Overview

Amira Mira is a quiet Lalafell who resides in a small cottage tucked away in the Lavender Beds, spending the majority of her time either scribbling away at a novel she's working on, reading one of the many books that litter her house, or sleeping. She suffers from a small form of anemia (albeit unknown to her) that causes her to feel cold no matter where she might be, so her house is warmer than most would expect.

She began writing at the age of seven, to alleviate herself of boredom due to her lack of friends. She started with small stories of things she would see around Vesper Bay turned into fiction, such as merchants coming through the port revealing themselves to be pirates and being chased off by the residents of the area, or the chocobos belonging to the chocobo porter getting loose, only to be rounded up by Amira herself and her brother. As she grew older, her stories turned into original pieces of fiction, and she was noticed after her brother submitted one of her shorter pieces to the Mythril Eye paper without her knowledge. Although it was featured on one of the last pages, it opened the gates for a publisher to reach out to her, and her career branched out with each book.

Amira writes almost all genres under the umbrella of fiction, with a small specialty in fantasy books. Recently she's begun to dabble in children's books, and if you were to look into the deepest drawers of her work desk, you would find small scribbles and doodles in an attempt to illustrate the stories she writes before sending them off to her brother, who would redraw them with much more skill and clarity. Although her regular novels are penned by her birth name, her newer children's stories are penned by the name Sleepy Star, a nickname given to her by her brother that now acts as a collaboration name between the two of them.

Appearance

Amira bust.png

Amira stands at just under 3 fulm tall, with a build common to most dunesfolk lalafell. Her skin is paler than normal due to the lack of sun she sees, which causes the bright white freckles that resemble a small spattering of stars dotted on her face to stand out more than normal, albeit due to their oddity more than anything else. These freckles are accompanied by a small white birthmark under her right eye, matching an identical birthmark under her brother's left eye.

VOICE CLAIM : Tohoku Zunko (sample)

CLOTHING : Due to her low body temperature, Amira bundles up even while in the hottest areas of Thanalan. She is very fond of sweaters and long socks. However, that isn't to say she won't wear lighter clothing, but she keeps a sweater with her at all times in the event she begins to feel colder than normal. She enjoys taking small trips to Ishgard and Gridania for wardrobe updates, as their local garb is more suited to colder temperatures, albeit moreso external than internal. She also wears a small pair of black glasses at all times due to poor eyesight, and very rarely will she be seen without them.

Personality

Patient. Modest. Genuine. Amira isn't one for conflict of any sort; she radiates positivity more often than not, and looks to spread it in her writing. She has a hard time accepting compliments as she believes she can push herself to create something better than she has before, which is what keeps her fueled to keep writing. However, the fuel comes in spurts, as Amira tends to get tired quite often. Because of this, she gives off a dreamy vibe and sometimes passes it along to others - after enough time with her, however, it starts to lose it's effect on others.

It takes near-constant exposure to a negative attitude to bring Amira's mood down, provided it's directed towards her specifically. If an argument were to break out near her, she would work to try and bring it to a peaceful resolution - or, at the very least, attempt to remove the source, even if it meant asking someone to leave the area.

Tastes
LIKES

  • READING : As a novelist, Amira enjoys reading just as much as she enjoys writing. She appreciates all genres, with a bias towards realistic fiction.

  • SLEEPING : Amira gets tired very easily and at random, so nothing makes her happier than a large bed with warm quilts.

  • TRAVELING : Though she doesn't do it often, Amira enjoys small trips to the city-states or, very rarely, Idyllshire.

  • RABBITS : Although slightly biased, Amira has a huge inclination towards small rodents, especially rabbits - this can be seen by how well she takes care of her dwarf rabbit, Lily.

DISLIKES

  • LOUD NOISES : As Amira has always had tendencies to stay inside, unexpected loud noises can cause her slight anxiety. Because of this, she avoids things like fireworks.

  • NEGATIVITY : Anything that can bring down a mood often makes Amira slightly annoyed, although she attempts to hide the annoyance from showing. If negative for too long, however, she'll ask the source of the poor mood to leave.

  • BITTER FOODS : Amira prefers savory and flavorful foods; bitterness can often ruin her appetite.

  • DEEP WATER : While she has no problems with water in general, Amira prefers to stay out of deep waters due to her lack of strength and her height.

Distinctive Features
STRENGTHS

  • CREATIVE : Her most obvious strength, Amira has the ability to come up with unique scenarios at the drop of a hat, which comes in handy given her chosen profession.

  • POSITIVE : Amira has the ability to take a sour situation and bring the mood up if the opportunity is present. She also tends to use her positivity to her advantage here or there, although more often than not it only applies to when she haggles with a merchant in regards to a rare book.

  • MOBILE : While it's not something she'll admit proudly, Amira's small stature seems to help her speed, and she's often able to get from one place to another in a shorter amount of time than someone of a bigger build. This doesn't account for her otherwise poor physical abilities, however, so it's often better to leave these things to someone else.

WEAKNESSES

  • POOR PHYSICAL STRENGTH : As she spent the majority of her life indoors, Amira never took the time to realize that her lack of physical activity would prevent her from doing much of anything that required any physical effort.

