About
Yi-Li is the worldly and down-to-earth CBDO of AnHe Steel Works, a family-owned Othardian metal production giant. Yoked to the Garlean imperial army, the company's current focus is the production and assembly of technology that harvests and refines Ceruleum. Having watched it toil at the behest of the Empire from a young age, Yi-Li harbors a deep-seated, muted distaste for her foreign controllers knowing the Yang family name is ever besmirched for championing Garlemald's ambitions to rule the future with its iron fist.
At 26, weary of being stuck beneath the imperial forces' heel, she decides to feed a growing irrational desire to cast aside the well-to-do lifestyle. Spurred to action by the recent crushing of the Doman rebellion, Yi-Li pursues with reckless abandon a full breakaway from the goalless way of living, resolving to care little for all the fragile hopes and dreams she treads over on her way there.
Clothing
Yi-Li is most often seen sporting a pixie cut styled back with some sort of pomade. Keen on maintaining a sharp look that commands attention, she favors a smidgen of bright red eyeshadow for the outer corners of her eyelids - a signature look that brings her non-distinctive dark brown irises to life. A warm shade of lip color complements the look.
Her everyday wardrobe consists of smart-casual, at times business-casual whenever the need to buff up arises. In short, Yi-Li is never one who would let herself be seen in a disheveled state.
Voice
Yang Yi-Li's voice carries a heavy foreign accent even though she is perfectly literate in the common Eorzean language. Her voice can be referenced from the voice of Harumi Ikoma as King in the KOF series; her accent from the voice of Gong Li as Hatsumomo in Memoirs of a Geisha.
As an overachiever, Yi-Li has character and confidence both. Towards kin and kith is she loving and generous, regardless of their differences and vices. Wanting the best for those she loves, she is known to go out on a limb to take dangerous or condemnable measures to reach desired ends. A 'heart of the party' in the most faithful sense, she knows of many who rest their hopes on her, and of yet many more who hold her name in contempt, from outside and inside the extended family.
Though talented at setting and meeting high bars, Yang Yi-Li is not without her serious faults. Boasting a needlessly strong sense of pride, she dislikes and has almost never sought outside help, inevitably rendering herself a woman of secrets. A glutton for punishment in every sense of character, she tends to give the impression of someone who deliberately creates dissension among her circles out of enjoyment - when in truth she merely does so in consideration of the common good. The stress that comes of her self-sacrifice often takes a toll on her mental integrity, and rather than vent her unspeakable troubles, Yang Yi-Li chooses to find solace in a pinch of shredded tobacco.
