Character
General
Chouwa Morrison is an odd woman. An Ala Mhigan born Highlander with a Doman given name, who seems to have forgotten much of her history prior to last year. None the less, her customary smiles and jokes remain, even as hazy memories and recovered aether bring about new problems for the hyur.
Chouwa currently makes her home among her free company, setting down her daggers to take up a vaguely remembered dream of dancing.
Appearance
At only 5 fulms and 6 ilms, Chouwa is rather short for a Highlander. Possessing a lithe build, most of her muscle lies in her arms. Her skin is mixed between dark and fair, the two tones blending into something unique.
Chouwa's face and shoulders are covered in freckles. Her eyes are narrow set and surrounded by dark circles, often appearing half shut. Her irises are gold, word is that she inherited the color from her mother. Chouwa's hair is red, damn near shaved from her head. Chouwa has a scar on her right cheek, running from her lips to her ear.
The highlander's right arm often hangs limp at her side. If Chouwa is wearing a sleeveless shirt, it's easy to see why. A cluster of long scars run from her shoulder down to her elbow. Beneath the scars, black and red ink lines can be seen. They seem to be in the shape of a snake, but the scars obscure most of the lines.
Personality
Always with a sarcastic remark or two, Chouwa has a smile on her face no matter the situation. Be she facing guards, trying to chat up women or setting her blades aflame, smirks and jokes are her company.
However, there are moments when her smile feels forced, her jokes sound a little strained. Chouwa bottles up a lot of her rage and sadness, feeling no one wants to see the life of the party upset.
Chouwa is a great actress, capable of playing almost any role her allies may need.
And if they need not to see her ugly side, so be it.
Combat
General
Chouwa Morrison is more likely to try and talk her way out of a fight, attempting to smooth things over. If push comes to shove, Chouwa relies on her daggers often hidden in her clothing. An observant opponent will notice her favoring her left hand, the movements of her right hand slower if not outright sluggish.
Having recently reconnected with her aether, Chouwa has access to fire aspected magic. The highlander primarily channels her magic through her daggers, coating the blades in fire. Focusing hard enough can allow her to apply the trick to the blades of her allies.

History/Timeline
((Chouwa's history is written as she remembers it, vague and hazy. Her genuine history is available on request.))
The Past
Chouwa's memories of her life before her twenty-third nameday are hazy.
She knows her father was an Ala Mhigan merchant who fled the city with her during King Theodoric's reign of terror. Her mother was a Doman woman who died in childbirth, buried somewhere in the city. The family of two would live in Eastern Thanalan until the Calamity sent father and daughter fleeing for their lives. Seventeen year old Chouwa would be the only one to make it to the safety of Ul'dah's walls.
Chouwa's memories of the next five summers are hazy. She remembers a Sun Seeker took her in to join his motley crew of various races, but the names and the work they did are forgotten. Vague memories of alcohol, pleasure dens and stolen luxury are all Chouwa can recall when she tries to remember.
Somewhere after twenty-two, the sands of Ul'dah give way to the surf of Limsa Lominsa. Chouwa can't remember why she's there, only that a different Sun Seeker asks her for her help in their project. The title of enforcer was granted to her, along with the responsibilities that came with the title. Alcoholism would become a problem the highlander faced, only ending when a drunken fit of depression would result in Chouwa stabbing herself in the arm repeatedly. Refusing to drink alcohol ever again, Chouwa would succumb to withdraw symptoms, unaware her body had grown to depend on alcohol to function. Healing would come in the form of a black mage, who would rip Chouwa's illness from her.
The action would crack the mental block Chouwa had unknowingly put on her aether, allowing her to manipulate it once more. Wanting to know more of her aether and how to better gain control of it would lead her to encountering Armantiel Xavielan, a black mage who seemed quite intrigued with her issue. Chouwa would follow her mentor to a free company that would become The Edifying Coil, a free company dedicated to the slaying and research of voidsent.
The Ambush
Chouwa was never a stranger to taking odd jobs for a quick bit of coin. A request from an old woman would take the twenty-four year old to her home region of Eastern Thanalan. Chouwa was supposed to deliver medical supplies to an Ala Mhigan Resistance cell in The Black Shroud alongside a group of Resistance members and their sympathizers. Shortly after the travelers passed Highbridge, they were ambushed by a force of Garleans. Chouwa herself doesn't remember the ensuing fight, nor the bullet that grazed the back of her head. She does however, remember waking up in Camp Drybone to find almost all of her hair gone and her right arm in a sling.
The Present
Currently, Chouwa is in the process of healing, coming to terms with losing her hair and the damage done to her memory. Further more, she no longer shies away from her heritage, willingly calling herself 'Ala Mhigan'.
Hooks
- Characters involved with Garlemald may have heard of a red-haired Ala Mhigan with gold eyes who escaped an ambush. Likewise, those involved with the Ala Mhigan Resistance may have heard a similar story. While she won't remember the fight, she knows she was there.
- While she's forgotten her life of crime, Chouwa knows quite a bit about the seedier, darker portions of Ul'Dah. Furthermore, the Syndicate's Bane was a well known name among the criminal circles. If your character is involved with Ul'Dahn crime, chances are they may have heard of Carnelian. Calling her Carnelian out in the open however, is a good way to confuse her.