  • INCONVENIENT SLEEPINESS : Amira is almost always tired, and it takes quite a few cups of tea to keep her awake while working. Her small home often alternates between smelling of brewing Ishgardian tea or chamomile tea.

  • POOR EYESIGHT : Blind as a bat, Amira requires glasses to see anything more than a few inches from her face. Occasionally she will doubt her appearance during a formal event and keep her glasses off, and instead keep close to whoever might be accompanying her; she would never attend an event alone.

FEARS

  • HEIGHTS : Although not an irrational fear on it's own, Amira has never been high enough to question whether or not she is truly afraid of heights. The thought, however, gives her the jitters. When using a ladder to access the higher shelves of her books, she refuses to look down, and generally grips the ladder for dear life while keeping her eyes shut.

  • ABANDONMENT : Amira doesn't have many connections, outside of her immediate family. She gets attached to others easily because of this, and deeply fears suddenly being abandoned with no reasoning as to why.

TRIVIA

  • FAVORITE FOOD : Heavensegg soup and dhalmel friccassee are Amira's favorite meals; however, anything savory and flavorful is something she'll love.

  • FAVORITE DRINK  : Hot chocolate, hands down. She drinks at least one cup at night.

  • FAVORITE COLOR  : Sky blue, with pale purple following behind for obvious reasons.

  • FAVORITE ANIMAL  : Rabbits of all kinds. She spoils her pet rabbit silly because of this.

Amira is not a fighter by any means, but she is gifted in the form of white and green magicks. Unless specifically asked or an emergency should arise that would require it, she keeps this information to herself as she doesn't feel it's important. While neither of her parents know, both she and her brother Nenetegi took the time to study magicks (in Nenetegi's case, black magicks) only for self protection. Their reasoning for this is a secret kept only between the two of them. The materials they studied from are hidden in the furthest recesses of Amira's collection of books, and not even Nenetegi knows where to find them now.

Vesper Bay
Vesper Bay.png

Born to Nanake Nake and Hihiromu Yeyeromu, Amira lived in Vesper Bay for the entirety of her life up until moving to the Lavender Beds. Her mother worked as a fisherwoman, fishing right off the coast that their home sat atop. Because they were so close to the Strait of Merlthor, Nanake was able to fish using several rods at a time at all hours of the day, and caught nightly fish more frequently than others. After fishing up a haul that met her standards, she and her husband would prep the fish for travel; Hihiromu would travel between Limsa Lominsa and Vesper Bay to sell the catch to fishmongers who would pay well for the rarities. Their son, Nenetegi Tototegi would often accompany Hihiromu as Nanake's standards were high, and the amount of fish being shipped off was more than one lalafell could handle.

Due to her (undiagnosed) anemia, Amira wasn't permitted to travel with her father and brother as it wasn't known how the differing weather conditions on the sea would affect her. As Vesper Bay is more known as a merchant's port, there weren't many children around Amira's age for her to spend time with; because of this, she spent the majority of her time huddled up in her room, reading all sorts of books that would be brought back to her from Limsa Lominsa. After a while, though, the influx of books slowed considerably and it was near impossible to keep up with Amira's consumption of them. This brought her to writing out stories that could have been considered non-fiction if they weren't so exaggerated. She was only seven, though, and her imagination seemed to burst when allowed to flow freely. There were all sorts of crazy things happening; dragons beheading the bronze statue of Lolorito and tossing it into the sea, chocobos escaping their owners and overrunning the bay, and even a story of Leviathan attacking their home, only to be brought down by "Amira the amazing and great."

As she grew older, her stories became more believable, and Nenetegi took it upon himself to submit one to the Mythril Eye newspaper to see what would happen. The story was published on one of the last pages of the paper, but it was exuberant enough that it caught people's eyes. After what seemed like only a few suns, Amira received a letter from a woman claiming to be a publisher of "grand stories," and offered to work with Amira to publish her very first book. Wary of the woman, Nanake and Hihiromu requested to meet the woman first. They took a small family trip to Gridania a week later to meet the publisher, who introduced herself by the name of Enelle Rubilaux. She appeared to be young, and seemed kind; she had read Amira's story and was surprised that someone so young "had a mind so vibrant." She offered to work with Amira, at no charge, to see if a book were possible. After much consideration, Amira's parents accepted, and rented out a room in the Carline Canopy for two suns. During this time, Amira would describe a massive world she'd came up with in her head, and Enelle worked with her to turn it into a small, small book.

The book, titled "Moondust", had a few copies printed and distributed around Gridania, with a request of feedback in return for a copy. The returns came back overwhelmingly positive, some even with a chunk of gil for a second copy to give to family or friends. After more discussion with both her parents and Amira, a loose contract was drafted up; Amira would write her stories and send them to Enelle, who would publish and deliver the books all over Eorzea for 35% of the profits. There was no time boundary to the stories as Amira was young, and couldn't be expected to meet tight deadlines. Amira wrote, and wrote, and wrote, and each book was met with positive reviews (with the exception of those who felt she was too young to be doing such a thing).

