(This is a work in progress. I'd appreciate it if you'd contact me in-game, should you have ideas, questions, or the like!)

A Gladiator with an odd lack of past, and all too good of timing in her appearance so shortly after the Calamity struck Eorzea. Still, despite the suspicious lack of memories, she tries her best to be a representative of all that is good in the world--a feat not so easily fulfilled, given the situation.

Character

General

Liliana is a Midlander Hyur with a rather interesting past...or rather, lack thereof. Having washed ashore the beaches in Limsa Lominsa's domain five years hence, the woman has had a heavy lack of memory pertaining to her life previous her sudden discovery by the traveling merchant, Brendt. The only thing linking her to her past are the two adventurers that seem to know who she is--Kairo Fujima, and Thiji Higuri--as well as an odd signet ring upon her right hand.

Appearance

Liliana is taller than the average female Midlander, standing in at 56.2 ilms, with wheat-blonde hair that can easily be mistaken for grey in different lighting, as well as deep violet eyes and a beauty mark just below the left side of her lower lip. She is curvy but not much so anymore, having lost weight in the five years she'd been trying to piece her life back together in Eorzea. Her toned musculature belie a fighter's build, as she is gifted with the ways of the sword and is much accustomed to heavy lifting. Her skin, however, remains oddly pale, even while lightly tanned by the Lominsan sun--she does not know why her skin refuses to tan, or even burn.

Behavior

At most, Liliana is overly polite and speaks in an odd manner, a mix-up of supreme politeness and salty Lominsan tongue. She greets most people with respect and is usually very attentive to those speaking, unless she is currently engaged in her own thoughts. Once having made friends, she tends to giggle a lot in conversation and is generally a well-liked personality, always offering a quip or anecdote to make others laugh or feel at ease. However, when certain subjects are brought up, such as her sexual orientation or her seemingly one-sided closeness with Kairo, she becomes easily flustered and blushes a bright, rosy red, turning inward on herself as a form of shield to withstand the teases from her friends until she blows like a Bomb.

There are few times when Liliana is gravely serious, and it almost always has to deal with the battlefield. Once on the field, the bubbly, happy personality does a complete 180; from giggly to almost silent as the grave, her only speech being war cries or rousing pep talks to her allies. However, sometimes, she is known to not take a battle seriously, or perhaps too serious, she will begin to boastfully taunt the enemy, no matter or small or big, weak or strong it is.

Combat

General

Liliana moves with both grace and fury alike on the field of battle, able to read enemies' movements to an extent and dodge or block their attacks with precision. Of course, distractions always happen and this is not always the case, as she has more often than not suffered ailments at the hands of hammerbeaks and bugs that are keen to poisoning a foe. Surprisingly, she is also as supportive as she is offensive--when her friends need it, Liliana rushes to their aid with a Cure spell or her needlework, healing small cuts and stitching up much bigger wounds.

Gladiator

When donning the Gladiator's sword and shield, it is almost as if the weapon and defensive device are simply extensions of herself. It is here that she knows mastery, and is most at home. While moving swiftly over the field despite her heavier armor, she is quick to jump in between friend and foe as a means of protection, willing to sacrifice herself for those unable to fight back properly or fast enough.

Conjurer

As a Conjurer, she stays behind the front lines and is quick to administer healing. However, sometimes, her overly worried nature causes her to "over heal" allies, thus drawing the attention of monsters meant for the more front-lining members of a battle party.

Tendencies

Likes

  • The salty sea air of Limsa Lominsa
  • Community
  • Honor and Dignity
  • Assisting Others
  • Friends
  • Being out at sea or in the air -- either way, if she's on a ship of any sort, she enjoys it!

Dislikes

  • Slavers
  • Selfishness
  • Cravens
  • Being stuck for too long in the rain (she only complains when she's dressed in full armor, however.)
  • The dreams and nightmares that plague her about her forgotten past.

Hobbies/Talents

  • Seamstress: Liliana is a talented seamstress, even using her needlework as a form of first aid for others.
  • Swordmaster: Liliana, despite her forgotten past, is no stranger to the sword--even as a weaker Gladiator than most, her feats of strength are rather surprising.
  • Studious: Liliana loves to read, and is fascinated more about Eorzean history more than anything. She has been known to study every word about the Calamity--in hopes that it would shed some light on her past.
  • Medic: While not as strong with the staff as she is with the sword, Liliana knows enough about white magic that she can at least assist her friends in battle, to an extent.
  • "Hidden Talent": This is a talent/ability that will be revealed later on.

Other

  • Liliana will always sit in the same spot in the Quicksand, unless invited over to another table by friends--the table closest to the Levemete, the chair that allows her to look at the wall and lets her watch all those that pass her by. Or, those that jump on her table. Whichever.
  • She is almost constantly pining over, being angry at, or being generally concerned for Kairo's welfare. This stems from the fact that he was the first person to recognize her, and has told her all of what he knows about her past, at least where he was concerned. She doesn't know nor understand why she has some form of deep-seated feelings for him, and she doesn't try to make sense of it. Rather, she just goes along with it, and hopes that all will be meted out in due time.
  • Has been known to dye her various clothes and armor pink and varying shades of red or grey. Whether or not this are simply her favorite colors or whether or not it has something to do with her past, she isn't sure. These colors merely calm her.

Relationships

Family

Liliana is unsure of her family tree, due to the lack of knowledge of her past. However, she has come to know Brendt as family, a fatherly figure of sorts if ever there was one. He's been friendly enough to her, of course, especially with helping her journey to Ul'dah so that she may further train herself as a Gladiator, and she has vowed to somehow, some way, make it up to him.

