Cima Fhae [see-ma • f/r/-ay] is a... well, that is... Cima specializes in the procurement and trade of antique oddities... among other things. Simply put: you want it, she can find it. At a price.

Character

Etymology

Cima Fhae - translation: treasure, faith. Fae may also refer to faeries. The 'h' is silent unless pronounced in Miqo'te tongue. Resembles the Roegadyn word "Frae" which prompted the Styr-siblings' pet-name "Fraestyr": free star. Her name may also be associated with fray (the unraveling or wearing of fabric) in regards to the intentions of the Spinner.

Appearance

Height: 4 fulms 8 ilms / Weight: Approx 95 ponz

A slight sprite of a creature with wiry tone, Cima is built small but strong [akin to: Talim]. Her eyes are large, expressive and the colour of rubies, while her hair is a pine green pixie-cut with lengthy bangs. She has a small, up-turned nose and pouting lips usually found in a broad, impish grin. Blue-purple crescent moons accentuate her cheeks and profile as tribute for Menphina's boon. A noticeable scar tapers over her left eye, a result of clumsiness and ill-timing on her part. Her skin, blemished here and there by other noteworthy injuries, is the typical Keeper complexion and as such, burns easily in sunlight. Among the markings are five tattoos: a compass on her left shoulder, the Lover's emblem on her chest, an empty hourglass on her right outer-waist, a shield/sword combination on her left/right forearms, respectively, and a... well, she really doesn't know how it got there but assumes she was drunk. Around her neck dangles a bell-pendant - tinkling like wind-chimes with the subtlest of movements. She carries herself with a casual saunter.

Cima doesn't care much for appearances - rough n' tough tomboy.

Personality

Cima has always had a flare for trouble. Headstrong, scrappy and capricious, she is irreversibly reckless and ruled by her element, Fire. She may as well have been born a Seeker, for her only Keeper-qualities are her doggedness, brooding stare and fondness for night.

Growing up Cima never conducted herself with the token-Fhae composure and was frequently scolded for her daring and rebellious behaviour - a bla-red, very red sheep (great-muma Sia suspected a foul sire; her muma Euna thought her delightfully spunky.) While the loss of her family should've (maybe?) served as an opportunity to self-reflect (and gain some sense of... consideration), it merely strengthened her dangerous, live-fast die-hard resolve ("I could sit on my sorry arse and wail and weep... or I could pass the past and spill some sick blood!"). In Cima's mind, life's a one-way (cliff-hanging) street and if she's going down, she's going to do it kicking and screaming. It's hard to tell with her if she recognizes the frailty of her existence (and compensates), considers herself invincible, or simply has a death wish. Her impulsive nature will likely be the end of her... but she demands to go out with a bang. Heroically, ofcourse. To pay her dues.

Since the misfortune of her childhood, Cima's decided to a take closet-method to religion and worshiping the Twelve. While still faithful, she considers herself sinful and unworthy (essentially of being their spokesperson/fan) and seeks to win back her right to life (Ex. rarely speaking of the Gods in vain despite her foul language, praying silently to herself when she thinks no one's looking, etc). Her spirituality and link to the world is incredibly personal (and sacred) to her - but about as deeply secret (and denied) as her past guilts. (Ex. it'd take a lot to get Cima to own up to her Echo. To own up to it, she'd have to admit the tragedy was her fault, and she can't bring herself to do that. She'd demand a translator if approached by a Moogle and negate any attempts to communicate).

Perhaps her only redeeming qualities are her desire to save, protect and let live. She will fight furiously when it comes to the well-being and freedom of her comrades - hells! even strangers, like or dislike, she's a true nationalist! Cima will fight to the bitter end for anyone with light in their hearts (excluding her prejudices - she really hates those guys, light or not). I suppose having said that, the only real perks of having her bond in friendship is her contagious spark of life (encouraging, whether it takes jabs or hugs to get you going), her eternal loyalty... and her fist in a bar fight.

Cima was born in the Eastern Shroud to the Fhae family - shamans recognized by the forestfolk for their mystery, cunning and eerie intuition. They visited Gridania and hamlets on occasion, offering herbal remedies and fortune-telling (among other things) for various goods and supplies. The group consisted of: Sia the Great-Muma and All-Hearing, Nea the Eldest and Wisest, Vica the Elder Middle and Strongest, Risa the Younger Middle and Keenest, Euna the Youngest and Seer. Sia's daughters had several children each, and Cima was daughter to Euna. All were born under the Earth or Water element - save Cima, who was Fire - and their clan-totem was the Frog.

While Cima lacked the artful tact and serene disposition of her clan-mates, she did possess the Echo. The skill was dismissed as the Fhae's inherent ability to talk to the trees, and so the gift was overlooked. Instead, her kin focused on scolding her for her impulsive, brash and nosy nature (Except Euna - her muma cherished her dearly). Cima just wanted to do right and sought positive recognition.

On a particularly bright, moonlit night, Cima of eight cycles heard whisperings among the wood. Intrigued (and bored), she snuck away from her family's camp and sought the source of the unusual sounds. Whoever it was, they were making crude jokes - and Cima found it painfully funny. Unfortunately she did discover the faces of the voices, and more unfortunately led the voices and their faces back - Ixali.

She was still caught in a daze when the wandering crusader, Fohcs, and his trusted young coeurl, Klyn-Koena, discovered her captive in the Ixali camp. They managed to free her and narrowly escaped - and so began the bombardment of questions, among them being: "Why did they take you?" / "How long were you prisoner?" / "Where is your family?" ... Cima gaped at her rescuer. They took her because they thought it painfully funny that a Miqo'te (of so few cycles!) could understand them. She hadn't been paying attention to the turns of days to nights. And her family...

Fohcs took the girl under his wing.

Abilities

Skills ■ Survivalist - Wild child, born and raised. Crouching Miqo'te, Hidden Hunter. Recognizes the Bare Necessities. ■ Combatant - Spent five years getting trained on a day-to-day basis by Fohcs (also spent five years after just fucking around, so... balanced!). Adept with a knife. Prefers short, light blades such as rapiers. Inherent Miqo'te skill at archery. Packs a punch but is rough around the edges (lacks discipline.) Likes to fight close-quarters, and only fights dirty if she really hates the guy. ■ Ocarinst - Adopted hobby from Fohcs. A tad? obsessive with the instrument's condition, as it is her last memento of him. She is not nearly as good a player as he was and her songs typically take on a sad sound. ■ Magician - Her capacity for using magic is strongest when she seeks to protect... and sometimes destroy! ■ The Echo... - Would be a useful tool, except she sees it as some sort of dangerous curse and refuses to acknowledge it.

Strengths/Weaknesses ■ Attacks with speed and randomness. ■ Dives before looking. ■ Not very stealthy - in fact she is quite clumsy (does not pay attention/her mind races a mile a minute), and pointy-tools are liabilities. ■ Throws her entirety into her attacks in an attempt to overwhelm. ■ Prone to blind-fury. ■ Exhausts herself quickly due to the above. ■ Does not work well in a team - disobedient/cocky.

■ Actually related to Ami Faye of 1.0. Disregard the previous spelling of "Faye" (not that she spelled it out for anyone anyway), and she is the half-Keeper, half-Seeker offspring of Euna. Euna was a cute, dreamy little ditz of a Miqo'te and slept with the wrong lad. Sia was horrified and the halfbreed was left at Gridania's orphanage. While Cima has no recollection of an "Ami" in her family, she does hold a resemblance. Permission to use in role-play, though I doubt anyone will! So more of a fun fact, really. (Cima is Ami, reversed, but with the "Sia" sound to hopefully quell her mother's rage.)