When she was 17, she renewed her contract with Enelle's company, agreeing to tighter deadlines as she had no problems creating endless stories, and she had no other obligations to meet. Even now, at the age of twenty-four, she keeps to this same contract, and meets up with Enelle regularly to go through quality screenings (that are often pointless) of her current work. To make travel easier on Enelle, as Amira didn't leave her home without someone accompanying her, she took it upon herself to buy a small cottage in the Lavender Beds against her mother's pleas, promising to visit monthly.

Family

Nanake.png
Nanake Nake ( ) - Mother (NPC)
The breadwinner of the house, as she liked to refer to herself, Nanake is freespirited and full of energy. She enjoyed nothing more than relaxing outside and watching the water while she fished, even more so when one of her children would sit there to talk with her about anything. She likes to tease Amira over one of her very first stories, where Amira wrote of Nanake taking down an entire hoarde of Gigantoads with nothing but her fishing rod.
Hihiromu.png
Hihiromu Yeyeromu ( ) - Father (NPC)
A quiet soul, Hihiromu loves three things over all else: his wife, his children, and the sea. When Hihiromu was first deemed an adult, the first purchase he made for himself was a small sailboat. He treated it like family, and even proposed to Nanake while taking her out to sea one day. Though it has lost it's sea legs, his prized boat sits just outside the family's home, and he makes sure to polish it once every few days. Hihiromu isn't very talkative, compared to his wife, and it's obvious where Amira's soft demeanor came from.
Nenetegi.png
Nenetegi Tototegi ( ) - Older Brother (NPC)
The very definition of a protective older brother, Nenetegi spent the majority of his free time with Amira during his childhood, only apart when he accompanied his father to Limsa Lominsa. Two years apart in age, Nenetegi enjoys listening to Amira's stories, and is always willing to help with any physical work she might need done. Unknown to his parents, Nenetegi works in conjunction with Amira's dabbles into children's books, and illustrates full page pictures for her stories.

Especially Notable Relations

Enelle.png
Enelle Rubilaux (NPC) ( )
Amira's publisher for the entirety of her career, Enelle has worked with Amira from a young age to get her stories to the people of Eorzea. When asked why she reached out to Amira after reading a small drabble that had been posted in the very back of the newspaper, Enelle would simply smile, accompanied with a confident "I had a good feeling about her."

Personal RP Limits
Below is a general list of things that I will and won't do within the context of roleplay. Please don't attempt to push roleplay that falls under the "don't" category. If you're unsure, just ask!

Ask before . . . Violent / battle-oriented themes. Captivity or imprisonment, either long or short term.
I won't play . . . Permanent character death or permanent character injury. Instant or near-instant ERP. I am uncomfortable ERPing casually. I need to know and trust the person first. If you're looking for quick ERP, please don't look here!

All of this said, your comfort and limits in RP are also very important to me. If an aspect of RP or certain themes make you uncomfortable, please let me know so that I can avoid them. Likewise, if something that happens in the midst of a scene makes you uncomfortable, please tell me immediately. I won't be offended at all, I promise! I am absolutely, 100% concerned with your comfort and enjoyment in our RP and would never want to make someone upset with pretendy-times.

On Walk-Up RP
If I am using the RP tag in game, I am more than likely open for walkups - however, I ask that you send me a tell first as it's difficult to tell who is being referred to in crowded areas. In the off chance I am already RPing with someone, I will confer with them to see if it's alright for another character to join; please don't be offended if they say no. Some players may be uncomfortable with sudden, unknown engagement. If something should come up, I have no problems making plans for future RP!

Important Notes for Prospective Long-term RP Partners
I am more than willing to take on long-term RP partners as I currently have few, and I enjoy being able to develop Amira. However, PLEASE take note of the following things first to make sure this really is what you want to sign up for in an RP partner. Make sure you read and understand these points well if you're thinking about trying to set up something long term with me.

I'm being open and honest about what you can expect from me as a long-term RP partner, and this will not change magically overnight. So if any of this doesn't sound acceptable to you, then we will likely not be compatible. Likewise, if anything covered here becomes an issue during our time RPing together anyway (i.e. if someone starts trying to pressure or guilt trip me into daily RP when I clearly state that I am unable to do this), then I very well might excuse myself immediately from the partnership.

I can't offer you daily or near-daily RP in game. While I enjoy RP quite a bit, I also enjoy playing the game we're RPing in - because of this, I will have days where I simply don't feel the itch for in-game RP. However, I have no issues with daily/near-daily RP through other platforms (ie: Discord, Tumblr) as long as you understand that replies won't be instant. I enjoy long threads and often take my time planning out my responses.

I generally can't offer you spontaneous RP at the drop of a hat. I very much prefer to plan RP ahead to make sure that nothing will clash!

There will be multiple people that I roleplay with. If you are easily made jealous OOCly by the idea of me RPing with someone else or having to politely decline your offer for RP sometimes because I have promised someone else RP, then I am not the partner for you.

That said, I may be roleplaying with someone you personally dislike. Feel free to mention it to me so that I can avoid putting you two in a situation where you have to interact. But I don't want to know all your drama, dirty laundry, or sordid history with this person. And absolutely do not try to police who I choose to RP with, please.