Friends

As Liliana has journeyed through Eorzea, she has had little time to make friends. As such, those that she does consider her friends are quite close to her heart.

Zeraia Reynard: Zeraia, the shrewd bookkeeper and impressive Arcanist, is Liliana's newest friend. While Zeraia's erstwhile hobbies of seducing young women and men alike usually puts Liliana in a state of flustered embarrassment, the woman is almost motherly to her, and Liliana has agreed to visit Zeraia's book store whenever she has time.

C'ulara Yanto: A Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te, whom Liliana has made her personal mission to help the woman break down her tribe's "harem hierarchy", as respectful of it as she may be regardless. Just...never let Liliana voice her opinion about the situation while she is inebriated, as bad things and tall-order promises seem to be made while the Gladiator is under the influence.

Thiji Higuri: A Dunesfolk Lalafell, and the second of two adventurers that recognize Liliana from what she dubs the 'Mystery of the Forgotten World'. She only ever has personal Linkshell conversations with him lately, as both are too involved with their own personal journeys to ever be able to meet up for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Kairo Fujima: The first of the adventurers that recognized Liliana, he has been the most helpful in regards to trying to get her memory back. Because of helpfulness (but also--while she wouldn't admit it--partially due to his good looks), she has felt herself falling for him...however, she feels that such a childish crush actually goes deeper than simply that.

Enemies

C'mahiin Tia: A bardic Miqo'te who has captured her friend C'ulara's heart, and yet wants to stick to traditions of his clan. Liliana personally sees this as a fool's errand and, try as she might to be respectful towards tribal traditions, she cannot back down with matters of the heart. This has put her at odds with C'mahiin, and both are stubborn people, refusing to back down and almost seeming to refuse to see the other's side of the conflict.

History/Timeline

The Beginning

Five years hence, after the Calamity had ravaged the land of Eorzea, Liliana washed ashore the isles of Limsa Lominsa's domain, just outside of Aleport. Somehow able to move by sheer force of will, she stumbled into the sailor's settlement with torn raiments resembling a Paladin's regalia, though missing her weaponry. Muttering something akin to the lines of "it's all gone..." she succumbed to her injuries and collapsed unconscious upon the docks. Unknown whether she was to live or die, the various citizens of Aleport helped nurse the ailing woman back to health with supplies bought or bartered from the traveling merchant known as Brendt. As payment, he told the people who lived on the settlement that he would make the woman work off what they owed, considering all of his supplies went towards stabilizing her condition.

Once she awoke, relief was quickly replaced by concern, as the woman could barely recount who she was, let alone anything else. Her torn raiments having been shred from her as she lay in her fevered sleep, she was now wearing simple seafarer garments, all but adding to her confusion. In her doddering absent-mindedness about anything nigh her own gender, she was given the temporary name "Stormrider" until she learned about herself during her time with Brendt.

She'd quickly taken a shine to Brendt and vice-versa, having taken a fatherly shine to the man and he, an evasively concerned approach to her. Still, he was thankful to have her about--she was stronger than she looked, and also handy in protecting his wares from the common tavern thug, as it appeared she knew her way around a sword. This simple way of life continued on for five years--Liliana, who'd finally learned her name but little else, helping Brendt out with his wares and he ever thankful for her dutiful handiwork.

During their travels, they saw all of what Eorzea had to offer beyond the bountiful seas of Limsa Lominsa--Liliana would bear witness to the haggard, harsh deserts surrounding Ul'dah, and the forests around Gridania of which many called their home. It was in the latter where she would meet with fellow adventurer Kairo Fujima, yet only briefly--still, in such a short time, he had greeted her as if she were a long lost friend or love, which served to only further confuse the amnesiac. After explaining her predicament, the man tried to explain as best he could the situation; on more than one occasion did he mention the term "Vana'diel", and would attempt to recount their adventurers together as best he could. Serving to only further aggravate and confuse poor Liliana, she would have to bid the man farewell and continue her journeys with Brendt. Still, she did not leave without at least a small parting gift--a personal linkshell, for which the two of them could speak through, and a small fluttering of her heartstrings.

After a rousing trip 'round the world, the two had returned to Limsa Lominsa--erstwhile, Brendt had noticed Liliana becoming more antsy, getting bitten by the wanderlust bug. With a smile, he presented to her two final parting gifts--a set of adventurer's clothes, and a final trip to Ul'dah, where he would then part ways with her, in hopes that she would further her swordplay, and becoming a woman of worthy mention in all tavern tales.

From Astral Sun to Umbral Moon

In her adventuring times 'round Ul'dah, Liliana did not learn much of her past save for being plagued by dreams and nightmares alike, all with faces and names long-forgotten and breath-taking events that spurned the woman from sleep. As such, she was unable to train as well as she'd have liked in the ways of the Gladiator, aimlessly wandering the Sagolii Desert's outskirts in search for the answers to her bottomless questions.

It wasn't until she had a chance encounter with a Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te named C'ulara, who was nursing a hangover in the Quicksand, that she truly decided to take her training seriously. Seeing the woman's fiery disposition on and off the field of battle engaged Liliana to better herself, and she began to copy the brash and boastful spunk when fighting, going so far as to lavish war cries and gaily laughter as she swung her sword and cut through foes. This rather brash streak did not last for long, however--as soon as she was plagued by more intense lengths of dreams, she all but gave up on fighting for a time, finding herself too exhausted to lift her sword.

In exchange for mercenary work, she found herself adept with a needle and thread; for a while, she would trade in the sword and shield for an embroidery circle and spinning wheel, finding the work of a Weaver much more calming and relaxing than the constant adrenalin rush that the battles of a Gladiator could bring.
