Character
Luna Fay /ˈluːnə ˈfeɪ/ is a bubbly botanist hailing from Limsa Lominsa. Born into a family of herbalist-healers, Luna could speak plant before she could speak... speak. But sampling weeds in La Noscean fields was not enough to sate her fancies of fantasy (dragons, damsels, danger...), and she dreamed of forests as tall as the sky with all manner of flora and fauna (and secrets) to be found. And so, she left, now traveling the lands as a lonely "merchant" known for asking too many questions and picking a pocket or two.
Eyes | Hair | Skin | Body Type | Voice |
Amethyst-purple. | Straight and snow-white; falls to her mid-back. | Pale. | Small, thin. | Sweet yet joyful. |
Bearing | Notable Features | Alignment | Element | Nameday |
Elegant, nimble. | Crescent-moon markings on cheeks. | Chaotic Good. | Wind. | 20th Sun of the Second Umbral Moon, 1560. |
Her most notable characteristic would be her face: kohl-lined eyes of amethyst, large and expressive, set in snowy, pixie-like features and punctuated with a radiant smile. Tapering crescents of blue-purple curve along her cheeks and profile in the resemblance of moons, a tribute to the Lover and mark of her heritage. Of the body she is petite and wispy: with slender legs, soft-shaped hips, a slim torso and lean arms. Small on the Miqo'te scale, Luna's sprite-like build is that of a flyer, not a fighter. Despite being generally cute, her size, slimness and youthful countenance frequently leads to confusion over age and gender (looks anywhere between fourteen to eighteen years old, though curves are beginning to show).
Her hair, often braided but never symmetrically, has an uneven fringe (cut by herself?) and cascades untidily to her waist in silver waves. Her inclinations towards fashion (feminine, frilly clothes that are form-fitting) have had to be repressed lately as she adjusts from rich kid to poor explorer. She rarely wears items of value anymore [or any indication of wealth for that matter], instead adorning herself with odd baubles, cheap jewelry and a multitude of blossoms (dirt and bruises are also common “accessories.”) Luna's ears and tail are nothing of extraordinary note, though they are of the Keeper's size and length and shimmer when caught in moonlight. Though her scent can vary from milkroot to maple, she does try and retain a characteristic smell of sugar (thanks to her perfume, heliotrope). During the day her voice is quiet and serene, gaining a notable cheerfulness, even squeak, in the evening-time.
Also, when the environment permits, she does not wear shoes. Unaccustomed to being on her feet so much, Luna finds they are becoming calloused and blistered.

Whimsical, compassionate, upbeat and predictably unpredictable, Luna seeks to expand her world by engaging it, hands on, in hopes that a purpose will be revealed to her. Despite being a maverick who does what she wants, when she wants, Luna has a very difficult time bypassing the Fay within her; naturally approaching or answering others with a cool, but sincere, kindness. Used to a family-setting where everyone knows everyone, Luna's method of speech can seem nonsensical to some; she avoids speaking what's truly on her mind, likely because her mind is not wholly there. Caught in her dream world, the surest way to get Luna's full attention is to dose her with danger, mischief or excitement.
Often a source of comedy due to her eccentricities, Luna's neutral mood is playful, inquisitive and happy-go-lucky. Depending on the situation or time of day, she may display bashfulness quickly covered with humour (everyone carries their insecurities), dull dreaminess, or signature Keeper hardheadedness. She rarely broods, unless on the subject of her family, and reacts poorly to angry males - either shying away or yelling louder (sometimes makeshift projectiles are used.) Telling her what to do is a no-no, as she's currently in her rebellious years and resents anyone who attempts to assert any authority over her. She is very intrigued by other cultures and traditions, specifically Miqo'te, but tends to be bored by Hyurs - unless they exhibit nonconformist behaviour themselves.
On the subject of love, Luna's tendency to poke-fun and desire to have fun can have her come across as a flirt. Curious to the idea of romance but not totally sold, she is more of a crushing school-girl than a serious partner. Every girl likes to feel pretty, but Luna would ultimately prefer more friends than mates at day's end.
Luna has kleptomania, which can damage friendships before they begin. It is not necessity that drives her to take, rather an interest in the make, craft and origin of the item in question (she likes to study them.) If possible, she will return said object after it has been thoroughly examined.
Dirt and filth as well as bugs do not faze her, for growing up in her family's shop has desensitized her. What she does fear, and not understand, is blood, gore and pain.
Occupation, skills and pastimes
Creative and imaginative, Luna loves art nearly as much as she loves nature. She is a flower child by occupation, but her cherished past-times are sketching and wood-crafting. Anything involving her hands involves Luna. If she can touch it, she knows it and bonds with it. If it carries emotion or life, she inherently loves it.
Her other skills are a result of her up-bringing (talent is debatable though) and include: cooking, cleaning, language, singing and dancing. Girly stuff.

