♦ History

As Reinar Paciscor, the son of a wealthy family born in a Garlean conquered territory, Reinard was expected to follow through with his family's wishes (Most specifically, his father's) to take up on their trading business and carry it through the next generation. To encourage it, Reinard was often taken in business trips and even sent along shipping convoys as they traveled their routes, in order to arm him with the knowledge necessary. These travels also served to show him the world beyond his place of birth, leading to Reinard develop interests of his own: In a world filled with magic, wonders and mysteries, he wished nothing more than to travel the different continents and seek answers to his many questions. As expected, his family did not indulge in his interests, refusing to support his study of anything not related to the family and their investments.

Fortunately for Reinar, he had others who were willing to support him. Lucan Iel Sidiatoris took a personal interest in the young man's wishes from very first moment they met. Their meeting one of chance, Lucan was conducting business with Reinar's father, which an uninterested Reinar had been witness to. The youth's lack of presence in their repeated meetings, but complete devotion to a book outside of them led to the two exchanging words, and eventually, ideas. Lucan was supportive of Reinar's academic ambitions and even spoke in their favor with the Paciscor family. Reinar's father, bothered by the insistence on the subject, not just from his own son but now also from a stranger, threatened Reinar with the repercussions of his choices. This time however Reinar did not back down and declared his departure from the family's business. His father's response was true to his promises: Reinar was immediately disowned and ejected from his home and his family's graces, midst shouts and curses, threatened if he were to return. Not wishing to leave the young to fend for himself, and perhaps with a dose of interest of his own, Lucan offered to take Reinar into his wing and support his study and research.

For years Reinar attended to a Garlean academy and studied aether, and aetheric equations, eventually becoming apprentice to a wandering scholar from Eorzia whom Lucan had hired. His tutor however also advised him that books and scrolls alone did an academic make. He encouraged his young charge to better use his enthusiasm for academic pursuits and seek out information through out the realms, conduct his own experiments using what he had learned and eventually make records of his own, that he may eventually publish books on his own.

Around the same time, Lucan (now calling himself Lucaniel Clarke) returned to Garlemald, and invited Reinar to travel with him back to Eorzia, where aether in the land was richer and where one could better develop their magic skills. Not just that, but Eorzia was recovering from what they were calling the Calamity, an event that saw the appearance of a great beast who brought chaos and destruction, but also seemingly poisoned the land leading to reports of aetheric corruption spreading. Being the perfect opportunity to expand on his studies, Reniar accepted, departing with Lucaniel to the city-state of Ul'dah.

When Reinar arrived on Ul'dah, at the time a man of twenty five, he did so under his new identity of Reinard Ackerman. He set up a small shop within the city-state where to conduct his research, doubling it as a place of healing; a clinic in other words. There Reinard resided for but a few weeks, treating the injured and the sick, becoming fairly known, specially among Ul'dahn refugees for his 'pay what you can' policy of service. While it did not generate much profit, it certainly brought good will to the city's newest healer. This lasted until an incident between the Brass Blades and a member of Lucaniel's Underworld organization had Reinard and his clinic caught in the crossfire. Against his better judgement Reinard chose his loyalty to Lucan, despite not being officially part of his underworld. Though they were able to escape prosecution and protect Lucaniel's interests, thanks in no small part to Roswyn Valhuri, a Miqo'te business associate of Lucaniel's, the Brass Blades who still suspected Reinard's involvement caused great damage to his clinic and belongings.

After the incident, feeling it was in his best interest to leave the Ul'dah for a while, Reinard planned a trip to Gridania, there to join the Botanist's guild in search of knowledge to further his research. It was on this trip that he ran into a pair of Miqo'te, I'yato Khai and Piri Suzu. The former had been injured during a fight against a Garlean scouting party who ventured too deep into the Black Shroud, and although Reinard no longer possessed a clinic, he was quick to offer his assistance. His aid of I'yato quickly sprung a friendship between him and the two Miqo'te, who upon learning of his academic interests invited him to join their Free Company, Eorzia Unearthed, a group dedicated to research and reclamation of Eorzia's past and present mysteries. After constant invites and after meeting many of the members of this company, including their leader, Corbi Slater, Reinard decided to accept their invitation, partaking in a small 'welcome' celebration in Limsa Lominsa.

♦ Appearance

Reinard is a tall man, with fair skin and complexion, fading brown hair and vibrant blue eyes. His hair is usually kept in a disheveled state, arranged by hand so it will not lay before his eyes of his spectacles. He tends to favor light clothes that do not impair movement, as well as elegant designs. Often seen with a book of some form on his person, and often seen reading said book.

♦ Personality Traits

Usually quiet, Reinard behaves in a calm and collected manner most of the time, and prefers locations and activities that reflect and benefit from such behavior, such as reading. A very logical person who seems to give great thought to every moment and action that he is to take, though he is not unkind or cold because of it. Indeed as a doctor he tends to display a kind and protective demeanor towards his patients, though some believe that is simple bedside manners.

Reinard's behavior 'blooms' during research of expeditions, where he displays a more enthusiastic persona, often striking up conversations related to the current research, and able to go on talking for long periods of time about information, its meaning, his theories and such, a behavior that tends to annoy those who do not share of his own enthusiasm. The only thing that rivals his interest in the pursuit of knowledge, seems to be his interest in women; Often spying the beauties of Ul'dah and those that come to it for trade. If he's not at his clinic, he will likely be found in the Quicksand, keen eyes inspecting members of the fairer sex.

Good Standing Neutral Standing Poor Standing

Lucaniel Clarke – Cousin (Adopted) and benefactor. A man whom Reinard holds respect, and above all, a great degree of loyalty for, and is willing to cover for Lucaniel, despite having no interest in the man's Underworld organization, and at times a measure of distaste for the extreme actions he performs.
Nocturiel Blackthorne – Cousin (Adopted)
I'yato Khai – An energetic Miqo'te whom Reinard met during his first visit to Gridania. Her good nature and contagious enthusiasm sometimes sparks similar feelings inside the usually quiet Reinard.
Piri Suzu – A good natured Miqo'te whose cute appearance and adorable behavior quickly caught Reinard's attention.
Corbi Slater – While officially his Boss, Reinard still knows very little of the man to judge him on a personal level. None the less, through their brief moments of interaction, Corbi has shown to be trustworthy and well centered enough for Reinard to agree to work for him and his Free Company.
