Appearance

Her most notable characteristic would be her face: kohl-lined eyes of amethyst, large and expressive, set in snowy, pixie-like features and punctuated with an impish smile. Tapering crescents of blue-purple curve along her cheeks and profile in the resemblance of moons, a tribute to the Lover and mark of her heritage. Of the body she is petite and wispy: with slender legs, a short, slim torso and lean arms. Small on the Miqo'te scale, Luna's sprite-like build is that of a flyer, not a fighter. Despite being generally pretty, her size and slimness frequently leads to confusion over age and gender (looks anywhere between fourteen to eighteen cycles). Recently however the mark of womanhood has began to show on her, atleast clearing up the latter of the two (the 'enhancement' potions were a big help).
Her hair, often braided but never symmetrically, has an uneven fringe (cut by herself?) and cascades untidily to her waist in silver waves. She rarely wears items of value anymore (or any indication of wealth for that matter), instead adorning herself with odd baubles, cheap jewelry and a multitude of blossoms. Luna's ears and tail are nothing of extraordinary note, though they are of the Keeper's size and length and shimmer when caught in moonlight. Also, when the environment permits, she does not wear shoes.
In passing she appears commonplace, save her moonlit countenance, mischievous expression and the ever-present scent of heliotrope (smells like sugar). Her voice is sweet and squeaky - the kind you want to partake in a gigglefit with - and an outright betrayal to her Lominsan origins. (Voice: Much like TankGirl if she was Scottish...)

Personality

Biography

The Fay family had been living in Limsa Lominsa for nearly two generations. Originally a forest-tribe from the Twelveswood, the Fay had practiced traditional Miqo'te medicine for age upon age. They were not a waring clan, rather they sought knowledge in the pharmaceutical benefits of plant-life for the preservation of life. Among their kind they were regarded as shamans and medicine-men with a strong affinity for nature (though frowned upon for their mostly vegan diets). With the Ala Mhigan invasion and the beginning of the Autumn War, the tribe grudgingly fled their forest-home for security in the sea-city. Already skilled carpenters, the Fay-men were fortunate enough to find immediate work with the felling and crafting of timber for ships - which in turn provided the Fay-maidens with funds to establish an apothecary shop (currently known as Megalixir). The family business accumulated gil quickly, supplying vessels bound to Gridania with remedies for the War's hurts. In later cycles, after the Alliance prevailed over Ala Mhigo, the Fay began to take to the Rhotano Sea with a ship made by their own. They returned with exotic materials: ingredients for crafting, potion-making, plant cuttings for propagation... all together impressive items that increased their sales tenfold.
So it was no wonder, in 1559, that Luna found herself born into a well-to-do, extensive family. She was the youngest of five (and brothers no less), always the last for good pick but first for picking on. Growing up there were constant expectations of her and all involved her being "proper." She idolized the males in her family: desiring adventure at sea, treasure untold and glory in battle. Instead of learning language and arithmetic, Luna envisioned dragons, dungeons, damsels in distress... her mind wandered far, rarely touching reality.
As she came upon her teenage years (and especially about the time of the Garlean War) a rebel awoke within the dreamer. She stole away into the night, forgo her studies, took sword with soldiers, interrogated drunken adventurers, and stole unusual oddities for "study" (from the same drunken adventurers). But it was the partying that most concerned her parents. Hoping to dissuade their daughter from her unfitting interests and to promote "thought and reason," Luna was enrolled into the Arcanist's Guild at sixteen cycles (which proved to be a trial for her poor concentration and absent mind).
By eighteen she was an accomplished - albeit ditsy - Scholar, and back into the same rut she had known her whole life. Lusting for excitement, Luna fabricated a fib for her family: she was leaving the city for a cycle to study at the Conjurer's Guild - while in actuality she'd be going where she damn well liked. At the airship dock she refunded her ticket to Gridania for a ship ride to Ul'dah and happily never looked back. Upon her arrival to the city in the sands, Luna proclaimed herself an adventurer and has since taken to chasing fairytales.

Present

Notable events since.

Before reaching Ul'dah Luna received a rude awakening: do not flaunt your wealth. She had dressed well for her departure, and her parents had given her enough gil to jingle in her pockets. She was robbed of all she carried, finally arriving to the city worse for wear than most of the streetrats - atleast they knew how to survive in such circumstances.
Her stubbornness finally relented and she wrote home, explaining that she had been waylaid in Ul'dah and if they could "Please send some gil fer a couple stays in an inn-bed." When the money was received, Luna made herself quite at home in her Quicksand room; there were cushions, maps, numerous pieces of parchments she had torn out of library books, and in the centre sat her, pipe in hand. As the night waned and a comfortable dimness took her, Luna fell asleep amongst the flammables with a flame burning bright. Needless to say, Luna is banned from the inn and had a substantial bill to pay (she wrote home again saying she had been practicing her fire magic - like the studious girl she is - when all went awry, and if they could "Please send some gil fer my toasted inn-bed.") She also lost her pipe. It was a bad day for Luna.
With a tight wallet but need for transport, Luna managed to discretely sneak into the chocobo-keep and spook all the steeds into a stampede. Amongst the mayhem in Ul'dah's streets, she managed to comandeer herself a pretty little thing which has since grown very fond of her. She hopes her role in the mischief remains unknown (as she started the turmoil almost instantenously with her arrival) but just to be safe she lifts her hood in passing.

Footnotes

The Megalixir has a recorded inventory of the following: herbs, roots, plants, oils, spices, tonics, salves, remedies, natural medicine, cosmetics, perfumes, aphrodisiacs, love potions and 'enhancement' potions (be it appearance, strength, mind). They also carry poisons and recreational drugs (hallucinogens, stimulants and downers) - all under the table, of course. Luna knows how to make most of these things, given the correct ingredients. She is not willing to exchange recipes - she's convinced she can mix better than you anyway.