Relationships
Family
Luna is the youngest of five boys. On her mother's side she has 7 aunts and 2 uncles, and on her father's 6 aunts and 4 uncles - not to mention the spouses/mates of each. She has a multitude of cousins, and a mingling of Seeker-blood through her mother's kin. Due to the extent of her relations, only family members of special regard to Luna will be marked here.
Yona Fay (Mother, Alive.) - Though loving and maternal, Yona has estranged her only daughter by forcing Luna into her own sense of "duty." The two have failed to see eye to eye for years, and will likely continue to alienate one another in the years to come.
Ari'to Jinn (Father, Deceased.) - Much more accepting of his daughter's unconventional (by Fay standards) behaviour, Ari'to has always encouraged Luna to chase her dreams. He fought and died in the Battle of Carteneau.
Amo'sae Jinn (Uncle, Miraculously Alive.) - Every family has its eccentric. A Gridanian tanner who has taken up scouring the Shroud for abandoned Garlean technology, Amo'sae moonlights as an inventor. Against her mother's will, Luna spent nearly a year living with her uncle while she studied the forest's unique flora, and decidedly he is her favourite relative. He fought in the Battle of Carteneau under the Gridanian standard and was presumed dead for six years.
Fuschia Fay (Cousin, Deceased.) -
Gerber'a Fay (Brother, Deceased.) -
Chani Fay (Cousin, Alive.) - A Seeker relative two cycles her junior, much of Luna's exuberance can be traced back to this fun-loving sun Miqo'te.
Linkshells and Organisations
Sylph Secrets - An apothecary shop and greenhouse located in ____ solely run by members of the Fay family.

History/Timeline
The Tribe
As far back as memories could reach the Fay had been healers. Specialists of plants and their medicinal values, the tribe had long been geared towards gathering rather than hunting. While they maintained some (but not much, by Miqo’te standards) of their hunting rites and rituals through the post-Ice generations, much of the Fay-culture that developed in the Twelveswood revolved around nature, care-taking and of course, the moon. While unorthodox to the neighbouring Keeper clans (who often stigmatized them in earlier years for their ‘weak’ ‘disgraceful’ behaviour), the Fay were ultimately left to pick and prune as they liked, as they became known throughout the wood for their neutrality and healing of both sides during tribe-wars (much like doctors). For this reason, as well as their easily distinguishable pearly females, speculation turned to rumour that these were messengers of the Moon Goddess herself, Lover of them all. Therefore it was not unusual for an outsider to refer to the Fay as “Moon-hands.”
Despite a sincere desire to help and heal, the Fay, particularly the women, were known for being selective (*cough*snobbish*cough*) when it came to mating. By Miqo’te traditions they were undesirable – they were not huntresses and neglected their race’s value of “strength.” Even so the “suitors” were abundant, as Keeper-families hoped that by mating their offspring to Moon-hands they would receive priority in situations of medical need (which was true.) Fay of either gender could perform several useful duties to clans, acting as guests of religious rites, healers of warriors, mid-wives, etc. The females were tenacious and the males, serene, making them highly attractive in “spirit.” Consequently, they were also quite skilled with the working of wood.

Character Connections
One may know Luna from:
- Her family's business.
- Wandering the Twelveswood. (She could ask you for directions, require assistance with rabid roses, etc…)
- Likewise being stranded in the Twelveswood during the Calamity. (She didn’t quite make it to the Battle… traffic
and fire-balls.) - Hearing of the “Moon-hands.” (Typically just Miqo’te.)
- Growing up in Limsa Lominsa. (Applicable to anyone, really. Luna would get bored enough to talk to a post.)
- Saving her when she fell into a river and nearly drowned. (And then they could be friends!)
- Being victim of her sticky fingers. (… She could give it back?)
- Purchasing her herbal (or other...~) wares.
- Taking pity on a green adventurer.
- Requiring her healing aid. (As she passes by.)
- Recognizing and wishing to develop her natural talent in conjury. (Doesn’t have to happen, but then she could be less useless in battle!)
- Wishing to train her under any of the Disciples, really. (War/Magic.)
Trivia & Miscellaneous
Her signature is a cursive crescent moon, star and wings, all run as one.
Luna has kleptomania.
Time of day affects her mood and bearing. During the day she is (usually) more dull, slow and clumsy. At night it's like Luna's on meth. (Not always this drastic!)
Her connection to nature may be attributed to a latent power in conjury. I do primarily play a healer OCly.
