darkness was the last thing she saw when she fell asleep.

But from this point on...it would get even worse...

A Stranger on a Crossroad

"Corvus Cinis....Therius Ner'ok.....the Girl with the golden Hair...", these words were echoing through her mind all the time. "Corvus Cinis...", the Company that took care of the young hyur girl when she was so close to knocking on heavens door. "Therius Ner'ok", the man who supposedly saved her life several times, but was killed by the exact same dagger the young hyur girl was carrying. "The Girl with the golden Hair", a Song that the young hyur Girl, Lyriell, was singing a lot recently, and which brought back all those confusing and dark visions.

A Broken Promise

"Thank you Lenneth....thank you for your help...", Lyriell said softly while glancing over to the Mi'qote that had been there for her the past few weeks, helping her searching for clues about her past.

"Hey Lenneth...you won't leave me right..?", she asked while looking at the Mi'qote once more, with a shy expression on her face.

Lenneth smiled back warmly and nodded slowly. "I promise...I won't leave you until we both know everything about our past...", she said while still looking at Lyriell, with that same warm expression.

....1 Month Later.....

Lyriell was camping outside near Ul'dah in a hidden place. She shivered a little and cried softly, not being able to deal with the recent events that had happened. "You told me...you wouldn't leave me...." she spoke softly while tears were runing down her face. She tried to calm herself down but it was no use. "Why....!?", she cried out softly and burried her face in her hands.

An hour later the hyur girl finally seemed to calm down. However, the bad thoughts still stayed in her mind. "First Therius...now Lenneth......is it..my fault..?", Lyriell thought to herself and sighed a bit. "From now on...I will stay alone...I don't want anyone to get involved with this anymore...I'm going to solve this...on my own...", Lyriell said softly and stood up slowly. She gathered her belongings and continued her journey again.

.....2 Months later......

Meeting Mr. Oni

Somewhere deep within the black shroud....

A wolf pack was staring at the young hyur girl hungrily, showing their sharp teeth and looking at her almost in a greedy manner.

Saliva was running down from their open jaws as they were closing in on her. She shivered a little, but yet she was very calm as the wolves drew nearer.

"I'm not going to be your food...", Lyriell said softly, almost as if she was whispering. She was wielding 2 sharp swords, both pointing towards the wolves in a defensive manner.

Suddenly three of the wolves leaped forward while letting out a murderous howl. Lyriell evaded the attacks with a swift motion and with a few slashes she was able to defeat them.

However the last wolf managed to sneak up on her and she screamed a little as she felt the intense pain of the wolf's teeth grinding into the flesh of her arm.

No matter how much she struggled, the beast wouldn't let go of her arm, but in the end the hyur girl managed to land a finishing blow on the wolf. A loud howl was heard throughout the forest as her sword pierced right through the wolf's skull. The wet and muddy ground was filled with blood now, partly from the dead wolves, but also from Lyriell's wounded arm.

She was getting a bit dizzy, not only from the loss of blood, but also because of the infected saliva of the wolf. She tried to get a hold of herself and layed against a tree.

She didn't even have time to recover as she suddenly felt another sharp pain, but this time coming from her chest. She opened her eyes weakly, looking at the attacker. It was a mercenary, grinning at her, as he pointed his knife, which was covered in her own blood, at her. "I've been following you a lot lately...Miss Aluria...I'm going to get a nice bounty for your head...", he said as he was about to stab her again, attempting to finish his work.

Lyriell just closed her eyes, seemingly accepting her fate, as she suddenly heard a loud scream. The Mercenary was smashed against a nearby tree by some unknown magic. Her eyes were looking around, wondering who rescued her, but her wounds were slowly causing her to pass out.

.....Some days later....

"It seems you're finally awake...that was really close....", an unknown voice spoke to her as she slowly opened her eyes again.

"Who...are you...?", a weak Lyriell asked as she was looking over to the cloaked figure.

"My name...isn't of any importance...but you may call me Mr.Oni..", the cloaked figure answered slowly and looked away from her, almost as if he wanted to hide his face. He was holding a gnarled staff, which looked like it was about to break by the slightest touch, but yet he was holding it firmly in his hands.

