Basic Information
Appearance
Reginald is shorter than the average Hyuran Midlander, standing only at 160 cm. He has tanned skin, slightly muscular build, and short unkempt hair. His eye color and hair color are both black. He has terrible fashion sense, opting for function over form. His retainer L'sandra often picks his clothes to avoid embarrassment.
Personality
Although rash and hot-headed at an early age, his experiences during his travels and the realities of war had caused his personality to turn completely 180 degrees. The once overly confident disciple of magic had become compassionate, timid, and laid-back. He often avoids conflict and would choose to find a peaceful solution whenever possible, only taking up arms as a last resort. His laid-back and pacifist attitude earned him the nickname 'The Lazy Scholar.'
There are times when his old character would try to resurface (especially when cornered) but more often than not he would make a conscious effort to control his temper, leading to some serious tremors.
History
Sixth Astral Era
At an early age, Reginald - born into a middle-class family in a village near Gridania - was brought up to be a conjurer and learned how to harness the elements. As a youth, he was highly aggressive, rash, stubborn, and impatient much like his father - who was often away due to his occupation as a transporter. He had a penchant for using violence to resolve conflicts rather than diplomacy, apparent through his choice of spells. His fiery temper and reckless attitude, only growing worse as time passed, his mother - a former engineer who, at the behest of her husband, quit her job and focused on raising their son - decided it would be best to send him to Ul'dah to study in the arts of thaumaturgy, even knowing full well the danger it poses. She silently hoped that he will mature by seeing the social ills of the realm with his own eyes and learning through the consequences of his actions.
His arrival in a festive Ul'dah was as eventful as they come. Shortly after he disembarked from the cart that brought him to the city, he saw people being attacked by a rampaging goobbue and promptly assisted in pacifying the creature. A little while later, Yayake of the thaumaturges' guild forced him to read a stack of books that contain the scriptures of the organization before allowing him to enroll. He seemed to have a knack for thaumaturgy and advanced in his lessons at a very quick pace. He took on several missions for the Path of the Twelve along with Henrietta - a coquettish Miqo'te assigned to him as a companion - in order to support himself monetarily. He also assisted the Grand Companies of Eorzea in several tasks until he and his adventuring pary came across the Garlean Empire and their leader, Legatus Darnus. Only he survived the encounter. The experience left a terrible blow to his spirit, one which he has yet to recover from.
Seventh Umbral Era
Afraid of losing anyone close to him again, he laid low from adventuring and sought shelter from the war. Although lacking experience in healing as a conjurer, he still tried to aid the displaced families who were running from the battles taking place in the realm. He saw the negative effects of conflict and it opened his eyes to the pain of others. He resolved to help in rebuilding the land after the war.
