Appearance

Height: Approximately 5'2"

Weight: Around average for her height and age

Hair: A dark almost-black blue, with very faint black highlights. Straight, like silk to the touch, and always kept long.

Eyes: She has a nearly unnoticeable case of odd-eye, with a dark plum left eye and an abyss blue right eye.

Body: Her body is lithe and trim, and her work in archery and hand-to-hand combat has allowed her to store much power in her muscles, though they are not as clearly defined as some.

Skin and markings: Zaeira's skin is a soft blue hue with 6 faint light-blue stripes spread about her face. On both of her shoulders there are three black dots that form small triangles, and on the back of her neck, though it is rarely seen, there is a pale V-shaped scar.

Clothing and Apparel: Prefers to wear comfortable attire that breathes easily and allows her to move unrestricted but will wear fancy jewelry if she can get her hands on any pieces.

Personality

Zaeira is an easy-going individual that is highly prone to wandering off on her own if left unsupervised. Having been born and raised in a traditional Miqo'te tribe-setting Zaeira tends to misunderstand what may be obvious to the every-day adventurer or citizen and usually draws conclusions based on her instincts rather than standard social conduct; even though most would identify her as a simpleton, she is actually quite learned and can enjoy a few (ton of) good books. Though her tribe failed to instill the "normal" social graces within her, it did give Zaeira a passionate loyalty for her allies and friends and a fierce protectiveness of anyone she believes is and was just in their actions, even if it means taking a few hits on their behalf. Due to her will to protect her friends and those of quality Zaeira is very susceptible to betrayal and has more than a few times ended up lost and hurt for having given too much of her loyalty to someone who seemed more caring than they were. Zaeira comes off as open and friendly to pretty much everyone when first met, but she is no fool, and is very secretive about her opinions and plans until the individual has proven they are trustworthy. If these individuals or anyone turn out to be threats, Zaeira will become vicious, cold, and apathetic to them now that they have identified as "lesser beings" through their actions. Having spent a few years working in the more unsavory parts of the underground businesses Zaeira doesn't mind breaking rules that she may normally strongly agree with if it means getting something she wants.

Likes: Reading, learning, training, joking with her friends, the cold, food, exploring, dancing, swimming, "sneaking" items away from people

Dislikes: The heat, being called stupid, yarzans, "fancy-village" rules, when people pull her ears or tail, lectures, being on a ship for more than 1-2 hours, talk-a-lot-know-nothings/fakes (people and objects), those who refuse to stick up for themselves (but could if they tried) when tjey are unhappy

Odd quirks:

  • Stutters when in an excited or riled up mood
  • When feeling annoyed, jittery, or just plain bored Zaeira has the tendency to...bite things

Skills:

  • Basic healing skills (retained from when she was a healer-in-training)
  • Highly skilled in archery, hand-to-hand combat, and hunting/scavenging

  • A knack for book and paper work (though if it is a great amount of work do not be surprised to see tiny bites taken out of a few pages)

Flaws: Not well versed in some aspects of social life and may offend those not used to her seemingly rude comments, gets sea-sick if on a ship for an extended amount of time, a terrible procrastinator if not interested enough in something, a bit of a kleptomaniac (will return stolen items to friends however), overly open and trusting of those she feels are good people, prone to allowing her emotions cloud her judgment, absolutely terrible at any kind of handiwork outside of sewing

Summary of the Past

Her youth

Zaeira was born as the youngest of three into a Keeper of the Moon tribe that lived reclusively in the Twelveswood, following old traditions and living exclusively off the land. It was her mother that tended to all the wounds of the tribe, both emotional and physical, giving Zaeira many opportunities to expand her mind through reading books and learning through the minds and experiences of others. Though it was customary that the youngest daughter of a healer follow in her mother's footsteps, and despite the love she felt for her mother and tribe, Zaeira could never bring herself to fully dedicate her studies towards becoming the next healer, much to the aggravation of her aunt, the leader of the tribe. Zaeira was much too "wild" to live the soft life of a healer, preferring to spend her time out exploring the Twelveswood, learning about the creatures and fauna, hunting, fighting, and living as the warriors of her tribe did.

It was the day after Zaeira's 17th nameday, the day she was meant to take on the title of 'Healer' alongside her mother that the chieftess' patience wore out and Zaeira was forced to choose between the life of a healer, or be turned away for her insolence. It was no difficult decision for the youth. With the blessings of her mother and sisters in her heart Zaeira set out that night into the vast wild that is the Black Shroud, accompanied by three friends of separate families she had made in her earlier years, intent on conquering the world and its beasts together, as adventurers.

Impressment

The small band of companions embraced their new freedom as a newborn would its first gulp of air, open and ready for everything they never knew before. Too unskilled to easily make money and moving to frequently to ever hold down jobs the group mostly survived by stealing and hunting for their food and clothing. Though it was a struggle Zaeira was never deterred by this difficult living condition, equating the difficulty to having taken on the life of an adventurer.

Their wild freedom was cut short however when the group was betrayed by the greediest member, more keen on making gil than exploring with old friends. Forced along with the other two poor souls with her into working under a ruthless midlander, acting as "collectors" and brutes for his gambling rings and fixed fights, Zaeira grew into a cold recluse. Was it not for the sacrifice of a dear friend, Zaeira would have remained dead to the world, too broken to fight. But no, Ihri, the youngling's eldest friend, was too proud to be shackled and forced into harming the weak or stupid, and ended up killed for her insolence. It was the push Zaeira needed to break the chains of the weighed down her friend and herself.

Once free, Zaeira and her final partner agreed to go their separate ways, planning to keep in touch with letters but needing to find their way in the world through their own means. With a renewed vigor the once more free Miqo'te set out to continue her adventures.

Friends:

  • Birhn'a Koftr: A male Keeper of the Moon that set out as a part of Zaeira's group at 14 years of age. After breaking free of their "master" he went his separate way from Zaeira. Last seen at 17 years of age, but still remains in contact with Zaeira through letters.
  • Ilhri Monbec: A female Keeper of the Moon that set out with and acted as the leader of Zaeira's small group, being the oldest and most put together at 24 years of age. Eventually she died at the hands of their "master" because of her insolence, age 27.

Enemies:

  • Xaerhn Wulot: A female Keeper of the Moon that set out at 16 years of age with Zaeira, but eventually betrayed the small group in favor of making some quick gil. Last seen at 19 years of age.