"...why did you help me...? You...don't even know me...", Lyriell asked confused, slowly trying to get up.

"I know you very well...Miss Aluria...don't rush yourself...", he said, but instead of his voice showing any sound of concern, he was almost speaking in a monotone voice.

"What...do you know about me...?", the young hyur girl asked and a shiver went down her spine.

"I know..about the massacre that happened near Limsa Lominsa...and I know which fate awaits you....if you don't change it...", the cloaked man said mysteriously while staring into the depth of the forest.

"Why....why should I trust you?", Lyriell asked and gave him a suspicious, yet curious look.

"You can't trust me...you can either accept what I tell you...or you may leave and never learn the truth about yourself...the choice....", the cloaked figure now looked towards her directly "..is yours...."

Lyriell just nodded slowly and listened to his story.

.......4 Months Later.......

Choosing the right way...?

Lyriell was wandering through the desert near Ul'dah again, camping at her hidden places, always trying to stay away from human contact.

Although she had adapted to the life of a nomad, she still missed Corvus Cinis, the company that almost was something like a family to her. However, she had decided to leave all of that behind.

After the talk with "Mr.Oni" she wanted to keep them out of her problems even more. There was only the linkpearl left, the last connection to her former "family". She stared at it for a while, thinking about all the people she had met, and all those she didn't get to know better, even though she wanted to.

"I've made up my mind...", Lyriell whispered to herself slowly and attempted to throw the pearl away, when suddenly a ringing sound came from the linkpearl.

She widened her eyes a little as she heard Kass's voice, shouting for help.

Something was wrong with Miunih Evans and Lyriell decided to come to help with her well being. It was the last time she would do this until she dissappeared once more for quite some time. She had to find a certain someone. A person who knew more about her past.

The Truth in reach

She eventually tracked said person down. A hyur highlander that went by the name Ferluzin Garlesh. At the peak of the war between the Eorzean Alliance and the Garlean Empire the hyur girl eventually duelled him on the battlefield. It was a fierce battle with none of them gaining the upper hand towards the very end. Lyriell's daggers were clashing against his Claymore time and time again. Barely able to dodge his attack the hyur finally managed to land a counter attack, ramming her left dagger into his shoulder with a swift movement. The highlander stumbled backwards and with another strong attack Lyriell managed to send him flying to the ground. She held one of her daggers and pointed it towards his throat. "Tell me....Tell me what you know!", she screamed at him, her eyes filled with anger and determination. The highlander started laughing while coughing up some blood. "I will..tell you one thing little girl....the rumors...about your role...in the slaugthering that took place near Limsa Lominsa...those rumors..are all true...", he said and grinned at her. "That's....a lie...!", the girl screamed and shivered a little. "Are you sure about that..?", the man said and kept grinning at her. "You little shit...I want to know everything!", she screamed once more and her dagger was lightly piercing his neck now, causing some triplets of blood running down the blade. "Hehe...it seems you're out of luck....", the man said as he looked to the sky. Bahamut had appeared and started wreaking havoc on the battlefield. At this point Lyriell was almost sure her life would end any second. "Why..does it have to end like this..? Am I not allowed..to know the truth..about my past..?", she whispered to herself and a few tears ran down her cheeks.

Post Calamity

Lyriell's time travelling experience was quite violent and left her body in a shocked state for 3 days when she returned to the realm of Eorzea. After 3 days she eventually opened her eyes and found herself deep inside the forests of Gridania. "water....", was her first thought as she awoke, her body almost drained of fluids. She tried to stand up but staggered forward weakly. Luckily it was starting to rain, and thus she used a few leaves to catch the raindrops. She drank the water greedily and began walking through the forest. It seemed that the whole world around her had changed. Everything seemed different, yet it felt the same. She couldn't really understand what had happened to her. Minutes ago she was on the battlefield and faced death, then suddenly she found herself in this forest. Once again she was searching for clues about her past and for what had happened on the battlefield.
