Character
General
Nicholas is a hyur born from nomadic parents, but claims to be from Gridania simply because he spent a biggest portion of his life there. He has a strong background in healing and medicine, both magical and nonmagical, as well as summoning and thaumaturgy. If he's not found wandering the streets of Ul'dah, he is indeed difficult to find. He is currently working for the Immortal Flames and assisting a mercenary group at the same time.
Recent: He has fled Ul'dah and is missing his right ring finger.
Appearance
Even though he is of mixed blood, Nicholas can pass off as purely a midlander like his father before him. The few things that might identify his mutt status is a very broad, square jaw that bore a respectable, fading beard and a proud nose. His face is not without a few scratches from bar fights and and meaningless tussles. They are across his nose, cheek, and temple. His eyes are also a striking feature, feature ice blue hues and every-wandering with curiosity. His right hand is missing it's ring finger and the little finger has been atrophied from complete loss of muscle; There is a scar slashed into the digit.
His body is toned from years of work and travel, and he can be considered on the taller spectrum of height as far as midlanders go. He wears cloth or leather clothing, depending on where he's going and what sort of protection or impression he'll need to give.
His miqo'te persona is much different. He bears dark skin and an dark, greying fur. His tail is long with a white tip. The features he had as a hyur stay the same, such as his eyes and muscle tone.
Personality
Stubbornness transcends to a whole new level within Nicholas. He's staunch in his beliefs, his work, his methods. He's full of snark to throw whenever someone throws it at him first, and he's not one to let his pride or ego get bruised. He's straightforward and blunt with questions and feelings towards others. Otherwise, he can be a decent man to nearly anyone who grants him respect and the time of day. As a former gambler and a stress-smoker, he has an addictive personality after trying to recover from his heavy gambling days. When he find something he likes, he clings to it; the trick is to finding something or someone he likes.
His peers have noted that he is level-headed in conversation and it is tough to get him angry. His approach is calm and calculated in all scenarios. Listening is also something he has mastered through harnessing patience when dealing with all clients, pleasant and annoying. He does not just try to hear the words, but he deciphers the meaning below them. This typically makes him a fair person in interactions.
Combat
General
He's always hanging back on the battlefield, casting offensive, defensive, and healing spells. He calculates his opponent before charging head-first into a fight. It is difficult to egg him on into a fight, as he is always calm and collective. He chooses his enemies well and does his best to keep them away but monitored all the same. He is an expert in both scholar and summoner magic, but during his stay in Ul'dah, he studied thaumaturgy to hone another flavor of destructive power.

Numerous foster brothers and sisters.
He might have a few illegitimate children through courtesans he met while running his gambling and fighting ring, but they have yet to resurface and he has no idea that they exist.
Friends
Domri Blackblade: A merc he met in an alleyway and got along with. The two have grown together in work and have kindled a friendship between jobs. Nicholas considers him a sensible, worthy boss and he hopes to become a reliable go-to man when running the mercenary company. Nicholas hardly questions Domri's decisions or motives, keeping those to himself in order to keep the money flowing. When Domri asks him to do something, Nicholas goes to every extent he can to fulfill the task.
Enla Kertuh: A blind Keeper of the Moon woman that he's become very fond of, and finds himself reverting to a head-over-heels state no matter how hard he tries to deny it or sweep away the feelings. He's assisting her with her sight and finding new ways to see or sense around without completely restoring it. Recently, he let go of all sense and came to her aid while ignoring the sort of trouble he could get into by returning to Ul'dah.
Rhuya Moui: A friend Nick is debating keeping only at arm's length after a certain revelation. He formally held some feelings for her, but that's melted away. Though their history is intertwined in a rotten way, he is still over protective towards her and is assisting her as best she can, even though he abhors the family she is from. There might have been more there, but that has been long swept aside.
Virella Douront: An Ishagardian astrologian he met through his boss, Domri. To him, she has a quick mind and is mostly pleasant to talk to. He know little about her other than that in his eyes, her and Domri are a pair where one is hardly without the other.
