A tall and robust example of his kind. One might peg him at a glance for a soldier, and it'd be awfully difficult to argue against that. His build is all lean, corded muscle, dredged up from the earth and made out of stone. He might even give some of the larger races a run for their money. Highlander men are rarely prized for their beauty, and while Gerlache certainly won't be winning any awards anytime soon, he's far from hideous, too. His features are blocky and broad, well-suited to his body. A short layer of scraggly stubble wraps from ear to ear, and his hair is often left a mess - though he bathes regularly, it's quite clear his appearance isn't high on his list of priorities.

Highlanders, with their ways so firmly set in combat, are no strangers to scarring. Gerlache has felt the bite of a blade a fair few times, and it shows on what skin is exposed - a number of short scars line his face, chest and forearms, each distinct but similar to one another. His gear can best be described as 'basic', lacking in exceptional armour or incredible weaponry. Rather, the small dagger strapped to his coat seems to be about all he ever has for armaments.

In short, a relatively plain Highlander - strong, but easily passed by.
