About
Yi-Li is the ambitious and experienced CBDO of AnHe Steel Works, a family-owned Othardian metal production giant. Yoked to the Garlean imperial army, the company's current focus is the production and assembly of technology that harvests and refines Ceruleum. Having watched it toil at the behest of the Empire from a young age, Yi-Li harbors a deep-seated, muted distaste for her foreign controllers, understanding the Yang family name is ever besmirched for championing Garlemald's ambitions to rule the future with its iron fist.
At 26, weary of being stuck in a rut under the imperial forces' heel, Yi-Li decides to feed upon the irrational desire to cast aside the well-to-do lifestyle. she sets course for a new venture in Eorzea, acting in the name of the Empire under the pretext of conducting in-depth studies for greater potential uses of condensed aether.
Though she seems to acknowledge a basis to the Empire's vision, hers is apparently to restore her family's reputation to former glory, no more, no less. Now placing her family under risk beneath the ever-watchful eye of the Empire, Yi-Li also earns herself the enmity and suspicion of members of her own extended family who have grown comfortable with the perks of being on Garlemald's 'good side', and who would most readily sell her out at the drop of a hat.
Clothing
Yi-Li is most often seen sporting a pixie cut styled back with some sort of pomade. Keen on maintaining a sharp look that commands attention, she favors a smidgen of bright red eyeshadow for the outer corners of her eyelids - a signature look that brings her non-distinctive dark brown irises to life. A warm shade of lip color complements the look.
Her everyday wardrobe consists of smart-casual, at times business-casual whenever the need to buff up arises. In short, Yi-Li is never one who would let herself be seen in a disheveled state.
Voice
Yang Yi-Li's voice carries a heavy foreign accent even though she is perfectly literate in the common Eorzean language. Her voice can be referenced from the voice of Harumi Ikoma as King in the KOF series; her accent from the voice of Gong Li as Hatsumomo in Memoirs of a Geisha.
Yi-Li has character and confidence both, being an overachiever in every sense of the word. Although she deliberately poses herself a tireless nuisance to business opposition, towards kin and kith Yi-Li is loving and generous, regardless of their differences and vices. Always wanting the best for those she loves, she is known to go out on a limb to take dangerous or questionable measures opposed even by those who support her. A 'heart of the party' in the truest sense, she knows of many who rest their hopes on her, and of yet many more who hold her name in contempt, from outside and inside the extended family.
Though talented and good at meeting expectations, Yang Yi-Li is not without her serious faults. As she boasts an overly strong sense of pride, she dislikes, and has almost never, sought help from others, inevitably making her a woman of secrets who is distrusted by a number of her relatives. And though she consciously dislikes the feeling and necessity of playing with fire, she is highly prone to doing so for the sake of greater ends. The stress that comes of taking disreputable risks often takes a toll on her mental integrity, and rather than vent her unspeakable troubles, Yang Yi-Li chooses to find solace in a pinch of shredded tobacco.
Conveniently enough, with her not being the type to go down without a fight, Yi-Li likes to make life just as difficult for the source of her misery, an eye for an eye.