Selti Izalith: A small hyur woman he met in Ul'dah. She also signed up for Domri's merc band. Nicholas views her as a capable person, but much too timid or soft.
Floria Raine: What started off to be foolish flirtation on his end ended up with him offering to instruct her in the ways of medicine and non-magical healing. He dislikes her constant stuttering, but has grown to ignore it mostly.
Enduring Rose: A Hellsguard women who he likes to spend time with. He was an awkward third wheel between her and her partner. Nick likes her pet bird but insists that cats are indeed the superior pet. She is deceased now. Despite being a friend, his mourning period was very quick.
Javert Delacroix: Duskwight Elezen that he also stumbled on when he met Rose and decided to be the third wheel. Nicholas considers him a shady fellow. The doctor does not ask any personal questions and merely keeps conversations as shallow and impersonal as possible.
Adraeyn Ashe: a miqo'te Seeker of the Sun that he considers himself friends with, but he's most rude towards her. The two exchange friendly banter often.
Enemies
None so far.

History/Timeline
Nicholas Graveshire is a mixed clan hyur in his late thirties who was born to a nomadic highlander mother and a scholarly midlander father. By nationality, he is Sharlayan, being born shortly before his parents left the area and fled south. His travels never came to a halt until he was past the threshold of adolescence. His nation of origin and pedigree are not something he will discuss colloquially; rather, most will need to pry the information from him. He passes himself off as a midlander.
At fourteen years old, Nicholas watched his parents die in an ambush orchestrated by a clan of Keepers of the Moon, but this was not before his father taught him the tricks and spells that both scholars and summoners utilize and passed down the want to pursue knowledge. He and his sister, Lillian, scooped up what they could of their sire's beloved research and fled. Woodwailers intercepted the fleeing twins and the miqo'te following in pursuit. After the conflict had been somewhat resolved, the pair were separated.
Nicholas was taken into foster care in Gridania, while his sister was transported to Ul'dah, the only place they knew to send a highlander look-alike. His caregivers' dislike for more offensive magic led them to give the teenager an ultimatum: conjury or no magic at all. He refused, insisting that the elementals were too fickle and true power could only be drawn from within. He turned to practical, non-magical medicine and engrossed himself. There was a well-loved doctor in the area that he turned to apprentice for. He turned to bandages and medical tools instead of spellcasting, and alchemy and botany provided the remedies he needed. He reflects fondly on his time in the city-state and he often offers loving and understanding comments about his foster family for those who ask. However, none of that could have stopped wanderlust from overcoming him and boaxing him from the safety of a daily routine.
Nicholas’ lust for travel brought him all over Eorzea, but he eventually stopped in the scorching desert, finding a love for the gem in the sands: Ul’dah. He took advantage of the love of gambling in the city-state and overall region to run an underground gambling and fighting ring while studying in the thaumaturge's guild. The profit was quite lucrative but it was too good to be true. His operation lasted for several years until law enforcement cracked down on gambling. Nicholas was arrested and locked up for a year until the Calamity. At that time afterwards, he managed to bargain with the state, agreeing to work for the Immortal Flames as a doctor that the company and city-state was in need of until his debt was paid off. This opened up new doors as well. His prowess for healing was praised, and he was recruited for missions to put down primal threats, smaller manifestations. Here, he gathered the essences he needed to summon the various egis. Like thaumaturgy, he will only use this knowledge should his enemy be too strong and the conflict cannot be avoided.
Recently, he's broken his service after a Brass Blade attacked his medical practice and lost a finger in the altercation that came from it. He fled to Coerthas and used the time to assist the call-to-arms Ishgard had sent out to the Eorzean Alliance. He only just became acquanited with the biting cold when he hurried back to Thanalan to assist his romantic partner without a second thought. Not realizing he was a deserter, and the Immortal Flames might want their doctor back, he resorted to stealth and allies to transport him out of the desert. With the help of Domri Blackblade, his boss, and a few others, he managed to escape and find sanctuary in La Noscea, where he had now glamoured as a Keeper of the Moon in order to move about more freely without any suspicious questions being raised.
