Characteristics

For being born from a wealthy family he is quite humble, and fully capable of handling things by himself for the most part, as long as he don't bite more than he can chew. Having met people of many races from all corners of the world during banquets and other events during his youth, he don't usually judge people based on their blood nor origin, but the few times he dose it's from personal experience as an Ul'dah guard. He is also quite capable of keeping his head cool, being able to shrug off insults and harsh words tossed at him by frustrated citizens and royalties alike, but if they speak dishonorable about his family name or parents, he wont hesitate protecting his parents honor. In normal cases he is quite of a silent person but if someone begin talking with him he is more than capable on keeping the conversation up from dusk till dawn.

The one who saved Alaire arse more times than one can keep track of, whenever there is too much trouble for him to handle she seem to always be around to save the day. He sometimes got a feeling she is mildly stalking him but find it more than welcome, as he don't mind to be the center of attention at times.

The Story of Alaire Szynskii

The Birth. Show text

Frederick Szynskii was a miner who was considered one of the big winners of the Ul'dah mining industry, who worked his way to wealth using fair honest work, cunning business agreements and plenty of accurate material demand predictions.

With his wealth he invested resources in buying smaller businesses ensure stable income and continuous growth of his company brand, SzynObsi. He was a very social man who believed the only proper way to integrate new businesses into the “family” was with an “honest to god handshake and smile on ones lips”, and that this was the only way to ensure a company’s health. One of his purchases was a small family owned jewelry store called Meure Trinkets, owned by Lira Meure. The business had been going bad, but Frederick knew he could easily turn the ship around with some good marketing and a big familiar brand name to make it stand out form the crowd of shady jewelry dealers in the region.

Lira Meure where refusing to sell her shop, stating its her family pride resting on her shoulders, but Frederick would not give up and let himself getting shooed out so easily. During the heated debate, Frederick saw the flame in Lira's eyes, and deep passion for her family business, partially seeing a piece of himself in her. Lira growing more and more annoyed of Frederick's stubbornness to take a no for an answer, sought to end the argument by giving him what she thought where an impossible request to fulfill “The only reason you would have this store is part of your so called family, Mister Szynskii. Is if you where a party of MY family!”

After a large pause, Frederick smile at the furious young lady. “Then be it. Will you, Lira Meure, be my fiancee?” Lira face turned from being red and angry to blushing and embarrassed, totally caught by surprise by this, thinking such a rich famous man never possibly could consider marrying such a close to peasant no-name. “Together Lira, lets make our fathers and mothers proud, and ensure everyone will know, the heart and quality of the brand SzynMeure!” Lira bursts into tears, willingly accepted Fredericks offer, knowing that if a man of his caliber would change his life works name for her sake, he must truly care about her. They both learned to love each other, and 4months later completed the company merges with a marriage. Alaire was born 3years and 2months later later in the Ul'dah capital.

After unknown days had passed, the situation was deemed to been stable enough for those inside to leave the safety of their shelter. It was obvious the city had taken quite a beating, as windows where shattered, furniture had fallen over, and where the grand red carpets once where was nothing but long dark spots on the stone floor.

Gladiators where guarding the staircases to the lower area of central Ul'dah, and people who walk past them where doing it on their own risk, as their security could not be ensured. Alaire spent the following months mostly at home, as his parents where talking on their link shells to call their subordinates, guards, and other work related things to protect what is left of their business. During this time Mossop filled Alaire in on what exactly what had happened, and what was going on outside, as there was no real reason to fear he would panic now when the worst is over. This all came a bit of a shock to Alaire, as he never imagined things where that bad outside his sheltered little world, and the fact that most of the rest of the world was practically in runs.

As time passed, and the world began to heal its wounds, but Alaire felt bad for those less fortunate than him and desired to do something something for the world for once. He had always been wondering what to do with his life, as he was not fit as a businessman, nor goldsmith.

He knew deep down he could not be under the safety of his parents arms and fortune forever, and that he would have to stretch his wings and leave the nest one day, like a proper man. Fueled by the heroic stories he read throughout his youth about heroes saving the day and desire to contribute to the betterment in the world surrounding him. Alaire approached Mossop for advices, considering he lived without safety net for most his life, thus would know the true answer how to truly help the world and the normal people inhabiting it. Mossop was hesitant towards fueling his masters fire with his tong of reality, but felt a deep respect for what his master wished to accomplish, thus gave in. Alaire learned that even if the world revolve around money, you can't always buy things to peace. A lot of rich folks think donating to a worthy cause will somehow resolve things quickly, but they forget most of the money donated will never see those in needs hands, as the costs for paying all involve eats up quite a large sum of the money. Much like with business, you must get close and personal for the best effect, mere desire to do something is not enough, you have to show those involved you are serious and set in your way, and will not take a “No” for an answer. With a sense of passion burning in his hear, Alaire knew what to do. He rushed down the stairways, and stormed into the Gladiators guild, kindly stated to the mildly confused receptionist that he wanted to join the gladiator guild. First Sword Mylla thinking it was a sort of joke, refused to take Alaire seriously. But as he insisted she decided to play along with this charade, stating being a gladiator is no easy task, and that one must have the strength to live by the sword, and if he accepts he will have to live like like a true warrior, ready to live and die to protect those in need. To her surprise, he accepted it without a slightest bit of hesitation. After a lot of arguments between him and his parents, and many months of hard training, he joined the ranks of the Ul'dah guard force, earning the nickname “Pretty Boy”, for his his distinctive, well combed blonde hair.

During a routine night patrol down the streets of Ul'dah, after hearing a silent cry for help down an alleyway, fearing a life might be at risk, he rushed down it without a second thought, and didn't realize his mistake until he noticed he was surrounded. A large group of thugs who had been hired to leave a message to his family, and sought to do so with a bloodshed.

Outnumbered and cornered, his only option where to fight for his life. The gladiator fought bravely as the sound of clashing metal faintly echoed down the empty streets on this otherwise beautiful night. Things began looking dim for the lone gladiator, as his strength began to wither and he became unable to parry blows. One could say his fate was sealed, but not in the way one come to expect. With a draft of wind blowing through the alleyway, the thugs began falling over one after another like golden saucer domino pieces. Panic broke out among the group as they struggled to figure out who was interfering with this business, as a small figure appeared in the middle of them, and as swiftly as the shadow appeared, it disappeared, continuing taking the lives of the bloodthirsty thugs. Ceasing the opportunity, Alaire grip tightly onto his sword as his life rest inside it, and use the last of his strength to continue keeping pressure on the bandits, cutting them down like rye grass on a harvest night. Like a musical of meat and metal, the song of death played out in choir.

Once the orchestra of eternal sleep finally came to an end and the bandits all lay dead, the shadow that helped him was illuminated by the moonlight, revealing itself to the exhausted gladiator, holding out a hand. With a smile on his sweaty face, Alaire holster his sword, and give her a handshake. Once Alaire lets go, he notice he is holding a blue note with an address and name, and as quick and silent as she came, the lalafell disappears into the shadows.

The lone Alaire limps back to the gladiator guild to report about what have happened, knowing this must been Fate.
