Appearance & Personality

He's tall for a Seeker, standing approximately 5'8 in height with a fairly athletic build. There are signs he might have once been tan but that has faded with a long stay in Ishgard resulting in him losing most of it. His hair is a dark blue purple, almost to the shade of black, with streaks of teal along the bangs and shadowing underneath. This blends well with his left eye which is of a similar teal color. His right eye however has lost all pigment in the iris, resulting in a white iris. Other markings of note would be the two slashes of teal upon each cheek and some shadowing around the eyes.

As far as personality goes, most of the time he is an unfocused, lazy smart aleck that enjoys laying around and sleeping or drinking rum far too much. This changes when something riles him up, although getting him angry is not the only way to bring about this focus, feeling responsible or as if that is the only will bring this about as well. However he still tries to act as if he is a young, carefree wastrel and ignore responsibility as much as he can. A general lack of maturity whether from not growing up, or not having a need to is yet to be known.

Story Arcs

Arc 0 - Background Summary

He was born to a pair of Seekers that had moved to the Twelveswoods in the hopes of bountiful food, however this was not to be as they both had fallen badly ill after Vahlkrys was born. They were near death when an Duskwight hunter named Artois Brandeaux had come across them. They only asked one thing, save their son and Artois agreed to care for the miqo'te boy, the two parents expired soon after. The first act the Miqo'te child took was to grab both of Artois ears and yank, hard, while the Elezen was cursing the seeker boy began laughing and Artois was forever endeared to his adopted son.

Growing up Vahlkrys showed remarkable potential, and an endless ability to be lazy. This illustrated perfectly when within half an hour he had dismantled a water wheel, but took a week to reassemble it after he had gotten in trouble. Acts like this repeated through out growing up, although he often had troubles with Elezen children due to his knack for completely forgoing, or forgetting tact. This resulted in one encounter where he was beat until his right eye ended up bloody and bruised. The healing of the Conjurers restored his vision, however the result of the beating left his iris white, having lost their prior teal coloration.

Eventually he enlisted in God's Quiver which his father was part of as well, neither of them of course were treated too well by the Elezen that primarily resided in Gridania, however both eventually showed their value. His Father was already a commander who had moved on to being one of the trainers by the time Vahlkrys enlisted. It took a few years but he eventually got promoted to Squad Commander. The day this was to go into effect, he was no where to be seen.

He left Gridania behind, and eventually managed his way into Ishgard, working mostly as a house servant for House Fortemps until the Skysteel became a thing and he enlisted with them. He has been a machinist ever since, there was some friction at first when he finally returned to Gridania between him and his father but they did manage to make up and enjoy a couple years of family again before his Father passed on from old age.

Vahlkrys and Alciel met through the Skysteel Manufactory, they didn't talk much until Alciel, then Aiswynd, assisted with an Airship load. They loaded the Airship and all went well until Vahlkrys decided it was a good idea to dig into a flask of rum he carried with him. When he woke up, Aiswynd had managed to land the Airship without destroying it, the cargo, or them, although it was apparent that they had a rough landing all the same. Vahlkrys looked up to Aiswynd, and was one of the first to take a black chocobo to fly with the other Machinists when they heard that Aiswynd had gone off with a small group to take on some Garleans in the Sea of Clouds.
